Thank you for this!! I have seen TONS of visor clip repairs and replacements but NONE to FIX it from falling down completely until I found your video. My 2005 Scion tC also has a cheap plastic piece holding it in place on to the roof. After I try your suggestion, I will then have to fix it from falling which are all the videos out there! Will post how it goes. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much. You explained it so good that a 71 year old woman fixed her's and it works great. Didn't need the light so it was a lot easier. Appreciate it. Now my liftgate support connection to the body of the car pulled out and I am wondering if the only way to fix will be a welder. Any suggestions. Thanks anyway. Great job
it works perfectly. tapped the visor to receive a screw, found a common threaded screw with a good head, applied threadlocker'...done deal. thank you so much
Just wanted to add: I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS. Last year the passenger side sun visor broke in the same manner described and without researching the internet I like many people shelled out over $100.00 directly to Hyundai parts dept. for the new visor. This time the drivers side visor broke and I decided to research a fix and found this posted fix. The only change in the fix that I wanted to let everyone know is that a sheet metal screw with lock washer worked just fine. I did not have any tools to tap, I did not want to invest in a tube of glue. I went out to my work bench found a sheet metal screw and lock washer and worked great. I nor my wife in the 10 years of owning this SUV have never used either the mirror or the light on the visor, so it's back up literally a 3 minute fix that includes re installation. My thanks to ynotsail for the great fix idea but I did want to pass on the slight alternative that I found to work great as long as you don't need the light.
Very funny, you are welcome Sheighty. Send me a picture. Mine is still good 1 year later. Next project may be the fan speed control. Speed fluctuates randomly. Stay posted.
Thanks so much for this video! I fixed mine and it works like a charm! One question though. Where did you get your light switch from and what is it called?
Sorry for late reply. The switch is a push button style, SPST (single pole single throw), NO (normally open). I take a lot of stuff apart so I just got mine from my garage. But if I don't have what I need then I go to digikey.com. I checked, they range from $7 to $25 there. If you have the time just go to yard sales, rummage sale, surplus store, etc and find a broken appliance or equip to salvage. If you haven't already finished the job, good luck.
My 2008 Santa Fe sun visor - driver side had the same exact damage. It just dropped down, still hanging while I was driving I was surprised because, I hardly use the visor, and I figure it was a cheap design, just like with most things on the Santa Fe. Replacing it with a new one leaves no surety that it won't break again,as it is made with flimsy and cheap material. Now the radio is acting up too. All electronics work in sporadic fashion. Will I recommend a Santa Fe? No.
Sorry I can't remember the screw size, but I think I mention it in the video. If you can find a hollow screw then your fix will be as good as new. Good luck

Omg. Thank you so much. I almost paid over $100 to get replaced before I decided to check RUclips. :). Worth loosing the lighted mirror.

How about using a hollow screw? Can you tell us what size screw you used. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the help. Where did you purchase the light switch from.
The switch came from my junk box. Try digikey.com or yard sales. Good luck
