Strohl was rendered useless in the repelling dragon fight: Evan wisely switched to a better party member Strohl was rendered useless in this episode's boss fight: Evan keeps him on the team and lets him die (and get knocked down by all the wind attacks this boss uses) Lol I gotta say, Evan's unpredictability can always make for an interesting playthrough!
Yeah, I thought this would happen. Like Evan said, this fight is on a turn limit. I have some advice, but naturally you're free to disregard it. You may want to switch to Royal Summoner, since it has a REALLY good healing move, the best one in the game (granted I don't remember if you need to make a vessel for it). I know you like Devil Summoner for Mothman, but let's be real, you're not using him in this fight. And in general you might want to save Hero's Cry for the end of a battle rather than the beginning. Using it at the beginning sets you up for a lot of early damage, but saving it for the end can help you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Imagine if you could get those four extra turns after you and Eupha got KO'd near the end.
@@SpiritOfGotham Elegy is such a perfect encapsulation of what our enemies in-game feel when facing us: strategies changing, bullshit move combos, absurd damage output, and resilient as hell. Everything it does, we can do as well.
It's kinda funny how ever since Evan turned down Royal Summoner because Devil had Mothman, he hasn't used Mothman *once.* Tyrant, on the other hand, he uses very often, but I saw that that's one of the skills that Royal has too!
Honestly, the final boss of the game is divided into two dungeons, one you can complete before the 30 days is up, and another you can't start until after the time limit expires. Going through the first dungeon will give you a lot of levels, that should help if you ever wanted to give this guy a second attempt.
You basically hit the "enrage" is why he used Armageddon. I think you guys can totally do it though because you were so close. I hope you don't give up, but whether you do tackle it again it is totally up to you. Regardless you did well with going in completely blind. Some suggestions, but completely ignore me as I'm sure you got your own ideas already after your first attempt: I think if you had at least carried over skills from Masked Dancer/Persona Master to create weakness & a FYI those skills like Thunderhead Dance is considered an attack skill on the list if you want to search and inherit it, but there are other ones similar that uses other elements like ice or wind. As well as Dekaja & Vidyartha from Faker/Trickster are better since it will 100% work cause relying on an ability that can miss is probably what really hurt you is why Dekaja & Vidyartha are really good skills.. It would probably help speed up the process. If anything else though I think magic or Almighty would probably benefit better for this fight than physical since he puts Null/Repel physical skills. Maybe could give Strohl an element type of skill too so he can do some damage to ignore the Null/Repels. Other than that you would be fine. But I couldn't really make any other recommendations since I was much higher level when fighting this so it was much easier for me.
Yup, this is all solid advice. I'll add a bit more to it (and hope they read it): - Thunderhead Dance (electric) and Dance of Verdure (wind) are both from Persona Master and would fit this party pretty well - Strohl could run Windbreaker instead of Martial Lore (that one only boosts regular attacks), this way you don't need to solely rely on Basilio for elemental physical + defense drops - Dekaja might be best given to someone else instead of Eupha. If she has _both_ Dekaja and Dekunda you'll probably run a lot into only using one of them per round when you'd rather use both - It's a little surprising how Charge was barely used in this game, after spamming it so much on the Persona games you know how good that is, and Basilio already has it by default - You noticed this later, but even though the Prince's skills scale off the better stat, they still count as physical moves, which means they're still affected by row. You missed _a lot_ of damage in the long run from having the MC in the back for so long, try to have him at the front from the start - Once you see him do Hero's Cry for the first time, you gotta speed up and finish the fight soon, as you figured. It may in fact be better to save your own Hero's Cry for _that_ part of the battle, just so you get whatever momentum you lost back
It's interesting how the boss gives you a warning, by starting to use Hero's Cry. Sure, a first-time player would have no idea that means that time's almost up, but it's at least a lot better than "If you do anything that's on this invisible rule list, the boss will insta-kill you. Want to know what the rules are beforehand so you can sufficiently prepare? Ha, that's silly!"
6:20 Actually Give into naptime gives you the best fish for cooking ingredients: Lord of the Lake & 2 x Queen’s Honey Jar. But its not really too important because the stuff you guys cook isn't something rare that you make most of the time. But they are strong food buffs if you were ever wanting to get those ingredients mostly because Queen's Honey Jar is so rare.
Man, after doing this fight myself and watching them, I can definitely see the HUGE difference changing the difficulty does. I was WAY stronger than them at this point, but got wiped by this guy as soon as he reached Prince on hard mode.
Well this is an early one :D Edit: after making this i saw the community post lol that explains it. Kinda sad this metaphor playthrough is nearing its end but super hype ab P:EG (how did i not realize until now project eden's garden shortened to PEG)
When I first fought Elegy of the Soul, I thought it instant killed me using the Prince archetype...actually, it was because of the repelling gear I had on, but switching to Elemental Master took it off. Still, one hell of a boss battle that I adore.
I think you might want to trade out Strohl for the next attempt, or at least change his archetype/skills. Having only slash attacks really held you back there. But hey, look how far you got. It was pretty close until you lost two people in a turn.
Don't worry, you do have the proper tools for this, but you absolutely must think about all your options, the game is pretty much on bended knee begging you to use all you learned thus far. It is not easy no matter what difficulty you put it on, you gotta adapt.
Huh, the boss doesn't punish on easy i suppose in the early game. (for those don't know it was effing devious on hard that they gave us equipment that gives elemental immunity, the boss goes teamswipe mode at the first turn! (aka no counterplay 9999 damage in you're face) if you have that on.)
Ah I stand corrected to be fair it's been 2 month since i finished the game can't remined myself if it's repel or immunity, but yeah i meant specifcly the 3 dragon armors you get from the Bosses.
Well it’s not a superboss for nothing Still, the Pixels walked into this right truly unprepared. Debilitate is almost recommended just to remove the Elegy dodge mechanic And they still have not used Royal Summoner that has removed buff effects? Remind again why they cannot use it. I began to wonder if it were cause of the Personas I they thought is only in Devil Summoner.

Never let it be said that Evan's intelligence is linear or predictable.
I didn’t think this game would pull this off, but here we are.
A shadow by any other name is just as welcome in Euchronia.
Yeah, I thought this would happen. Like Evan said, this fight is on a turn limit.

Royal summoner doesn’t need any elegy’s for it’s casts just levels like a normal archetype
@chainsawboy2388 thought so, just wasn't sure lol

Finally a difficult fight.

Really good advice. Makes the fight 5X easier.

I wonder if nobody has told them yet that you can buy the bluefin tuna in gran trad market at this point.
Hey, props to you for giving this boss a shot, and y'all did really well for a first proper attempt. 😊🎉

“I am a shadow, the true self” says pixel metaphor of the pixel partner’s metaphor playthrough
Poor Ali, having to see Strohl get bodied so many times😅
It took five dragons to fight one that had a different appearance. And you guys were so worried multiple times throughout the game.
Man, after doing this fight myself and watching them, I can definitely see the HUGE difference changing the difficulty does. I was WAY stronger than them at this point, but got wiped by this guy as soon as he reached Prince on hard mode.

Oh my god. they did a Dark Link legend of zelda moment. :O

Are we looking into a mirror or facing a "Shadow" of ourselves?
Fantasy appreciation comment
I thought the Elegy of the Soul was some sort of location, group or item originally, not this
We're fighting the Velvet Room theme?!
I think that’s Aria of the Soul
Nice! 🤩Yeah, after watching this, small hit with mc to break the barrier is a good tactic😁👍👍👍

It should only do that if you're wearing repel armor. I'm fairly certain I had the null stuff on with no issue on hard.

This fight was wild on hard
I like how they make a magic build only to end using "Royal Slash", a physical attack, only because is Almighty.
Royal Slash and Royal Sword scale off whichever stat is higher for damage. The damage is still considered physical for crit purposes though.
Well it’s not a superboss for nothing
Still, the Pixels walked into this right truly unprepared. Debilitate is almost recommended just to remove the Elegy dodge mechanic
