Hey guys! I’m on vacation visiting some family so if I’m not replying to comments, that’s why. I am reading them tho so I’ll just drop a heart. I spent some time before I left getting these episodes scheduled so I can start Knight when I get back. I truly appreciate the support on all the Batman videos. Nice job defeating Copperhead on the first attempt, Sky! You finally figured out the multi-ground takedown which is more useful than multiple instant takedowns against multiple criminals in combat. They are no riddles to solve in this game but destroy the network relays and locate all the extortion data which a few are also found in the sewers. You use the remote claw to zip line through glass and wooden windows as well.

38:43 Joker is famous for concocting something called the “Joker Toxin”. It’s usually a gas that makes his victims laugh to death. It’s not used much in the Arkham games, but it is a staple of his character
They did a really good casting Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker (Batman and Joker, respectively) for this game, 'cause they do sound like a younger Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill (who voice Batman and Joker in the Rocksteady games).

But in my opinion no one matches the iconic voice of kevin conroy as batman, RIP kevin the batman conroy.

@@Bodyknock I agree. I loved Smith's performance as a voice actor for Batman. They casted him very well for a Batman game without Kevin's voice.
Troy Baker did a great job as the Joker in this game and in the Arkham animated suicide squad movie. Plus his performance as this younger version of the Joker is honestly kind of terrifying in how he manages to show how the Arkham Joker is genuinely remorseless and finds the chaos and destruction he causes to be hilarious with only his introduction. Great vid Sky and keep up the great work.

Troy Baker did the voice for Joker in this one (instead of Mark Hamill) and it’s honestly very impressive how well he imitates the iconic voice.
I always love hearing all the different joker laughs.
Troy is a legend. He did a lot of voices for anime and video games characters. Joel from TLoU (iconic), Simon Krieger from Miles Morales, Samuel Drake from Uncharted 4 - these are the ones that first came to mind.

That lacey towers detective cutscene is probably my favorite cutscene in the whole arkham series.
It really is one of the best moments in the franchise.
Not gonna lie, I love origins, I play it every Christmas, it has a special place in my heart and I love this version of joker

In the past I used to replay this game (finish the story ..sometimes with higher difficulty) fairly often too ..but mainly during Winter times / seasons (or on Christmas as you also said). Feels better to play this wintery designed game ..during winter IRL too. 😁👍 It feels more immersive I should say.
Can't wait for you to get to Cold Cold Heart, a lot of people ( myself included) consider it the best DLC in the franchise.

38:40 she was hit by joker’s iconic “Joker’s Toxin.” It basically forces you to have uncontrollable fits of laughter which slowly suffocates you to death while contorting your face into a permanent horrific smile.
His toxin is so dangerous that he’s actually taken down the justice league with it.
This game doesn’t really reflect it, but Shiva is the greatest martial artist in DC. The movie Batman: Soul of the Dragon is the only one that showcases the best martial artists above even Batman, and made a brotherhood out of them. It’s pretty awesome
Joker looks more young in this game, which makes sense because this is taking place on the past
I love seeing the Sionis Steel Mill before Joker had it decked out like it was in Arkham City.
This my favorite Joker look in any medium!!! 😍 Also one of my favorite Batman and Joker stories and the fact that it takes place at Christmas... Perfect! XD

This game really showcases that the Arkham series is a kind of sick love story between Batman and Joker.
Yeah, literally every game is thematically somehow tied around their relationship.
It's why I actually like the joker plot in Knight. Batman's greatest fear would be to cross that line and become the joker, so it makes sense his inner monologue gradually becomes more Jokery
So glad you stopped to do the Mad Hatter side mission. I love how reminiscent it is of the Scarecrow sequences from Asylum, and it always bums me out when new players miss out on it.
Seeing joker imitate black mask was cool & creepy Troy baker does a good job . Seeing how he & Batman first met in this game was great
Mad Hatter's interview tapes from Arkham City are really enthralling in any way terrifying. Really hope you check them out in a video because they're they are one of the best aspects of the games.

In Arkham Knight, the ground takedown is so much faster
And you can continue to punch them when there down instead of standing around and waiting/flailing until people stand back up

I still don't Understand how Arkham Origins is So much Overhated. Between All The Arkham Games it actually Has the Best Cutscenes, Literally every cutscene in This game is a Cinematic Art. This Bank Vault Scene is just Crazy. Joker Brutaly Beating Black Mask while The Bank Manager is literally Dying of Laughter

I actually like the way Joker looks in this game. Remember this is about 8 years before Asylum so he is a bit younger but he doesn't look drastically different at the same time to where they can't be the same person. Also there are things that happen between games in this universe that influence characters and considering The Joker literally poisoning himself with venom who knows what else he's taken over the years.
Most things can be explained within the continuity except for Batman's suit which is far more advanced in Origins than in Asylum which doesn't really make sense unless you want to say that he wanted to heavily reduce weight.
Loved this episode! The joker twist reveal is so good. Can’t wait for the next one.

57:30 - Honestly I think people weren't too fond of Origins back then just because they were really anticipating the followup to the events of Arkham City. I love it, I think its a great game and its nice to see Batman's first year as a vigilante. Great cast of villains as always.
It's his second year as Batman, actually.
But yeah, I agree with you, Origins is definetly underrated and didn't deserve the hate it got when it released back in 2013.
I think the main issue is that it's too similar to Arkham City in terms of gameplay
@@Mandalore_ultimateyeah, it's pretty linear move in terms of mechanics and gameplay from City, yet it feels less polished than City in many aspects. Atleast is has the best boss fights out of the rest of the games
God I absolutely loved this game with the Joker twist and the whole crime scene analysis. The cutscenes were also top-tier, so cool to watch. Such a joy to watch you Sky!
I love how the combo system makes you feel so self conscious.

When Origins first came out, there was a game breaking glitch. The entire game would hard crash to desktop and you couldn't get past a certain point on an elevator. When the developers were asked about it, they said they weren't going to go back to it until the DLC was completed. You essentially could not complete the game because of this crash. It was a customer who fixed one mistype that fixed the whole thing.
But the attitude of the developer pretty much set the tone for the release of the game. I love it after it is fixed, but it had a supremely rough start.

The detective mystery solving was definitely something I felt was missing from the arkham games. The other games felt more like problem solving tasks where as the black mask and his girlfriend crime scene felt like actual detective work.
This was an element that I wasn't too big on with Arkham Origins the idea that Batman met so many iconic villains in a single day. I think the game would've been fine without the Joker as the main villain but I do admit I like alot of elements showcased in this game. Felt very compacted and rushed like they wanted to showcase as many villains as possible for Batman to encounter. Also fun detail but in the Arkham Origins multiplayer you can play as Robin who is a 16 year old Dick Grayson. Only time in the series where Dick is Robin while in the other games for example City he's already Nightwing with Tim Drake as Robin.
They are iconic as DC characters and Batman's rouges gallery but within any given telling of a Batman story they are just characters utilized for that particular story.
I get what you are saying but it's important to remember that this was an event orchestrated by The Joker so Batman wasn't just randomly meeting them as well as them being just people who accepted the contract. Also he knew about some of them before this like The Penguin, Black Mask and Bane.

I have enjoyed u playing origins. Tip upgrade your remote claw, it can do so many things once it is fully upgraded in predator. Destroy those radio network that are green on your map, it will give u extra XP and talk to Alfred he will give u extra XP every time u do main story and wisdom because of his character. Enjoy family time and a great 4th.
People disliked Origins for a couple reasons:
- the fact that it wasn't made by Rocksteady and therefore lacked the quality and polish we were used to
- many reports of glitching and crashes at launch
- the similar map and structure to Arkham City
- the fact that a few of the assassins hunting Batman were relegated to underwhelming side missions rather than main story events
- and finally several fans were anticipating Black Mask's role as the new big villain of the story, only for Joker to once again take over as the main threat for the 3rd game in a row. IIRC there was a bit of Joker fatigue being felt across all Batman media around the time of Origins' launch.
Lotta folks have definitely warmed up to Origins over time due to it's rock-solid story, unique toolset, and creatively challenging boss fights. Some even prefer it to most of the other Arkham games.

Goddamn, the plot of this game reminds me why I am obsessed with the Batman mythology/world.
I do not wish to Batman you out since you're doing Knight after, but this game also has an endgame DLC similarly to Harleys Revenge that dwells into a Batman villain without getting into spoilers.
Also, if you like this plot, I recommend the latest The Batman film as the plot along with the vibe takes some inspiration from this.

If you hold the left stick backwards while grappling onto a ledge, Batman will only hang on that edge without climbing onto it - useful in stealth encounters.
if this game have a strange feeling(in gameplay, physics,etc) in comparison to the previous ones, it's because this game was made by a different developer.
rocksteady made arkham asylum, arkham city, and the next one you will play, arkham knight.
arkham origins was made by warner games montreal, this is why this game seems a little strange in comparison to the others.

If you want to read a short and easy to follow Batman story, one of my favorites is The Killing Joke. I really think you should read it even just on your off time. I think they even turned it into a movie. Highly recommend watching it!

Although no one can top Mark Hamil Joker voice, Troy Baker did a pretty good job voicing Joker in this one.
As for jokers appearance. I like to think it an young ambitious joker. Batman hasn't broken his nose 1000+ times yet. And joker isnt yet obsessed with batman. Joker hasnt been bat-stressed yet.

Some people don’t like Origins because they have an unhealthy loyalty to Rocksteady.
For the flying bodies, i think the problem is the framerate, the higher the framerate the more “jumpy” the physics becomes you could try caping the framerate low
Love this video Sky! A lot of people disliked Origins because of the glitches, story inconsistencies, and how much it is just like City. Nowadays, more people are seeing just how underrated the game really is. I also think a lot of people don't know that Origins was made to give players something to play until Rocksteady finished Knight, that and WB Montreal worked on this using assets from Rocksteady. Have a awesome vacation!

Roger Craig Smith(aka Chris Redfield RE5 v.a.)did such a tremendous job as Batman. Kevin Conroy was no doubt proud of it to carry through the Arkham franchise 🎉🔥 100%
While I never played this game in the series. I did see a lot of the discourse. People seemed to feel that it’s not a bad game. It just doesn’t meet the same quality as the Rocksteady games. As you’ve even seen, it has a lot of bugs, lots of invisible walls, the world doesn’t have as much detail and Easter eggs, and there is always a loud faction that hates recasts of Batman and Joker.

I thought Roger and Troy did a fantastic job as Batman and Joker in this game, I'd like to see them reprise these roles in future animated projects and games. It's funny because if you ever play the Telltale Batman series Troy actually voices Batman and that's not his first time as the character either since he voiced Lego Batman in the video games years prior.
I'd have to check but I can't think of another actor off the top of my head who's played both the Joker and Batman.
Not only that but just within the Arkham series troy baker does two-face, joker, robin, and Jason todd
The reveal of Joker! Love the menacing rendition of Carol of the Bells for Joker, it really suits him! I think this is Troy Baker's first take on the Joker, so I wonder how you might compare him to Mark Hamill's Joker, especially Troy's Joker sounds so similar, almost like a young Hamill's Joker from Batman The Animated Series. Speaking of comparisons, I really like Tetch's side mission wayyy more than his side mission in City, which felt lacking. He's more of a threat here, where he actually has a hostage and he sends us to Wonderland! This side mission actually reminds me a lot of Scarecrow's sections in Asylum. I wonder which you like better, Scarecrow's Nightmare Sequences in Asylum or Tetch's Wonderland Sequence in this game?

I know some people who like Arkham Origins and some don’t. I like it but I enjoy Asylum/City & Knight more. In my mind I like to think Asylum/City & Knight exists on “earth 1 “ and Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights exist on “Earth 2”. I’m glad you’re enjoying the game it is really fun!!
Fun Fact: When she's on the ground around 31:07 or so, there is a nearby poster for a magic act, magician being Zatanna, a real magic user and fellow member of the Justice League.

If you use the remote claw on a foe and aim that to a gargoyle it’ll string him up and leave him dangling up there till he falls unconscious
Beware Martial Artists (red ones) they can counter you, plus there are moments when you must double counter or counter 3-5 times for multiple punches at you 1 for each punch. 5 for later in the game's progress. Oh and for the Wonderland doors the clue was to follow the white rabbit and open the door he's above to get to the next segment of Wonderland. Plus I looked at the credits of this game the voice for Copperhead is Rosa Salazar who was known for playing Alita: Battle Angel.
I think the reason some don't like Origins is because they played it at release, and the bugs left a bad taste in their mouth. When WB said they had no interest in fixing the bugs (apart from the ones keeping people from being able to complete the main story), it added fuel to the fire.
I'm guessing that it's not that it's a bad game, but rather that they had a bad experience with it. And coming from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, one couldn't help wonder "Why the need to change the formula when it worked so well for the first two games?".
Just as an example; a buddy of mine said Batman kept spontaneously falling through the ground in Origins for her, and she said it ruined the experience for her.

You can counter attacks while doing the ground finish. Youve been able to do it since asylum. No reactor ive watched has figured it out yet.
I figured it out my first time playing asylum.
I can’t wait to play this game when I get the chance with the DLCs , playing the last 3 games will definitely give me huge advantage since I got platinum trophy for all them 😅

I don't think it is so much that people dislike Origins. It's just of all the Arkham games, it is the least good. But the least good Arkham game is better than most other games, heh. It's still quite a good game, it just suffers in comparison to it's siblings.
