  • The Victorious Mafia - A cloak of silence descends on Sicily as the Mafia elude justice
    Subscribe to Journeyman for news and science reports every weekday: www.youtube.com...
    San Giuseppe’s lone policeman shows us a secluded house that was once rented by the nephew of the town’s Mafia boss. He kept a kidnapped 11 year-old in a dungeon at this house for 2 years. The boy was his bargain chip to stop his fellow Mafiosi from talking to the police. After 2 years the boy was eventually killed. As was customary they put his body in a bath full of acid. The boy did not put up much resistance, they said; after all he’d been in a hole for two years and he didn’t have any muscles left. Once again Sicily’s fishermen are trawling for more than prawns. Waiting on the dock is a black Mercedes - behind the darkened windscreen sits a man for whom ‘fruit de la mer’ means a nice fat box of smuggled narcotics. Those hunting down the Mafiosi say that people’s consciences have gone back to sleep. We find the women who are now risking their lives in the fight against the Mafia. Teresa Principato is investigating the Mafia, although her two predecessors were murdered by them. “It’s love for your country that forces you to continue, to prevent this sort of oppression, this cloak of silence." The sustained state offensive to the Mafiosi six years ago seemed to have worked. But in the world of drug deals and prostitution, the Mafia is as strong as ever.

    ‘The deaths of Investigating Magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino’ - I remember this like it was yesterday;
    I was young at the time of their deaths, but I lived very nearby, due to my Father’s work, with a big multinational company (American, I *think* - but best not name it). I was too young to be interested in reading the papers or watching the news (although I am totally bilingual in Italian). But even as a kid, I remember this happening, and at school, in the playground, even among young kids, almost nothing else was talked about. I especially remember ‘going home time’ (school hours in Italy tend to be about 8.30am - midday-ish). Outside school, all groups of parents, huddled together, talking animatedly but kinda ‘whispering’ at the same time - about nothing else. The rumours, the theories, the conspiracies.... who did it? Which ‘clan’? Which family? Was it the state? They knew too much? Were they about to ‘name names’??? They were either like superheroes in suits, or the scum of the earth - depending on who’s view you took, which side of the fence you were on. The reaction was similar do the death of Princess Diana; except for two things: the shock and outpouring did not spread across the world; it was confined to the beautiful island of Sicily; and, unlike Lady Diana Spencer, where people discussed - and grieved - openly and endlessly for the loss, here it was all carried out in far more more ‘hushed tones’, lest you say the wrong things, or about the wrong people, or politicians. Given the manner in which they both died, I say this wit NO pun intended: discussing the subject was like treading in a minefield.

Each country has its own history of corruption and that is the first supply that create the international mafia.... This is why each country should get together and fight against mafia . It is not war that can be done in very short time but it is long lasting and it will take years and maybe generations to change and make things better.

    The Mafia exists because they are tolerated for various reasons. But mistaking tolerance for weakness is a potentially fatal error of judgment because the state can flip the switch in an eyeblink and squash these people like bugs. When they come they come in force - not with fat, wheezing comic-book heavies but special forces death squads toting enough firepower to repel the D-Day landings, drones, breaching charges, armoured personnel carriers, dogs, gas etc. etc.. As they say in the US - "Mess with the Feds and you are DEAD".

    • @deaddropholiday
      @deaddropholiday 4 года назад

      @barung1 Yes. A lot of this came out in the wake of the P2/Gladio revelations and the admissions of Licio Geli. BTW, if you are Italian - out of interest, a quick question: What is the popular opinion on who was ultimately responsible for the death of Aldo Mora?

    • @deaddropholiday

      hasnt stopped the richest people in the world from committing the worst atrocities. Its been said money doesnt change you, it only reveals you. Take someone with lots of vices and itll just make you a bigger addict. Drugs of all kinds, sex of all ages, politicians and judges paid off. Henry Kissinger apparantly said "power is the ultimate aphrodesiac" and money can certainly buy alot of power in todays world. But remember "he who conquers others may be strong, but those who conquer themselves are truly mighty" -Loa Tzu

      Jiany Star Massa vich Your statement is THE BEST AND MOST TRUEST I'VE EVER HEARD. Once or if every person could have ALL the money they've ever wanted. They would soon realize and find out that it DOESN'T bring love, or happiness. In fact it brings the opposite because of all the worrying over how to hold on to and keep it safe. Not to mention, the dangerous people that ALWAYS seem to appear once its found or they understand whom is in possesion of it. It's NOT what anyone truly needs anyway.

      The American version of the Mafia, La Cosa Nostra, will not kill kids or prosecutors. In fact, they had Dutch Schultz killed for refusing their edict to kill then prosecutor Thomas Dewey. American mafiosi refer to Italians as Zips and look at them as animals for using car bombs and killing women and children.

    Mussollini try to crush the Maffia The italian army surrounded the Mafia stronghold in the mountains, they were hiding in caves. The place was well diffended and they resisted stubbornly. Finally the army cut there water suooly and because menny vomen and children was in the caves, the leader of the Mafia surrendered. I saw this in an Italian movie, Naturaly americans cant see this kind of movies, because they not allowed to see forein movies, only american made There liders keep them under a cultural s embargo ( only american movies, music etc. ) in this way the peaple become narowminded dont know whats happening in the world and easy to kontroll them Another reason you dont hier about this, because Mussolini was, fascist and they just cant admit they did good thing to !
