Listening to this man since I was 5 in my parents car to hearing him driving home from work decades later. Sad he's retiring but happy for all the entertainment he gave me. Thank you John!!
It's an a-bomb for a-rod.. best call from the legendary John sterling. He is the greatest of all time. He retired on his own terms and is the classiest guy you can meet. God bless you John for 35 terrific years. No one will ever be better
@@busterb11702 yes, so I guess I’m a bit biased, but he recognized as one even outside of Cleveland. Even though there a decent amount who find him annoying because thinks he’s just yelling all the time.
The Tino and Brosius calls near the start of the video always give me chills. I sure will miss Sterling calling every game - been listening to him since I got into baseball and the Yankees as a kid in the mid-'90s.
Love John Sterling🎙after 35 years will always be the voice of the Yankees. I listened to him since he started in 1989 with Jay Johnston on WABC radio in NY. I also want to give a beloved retirement good bye to another long time NY news anchor Dana Tyler who started in 1990 on WCBS news just retired after 34 years. Two of my all time favorites, I loved them.
This man was a part of so many childhoods. The energy let you know he was one of us. A fan first and foremost. There will not be another like John Sterling. Thank you and god bless.
I was a teenager listening to John Sterling, He is basically the only guy I've listened to during my lifetime. He will surely be missed. Glad we can watch memories on RUclips. A lot of great calls.
I’m a Cubs fan so I’ve been blessed with a great radio broadcaster in Pat Hughes, I’ve always enjoyed hearing Sterling’s calls as well. Baseball has had some legendary voices man!
You will be missed. It was an honor and a great privilege to be able to listen to your voice every game. Best team in the world and best announcer in the world. You made every home run more memorable! Thanks John!!
I'll never forget 25-30 years ago sitting in the back of my dad's car listening to 1430 while my mom was in the E.R. or one of her many DR visits. We would listen to the Yankees and he would teach me about Baseball. John Singleton's voice always takes me back to those very rare happy childhood memories. I'm glad John is around to see how much he means to people. A lot don't get this outpouring of support before death.
the best thing about XM satellite radio was I got to listen to Yankee games in California. not that I was a Yankee fan but I was a John Sterling fan. he was my 2nd favorite baseball announcer behind Vin Scully
I know some of his calls can be seen as corny or whatever but I don’t care I love hearing John’s Homerun calls. He’s like a dad who tells dad jokes lol. You might cringe a little when he says them in front of other people, but secretly you love hearing them lol. I missed him during the regular season so much that I didn’t even listen to the radio broadcast this season. I was so glad when I heard he’d be doing the radio call for the postseason 🙌🏾🤘🏾.
Thank Mr. Sterling you Sir have long ago earned your place in Yankees fans hearts. Your contributions to not only the greatest sports organization in the world but to the greatest sport and our nation's pastime. Your name will be forever part of the Pinstripes history with the same esteem of the late Bob Shepherd and Mel Allen
I became aware of Mr. Sterling’s play-by-plays during the 1996 playoffs. And he was just as entertaining back then reminiscent of the Mel Allen/Bill White/Phil Rizzuto chemistries. He will be sorely missed.
This video could not have been made better! It started with his very first personalized home run call, and ended with his last! You made this video to perfection, Major League Baseball!
Of every call I've heard since I was 19. '89 when he started w Kay...my favorite call is "The Sun will come out...Tanaka" fkn brilliant. Enjoy retirement..well we'll deserved.
One of my favorite calls that it’s not specific for any players…when any 2 player hit HR consecutively, Sterling goes: 😂👉🏼 5:10 THEY GO BACK TO BACK AND BELLY TO BELLY !!
Love this. For the couple nuts on ESPN and radio talk shows that make fun of Sterling (well, when you are an echo chamber and whatnot...) this is so fun. Best sport for originality
If Kyle Schwarber played for the Yankees, John Sterling's call, Oh, The Scwarbarian has smashed a Schwarbomb to deep center field! Yankees win 5-3! Ball Game Over! YANKEES WIN THEEEEE YANKEES 🏆 WIN!! From Philly
1:13 not sure why the pitcher is surprised here. You threw a fastball right down Broadway, what did you think was going to happen? I mean that's literally right down the middle.
Overall, a great video which includes the most notable Yankees' hitters of the past 30 years, but there's one very big omission: No Sterling call of any HR by Paul O'Neill?!? Nine seasons worth of options.
I love John but I almost busted my ___ over a false Stanton home run call in the ninth no less. It was a west coast game and I was half asleep, jumped up out of my bed and damn near killed myself over a warning track "home run".
I'm certainly in the minority here, but man.. I was not a fan of John Sterling. I've been watching the Yankees my whole life and hearing John and his dorky calls and general lack of baseball knowledge. I don't understand how you can watch baseball so often and for so long and still not really _get_ baseball.

Giancarlo Stanton. That's why he was the last one. Stantonion blast. Nosi quo con Palo. By far the best home run call. Facts.😂😂😂.
An A-Bomb from A-Rod 😂 best call ever !!
