The only fighter aircraft that came close to it's performance was the P-51 Mustang. The Dornier Pfeil was a faster aircraft but a lot less responsive and it never got into mass production.
The FW-190 was the replacement for the Bf-109 and it in turn was to be replaced by the Me-262. But those came much too late for it to be useful and in sufficient numbers.
given the choice of driving a stang or butcher bird i'll take the butcher bird the stang is WAY WAY OVERHYPED!!!!
2:43 Wtf is that bulge on the right wing? A radar?
That caught me too, what the hell is that?
A mount and streamline cover for the 37 mm in the Tank Hunter version.
@@jacksonteller1337 Why's it asymmetric though?
@@TyrannoJoris_Rex pictures of the test model. The production version had two and fully underneath the wing. These were to experiment which configuration left enough manoeuvrability. Most pictures were special version or occasion in those days. When visiting the German air force we saw a lot of the regular pictures, nearly always to do with someone turning ace or a jubilee of the squadron.
