  • Bass is the ultimate sport fish for many anglers - the stuff dreams are made of. If you enjoy fly fishing, this should get your pulse racing. These are some of my favourite takes from an amazing 24hrs. All the fish were released.

      Cheers BK. Every like is appreciated ;) Ireland has something to see around every corner. The western counties have a dramatic coastline. It is not called the wild Atlantic way for nothing. ATB.

      surethingsfly I luckily live in Sth Wales and have access to some truly magical places, especially early mornings etc Why fishing can be great even when the fish don't bite. Some ppl don't get it.

    Another superb video, that fish and dawn light between 3-4 mins... magnificent! Thanks for putting these up, your Pollack vids got me back on the coast after too long away! All the best from Pembrokeshire.

      That's so cool of you to say DJ! There is a real feel good factor at dawn, fish are surplus to requirement. Pollock are king! The big dogs take you for a walk on the wild side. I hope you catch your nemesis! Good wishes to you.

      Thank you for saying that Judo! The places in which I often fish are invariably beautiful.It was always more about the setting than the act of fishing for me. Promotion of my Ireland as a place to visit maybe happens by default. I dream of returning to these places all the time. Thank you once again for leaving this comment. ATB.

    Another great video Peter. Are there still plenty of bass about. ATB Stewart

    • @surethingsfly
      @surethingsfly  9 лет назад

      Very cool of you to say Stewart! The bass are so scarce it's not funny. Trawlers come in so close, that you could cast a fly onto the deck. The populations of fish have dropped off a cliff this year, with an absolute no show from the pollock. Our inshore waters should be a sanctuary for all fish and off limits to big boats. I live in hope, good wishes to you!

  • @johnoconnor99

    What weight fly rod would you recommend for all round bass mullet pollock fishing. Thanks.

  • @m00nsplitter72
    @m00nsplitter72 9 лет назад +1

    I think my waders would soon turn malodorous seeing bruiser bass boiling within casting range, and casting technique always seems to get replaced by Tourette's-like spasms at critical moments like these.

    • @surethingsfly
      @surethingsfly  9 лет назад +2

      M00nsplitter It's hard not to fluff an opportunity but when you pull it off its a feeling like no other. Earlier this summer I had a window with a passing shoal. My heart sank looking down at my fly basket, it resembled a bowl of knotted pasta. C'est la vie! Good wishes to you M00nsplitter!

    Hi Peter. Its a shame what there doing to the fish stocks just to make a quick buck. They have been at it in the Irish sea with the mackerel sucking up 700 Tonnes at a time 3 times a day. And with it all the Bi catch which will probably include the Pollack. Lets hope one day someone will do something about it. ATB Stewart

    • @surethingsfly

      There is no escaping the inevitable truth and they know it. The effects of overfishing are being felt everywhere. I'm a positive person, negativity perpetuates itself, breeds dissatisfaction and clutters the mind. Things will have to change either way. The fish will survive, but maybe not all of them. ATB.

    Could have been a great video but ruined by music, why does everyone insist on playing music over their videos. Couldn't hear what you were saying half the time. Nothing better than the sound of the sea.

    • @surethingsfly
      @surethingsfly  6 лет назад +1

      You might be right Paul about the music. As for hearing what I was saying, I thought I would elevate the important bits. At the time I made this it felt good, but at the end of the day it's down to a personal choice. For any creator it's tough to edit something that might be of interest to others. At the very worst mute the sound ;)) I've many informational videos that might be an alternative. I wish you well on your travels, and your right nothing beats the sound of the sea, that's why we all go there. Tightlines to you.
