Nice review. We live in Inverness and we've been to Oscar Penn's. It was good, but not great. It was much better when it was The McLeod House. They even printed a custom menu for our anniversary (McLeod). I have a couple of restaurants you might want to try. In Crystal River, Vintage on 5th. It's very small and intimate, but excellent food and service. Make reservations. Also in Crystal River, Backwater Fins. Great food and service as well. It's very rustic and laid back. It's on Ozello Trail, literally about 12 miles out with nothing on the way. The first time we went, I thought we made a mistake on our directions. It was well worth it. You have to get the Blue Crab Bisque. It is outrageous! Again, make reservation, because it is also a small place. We've also been to Kane's Cattle Co. in Crystal River. Don't waste your time or money. Tough steaks and terrible service. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. The waiter argued with me that it "had some pink inside".
