My favourite thing about Black Lace is the fact their names sounds like they should be some early 80s hair metal band. Instead they make the songs that you've danced to at every disco you've ever been to.
This might sound weird, but this song is nostalgic and brings memories from my childhood in early 2000s. They used to play it every night in mini discos where hotel staff brings kids together in stage and dance into this and other songs. That time were the golden days that hold a big part of my heart and it can’t be repeated, replaced and surpassed.

My great grandfather was 10th Light Horse in the first, my grandfather was 2/3rd Machine Gunner. I heard their stories. I remember them. When I was young, and I mean just a pup, I heard this song on a close to daily basis. I've not heard it in years. It was only today that I heard it ... and finally understood its message. I am proud of those who came before me, and grateful for what they gave me.
I loved that song back in the 80s. I remember doing that dance at discos. That was the thing if you wanted to hit the floor. You HAD to know the dances. It was a strong measure of how cool you were if you could nail them all. Agadoo. The Bus Stop. Nutbush. The list went on.
Why is it that I always seem to find myself in the odd obscure places of RUclips like this at 2 in the morning? A better question: why do I kinda like it?
Both personal friends of mine in the 80s. I was stood right next to Colin Routh as he was putting the backing vocals on the recording in the studio, set up in Alan's garage. Alan Barton was killed in an accident whilst driving the Smokey (the group) van in torrential rain in Germany, he never woke up. Colin resides in Tennerief. Both genuine people. Yes Colin did have an unproven accusation against him. I hope these songs will be enjoyed by many generations to come, I am proud to have been a part of it all. Hi-Fi Dave (I still hate that name) The Coast-field Club, Vickers Point, Ingoldmells Lincolnshire.
Definitely not a kids song, think what “push pineapple and shake the tree” could mean. Look up the lyrics for The Joker’ by Steve Miller Band, that has the words “really love your peaches want to shake your tree’ The lyrics are similar, the imagery is strong...can only mean one thing.
I mean, this was always played at my school discos - but did anyone come here from DanAndPhilGames? Edit: lmao wow more people than I thought cared about the song ahaha. (a right bop tho)
Having survived the 70s, I can verify that three quarters of pop music in that decade was basically this song. The "oldies" they play from that decade today are only that last quarter. We've done that thing all old people do: rewritten our youth.
Why is this in my rock list.............the last thing i remember is def leapord, then suddenly i lost track and am now dancing round my house to this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 xxxx
You have no idea how much this song was part of my childhood 😊. Me and my parents were on vacation in Mallorca in 1995 and every evening the hotel hosted the "Mini Disco" where they played this, "Superman", "The Music Man", "Hockey Cockey" and a few other tracks. Me at 5 years old danced my little ass off to every song 😅. Then I bought a cassette (those were the days 😀) and not only the songs but also the DJ's banters could be heard on it. I played it every summer after that because it reminded me so much of that vacation until we flew back to Mallorca 5 years later and I went to the Mini Disco again and this time I bought a CD 😁.
I hate it when people criticise this song. It's brilliant. I would go so far to say that it's one of the best songs ever written, if not, THE best. also, the production is amazing.
lol I'm an American, binging The Great British Baking show, and the new host (awesome lady!) just made a comment about this song, and I had to google it. LOVE this. so in class we were reading a book out loud and this song came up so we begged our teacher to play the song and she said she needed to psyche herself up and then she played it and we were begging her to turn it off halfway through and she didn't and said "careful what you wish for" we died the end

How did people not know this song before Dan and Phil it is a classic!
Jazz Windsor I knew it before them, just couldn't remember the name
Peter kay said on the Michael Parkinson show that he sang it on Karaoke in Las Vegas and the American people loved it loads!
I'm Greek and I didn't know there was an English version and then dan and Phil told me
i've had this song stuck in my head for weeks. thanks phil
I am proud of those who came before me, and grateful for what they gave me.
my big pa was in the SS
@@yungclimba the curveball is strong on this one 😂
Someone tried to play this when the family got together over Christmas... He's dead now.
That was probably the Cherry B.
😂😂😂
He died happy
I loved that song back in the 80s. I remember doing that dance at discos. That was the thing if you wanted to hit the floor. You HAD to know the dances. It was a strong measure of how cool you were if you could nail them all. Agadoo. The Bus Stop. Nutbush. The list went on.
Why is it that I always seem to find myself in the odd obscure places of RUclips like this at 2 in the morning? A better question: why do I kinda like it?
I found myself here on Christmas Eve
we made it all the way to 8 am this time *thumbs up n wink*
Because your insane?
@@ciarantimothy8081You killed Christams you BASTARDS; Southpark refference, haha.
This song + Nutbush + Macarena = Holy trinity of "I was an Australian child who was forced to listen to these all the time by my school."
Luv it , i remember when i was a kid & watched these guys in concert! It takes me back to every party of the 80s & 90s!!
I’m sad no one has acknowledged the absolutely glorious commentary provided in the subtitles.
"She showed me much more, not only to dance."
Are we sure this is a kids song😂?
Actually, this was never said to be a "kids" song...
@@pinchin330 *HAVE A SCREW SCREW SCREW*
Nobody thought this was a kids song
Who knows these days 😁
Definitely not a kids song, think what “push pineapple and shake the tree” could mean.
Look up the lyrics for The Joker’ by Steve Miller Band, that has the words “really love your peaches want to shake your tree’ The lyrics are similar, the imagery is strong...can only mean one thing.
I mean, this was always played at my school discos - but did anyone come here from DanAndPhilGames?
Edit: lmao wow more people than I thought cared about the song ahaha. (a right bop tho)

"I was born in the wrong generation, music before was so much more layered and complex than it is now"
Music before:
Yes. What's your point?
Still better than bustin gieber.
@Ralof today's music even worse.
Having survived the 70s, I can verify that three quarters of pop music in that decade was basically this song. The "oldies" they play from that decade today are only that last quarter. We've done that thing all old people do: rewritten our youth.
This was considered commercial cheese/annoying kiddies music when it came out in the 1980's no young adult with taste thought of it as serious music.
Why is this in my rock list.............the last thing i remember is def leapord, then suddenly i lost track and am now dancing round my house to this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 xxxx
Perfect Mix 😅
The Phandom in the comments warms my heart 🖤
I would go so far to say that it's one of the best songs ever written, if not, THE best. also, the production is amazing.
people said it was horrible
lol I'm an American, binging The Great British Baking show, and the new host (awesome lady!) just made a comment about this song, and I had to google it. LOVE this. I'm so sorry I missed this important part of history, lol :) If ya enjoy this, "lambada" is a portuguese/spanish ear worm from around the same time! Enjoy! Stay awesome like this jaunty little tune, humans!
I'm an American too, and I really do love this song so much. I can't stop listening to it. No way I can't.
This song brings back memories of when I was little and I was at butlins at Skegness and I was running to the skyline and they had this playing as you entered the skyline or they were playing this song somewhere in the skyline or somewhere in the butlins resort
A hei
I’ve been there twice and this song brings back memories
I'm supposed to be doing homework but I'm dancing to this...
lol
Same here omg
Well when you're down at the "jobcentre" you can show them your new moves.
classic 80's party track from black lace, if you live in britain in the 80's you know this song. hell yeah i love the words.
Nothing more embarrassing than watching your dad dance to this at family parties eh? Yeah this song was shit but it got the old folks up and we could nick their beer and vodka while they were dancing lol
Simon Bee true lol
My daughter's dance class danced to this on stage back in the early 80s, so cute, and what a happy song
I love this song! It's a feel good song. I dance all over my home when I listen to it. I had it as my ringtone at one point, and just for fun last summer, I was playing it on my phone and dancing while walking up the street, much to the amusement of bystanders.
THE BEST SONG EVER! I WANT THIS PLAYED AT MY FUNERAL. No, I am being serious. I adore this song.
ok
Its a happy silly sort of song
I love it
Are you a cricket bowler?
No you’re not.
my grandad had this at his funeral :))
so in class we were reading a book out loud and this song came up so we begged our teacher to play the song and she said she needed to psyche herself up and then she played it and we were begging her to turn it off halfway through and she didn't and said "careful what you wish for" we died the end
Died happy
shame is classic
Whoever sent this to Joel was a menace 😂
Goldbridge sent me here 😂😂

Going on a mad one as a kid on holiday, what a tune
We should start a campaign to get this to number one all over the world.... except the UK.
+Yoda on DMT Then we'll be starting an act of war on everyone!
+Yoda on DMT You can do that by creating a viral meme similar to the Harlem Shake just to piss off the haters.
I like how the one on the right has no idea what's going on and keeps looking around.
Please do. It would be hilarious

I lived in England from 1986 to 1992. I remember that every party I went to, people would perform a conga train everytime this song played. Don’t know if it is still a thing there. Ah, the nostalgia!
I'm getting so many repressed memories from this
But I'm still gonna sing
I hate it yet, I love it in a way.
My dad plays this all the time bless him
Your Dad sounds like a man with a taste of good music.
Callum Andrews or a DJ
Livvi Vendetta loves it
Livvi Vendetta loves this tune
Omg same here, my dad plays this too
how was i living without this video...
Britains drunken guilty pleasure
Yes...I think you'd have to be *very* drunk to enjoy this. Nearly comatose I should think, which is how I feel after listening to this. Thanks for the recommendations, RUclips. 😊
I am here because of Stevie T. And I don’t regret looool

One of the best and catchy songs I just heard 5 minutes ago.
Imma play this for my kid when I get a kid
Every Benidorm kids club had this tune belting out

Heard this on dan and Phil and a couple days later (today 21/12) it came on in my school disco XD
Me everytime I see my husband client called AGA : aaaga doo doo doo!!!
My brain : oh shit! Did i say that out loud
It's 2023, I've lived 40 years without hearing this song...until today.
48 for me until now
No, you really haven't been.
You haven’t really lived until you’ve heard this song tbh
There's no escape. No matter how many decades you manage to hide, "Agadoo" will return.
Dammit, I almost escaped! 61 when I'm first hearing it. Half of it, anyway...I'm outta here.
That settles it, I'm blasting this banger out of my tank in ww3
