It blew my mind to see them return to the Part 1 intro with all the manga panels, except backwards this time. I expected them to wait until Part 7 as an homage to the alternate universe, but I think this was even better at capping off JoJo's legacy thus far.
Yeah I mean it's supossed to be the whole first universe which is basically a huge story that just ended, and the alternate universe could very well be another series but Araki decided it was still JoJo
Maybe (if part 7 gets animated, and I HOPE so) they will take the first intro as an inspiration because it’s Johnny (Johnatan) Joestar we are talking about…
I love how Heaven's Falling Down is also a kind of end of an era for Jojo. For 10 years we have followed this series and now, we see it culminate in this finale. Also Shuck did you see the Megumin spinoff trailer? It looks amazing
There was a change in the recap in the second version. Weather Report’s section gets unclouded, since he recovered his memories, showing when Perla committed suicide.
A little note: The shot where Jolyne and Pucci are facing off head to head surrounded by their glowing auras, seemingly levitating, is an almost exact recreation of a shot from Stand Proud with Jotaro and Dio.
you got it backwards. That shot in Stand Proud is a reference to Sono Chi no Sadame, which Heaven's Falling down is referencing quite more literally, except with the Joestar Mansion tearing apart. This is also a continuation of the previous version of the opening, where Jolyne running towards Pucci was a direct parallel to Jonathan running towards Dio.
I can't say I liked Heaven's Falling Down as much as Stone Ocean music wise, but the attention to detail, the way it flows, especially the character silhouettes, are just incredible. Plus I'm glad that there WAS another OP in the first place.
The main issue with the op is the song doesn’t fit the visuals like it just feels out of time some times, like it’s my least favourite jojo op but visuals are great or most are. Not the spin models in the build up that’s was pointless
The first time I saw heaven falling down theres that moment where the main characters look up at the sky and I thought "yup, thats gonna be sick when the variation happens"
Initially I couldn't compare the 2nd ending with the first, first iteration was just an incredible blend of camera angles along with the use of 3D Models and a spunky and bold motif. And that SONG, _IT SLAPS._ Heaven's falling down is slowly growing on me though, since I realize the finality and conclusion it had to present to the end of the OG Joestar Bloodline.
This is easily my favorite OP. The ominous and dark theme it has for the beginning was perfect as well as seeing all of the characters silhouettes. One thing you missed during that part though, was how the flashing images behind them were from their past. For Ermes it was the scene where Sports Maxx is torturing a man outside and when Gloria's body is being taken out of the river. For Anasui, there's a shot of a bed with his former girlfriend and the man she cheated on him with together, and it cuts to the scattered car parts from when he took apart his neighbor's car. For Emporio there's a skeleton behind him which likely belongs to his mother. And then in the 2nd version for Weather, it's the scene where Pearla jumps off the cliff. This OP was amazing in every way. Usually, I would get bored of the OP and skip them after a while, but I never skipped this one because it was too good.
One thing I like about Haven's Falling Down is how it's much more of a somber song than most JoJo openings. It's not filled with anger, like Chase, but rather much more sad and pained. I think that's a brilliant idea, considering the fate of all the protagonists, as well as Emporio's reaction to seeing the new lives of the rest of the gang. Of course, I'm a bit biased in this discussion, as Stone Ocean is my favorite part of JoJo, but just watching the intro left me tearing up and dreading the moment I would eventually have to watch Jolyne go. Also, I have a bit of a headcanon as to why this opening doesn't tell that much about the arcs of the final part of Stone Ocean and that is because this is Pucci's interruption of the opening. He is such an overwhelming presence in this final part of the story that he doesn't leave time for the story to unravel naturally. Made in Heaven doesn't allow for that to happen. Instead, he resets the opening to show the story of the family, then fast forwards to his struggle against Jolyne, in which she is forced to continue the fate of her bloodline
ngl all op's are kinda perfect but the problem is that just cause people believe that one op is better than the other it just makes it way worse some how(idk how) and different genres and type of songs can also differ view so imma say all op songs/visuals are epic
I remember seeing the final version of HFD for the first time, it caught me way off guard but in a positive way. I did not expect them to go back to SCNS and was pleasently surprised. Not only by that, but by the ending where they used ROUNDABOUT
I really liked the 2 openings, and thought true Made in Heaven opening might be my favorite. However, I was really hoping for a C-Moon change as well (yes greedy I know) even if it was small. My boy was done dirty again, but I’m still happy we got what we got
Well, there's no alternate opening for C-moon because it's implied in the reversed ground scene (also this could be a Traitor's Requiem reference). This scene is later replaced by Jotaro stopping time and Pucci using time acceleration.
YAYY this was such a fun vid to revisit the OP analysis!! I also finished the stone ocean anime recently and the callbacks to phantom blood were so unexpected it got me so emotional 😭 I love how dp payed tribute to the 10 year journey the anime has gone thru..!! And the roundabout ending was really the cherry on top 💖
I guess the reason why it does so much recap is because it's the ending I personally am fine with it, just because it felt like a tone setter, because this is the FINAL part of the original universe Edit: also that guitar solo in heaven's falling down is just.. sexual.
I loved this OP, I think the beginning being more recap focused is fitting as it's the end of this universe so we gotta linger on it for one last goodbye before we really dive into the big finale. And version 2 for me is truly peak.
The only thing that disappointed me is the opening didnt got faster. Dio stopped the op , kira reversed it , diavolo erased it and i was expecting a pucci to speed up the opening. But this time Jotaro is the one to interrupt. And pucci interupts jotaro's interupt kinda like traitors requiem. Also i expected a c moon version but c moon arc is short so it wasnt really needed. Every other thing was perfect like Jolyne running referancing to jonathan. 9/10 opening imo
actually if you closely listen to it the instruments begin to play in a faster peace than before jotaro's time stop, it's kinda hard to notice since there are all the vocals and the other sounds tho
I think it would be cool if we saw all the Jojo’s and Joefoes behind Pucci and Jolyne to show off the blood like and be able to give Diavolo and Kira acknowledgement also just wanna say this about the whole part I think it would be cool if Joseph Suzie the Morioh warriors and Passione retuned and reacted the Made in Heaven Edit: I came back to also mention that there could have been a quick moment with shadow DIO when his children are revealed
This is why I'm waiting for the newer parts getting animated in order to discover them because being unspoiled and discovering the story along with the openings is something that's jawdropping
I don't mind that the opening recaps a lot or doesn't show much of what actually happens in the arc. It's clear the opening is trying to be a celebration of the series and build up to a climatic final battle, so it makes sense to focus more on the characters and the feeling that everything is actually coming to an end.
I think the only things Heaven's Falling Down lacks is a version in which C-Moon appears at the end instead of Whitesnake, and Pucci being more of a threat using his Stand to accelerate the opening (kind of like what Part 5 did, having a version in which Diavolo distorsioned the opening and then one in which Giorno cancels it). Oh, and also, I think it would work better if the second version apepared one episode before, cause it shows Jolyne fighting Pucci, while Jolyne is already dead in that episode lol
My biggest issue with the OP is that they don't change it until the final episode. And I'm not talking about Pucci influencing the OP. That's fine, it makes sense and works perfectly. However, the first time I watched the OP I noticed several things that could be changed, and I waited the entire fucking show for it to change. And they only did in the very last episode. Those two things obviously being Dio's kids and Weather's backstory. Dio's kids are one thing, not changing them is whatever but it would have been cool if after every episode we met them, the shadows were removed. But WEATHER'S BACKSTORY! Holy shit dude. I saw the tree immediately when I watched the OP, and I was fully expecting us to get the backstory and for the clouds to clear in the OP after that point. And wouldn't that have been fucking awesome?! We see the backstory, and then BAM the very next episode hits us with an updated OP showing his backstory and how he got to where he is now like it did for everyone else. But no. They held off until they were already changing the OP. It feels like such a wasted opportunity.
Personally, i think this op had to really make up for the lack of an opening in the 2nd batch. There's just that feeling, for why the buildup feels weird. Its not all brought together cleanly. But thats my thoughts. Anyone else?
So my only gripe with Heaven's Falling down isn't with the animation, I think it's amazing. It's with the song itself. The key change for the chorus, in my opinion, just kinda comes out of nowhere and feels pretty out of place, I wish it had more of a build up or if it wasn't there at all since it feels pretty sudden and sounds dissonant imo. On a side note, it would've been so cool to have Tommy (The person who sings Sono Chi No Sadame, as well as End of the World and that one version of Great Days) sing the last part of the song as the op transitions into the part 1 op
