- Another Monday, another story for you all! This one is especially dedicated to everyone who's working the night shift, or who has a job in which the hours drag and yet has the chance to alleviate the monotony by listening to stories like this. Trust me when I tell you I've done my share of jobs just like that and know how much it means to have something to help the hours pass more easily. I'm there for you guys; every week!

Okay - when I saw that title I thought "new creepypasta my butt" - but obviously my memory is going. Still, you're right - excellent tribute to Gilman.

I would say less a "shout out" and more a direct rip off of Gilman's story. I"ve taught "The Yellow Wallpaper" for years and, with few exceptions, this story is nearly identical. Plagiarism is not cool.

I really enjoyed this story. Absolutely terrifying! The yellow walls reminded me of the story "The Yellow Wallpaper." Are you familiar with that one? The woman in the story is confined to a room with yellow wallpaper and hallucinates someone is trapped in the walls. Not unlike this story. Both are tales of the progress of insanity, though this story seems to eventually confirm the paranormal. What is it about the color yellow? It's supposed to be sunny and warm, a color of happiness. But on the other side it's the color of decay and ugliness. Like rotting food full of maggots. Or a creature with long yellow fangs. 😰

Dr. Creepen If it helps, the author of that story is Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The story was first published in January, 1892. I haven't read it in years, so maybe it's time for me to look it up, too. 😊

Nice one, Dr. Creepen! This kind of reminded me of myself. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes, especially when I'm alone. It's not an all the time thing, mind you. But when those eerie vibes start humming, I'll start hearing and seeing things and swear that ordinary objects in my house (like the vacuum) are stalking me. Maybe they're just trying to tell me it's time to clean up, but still it's terrifying! Love to you and yours, and thanks for that little "somethin somethin" extra! ;)

I don't know if you have read the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" but this might be a bit of a creative spin but "The Yellow Walls" could be sequel to "The Yellow Wallpaper." It could and it couldn't be but I couldn't help but think of that short story when listening to this.
I love how you tell it, but damn, I would have at least tried to stream that thing on youtube.
Ive worked the nightshift for years: a paper mill, candy factory, a creepy gas station all by myself in middle of of nowhere a security guard at a mall, but still stay up all night to study and just for fun, like last night...and I can honestly say I still sigh at daybreak.

I believe it is - our bodies reject our will to do so.
Or, put more bluntly, you will start breathing once again on your own once you become unconscious, and your body's autonomic nervous system takes over. It IS possible, however, to hold your breath until you pass out, but this requires unusually high willpower.

freaked me out cuz i thought somehow it set itself to autoplay. xD thanks doc! for both them stories. Something interesting that I never really thought about is at one of the first houses I remember living at I used to see yellowish spots appear on the ceiling. Not always in the same places and they would go away and come back just like this story. but as a kid I never put much thought into it. In fact Ive never thought about it till now. So weird. maybe thats why we didnt live their long. Id ask my parents but they died in a car crash......wait a sec. XD ok only kidding on last part but I do seriously have to ask them about that. I used to think it was caused by the rain somehow.
