- Comics industry legend and Comic-Con Inkpot Award winner Bob Wayne spent 28 years being the friendly face of DC Comics, as their head of sales & marketing. Bob was there at the birth of the direct market and worked at DC through an extended era of supercharged industry-revolutionising creativity. Bob sits down with his old pal (and one of his favourite Englishmen), Forbidden Planet TV’s Andrew Sumner, at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 and talks through his wildly eventful career - from his secret origin in Fort Worth, Texas, to his early years attending conventions & selling comics professionally, to his almost three decades marketing some of the greatest comic books of all time! Along the way, Bob remembers his friendship with DC president Paul Levitz, discusses working with Will Eisner and encountering Steve Ditko and receives some surprise guest questions (from Diamond Comics overlord William Schanes, Inkpot Award-winning art historian David Siegel and his old DC Comics staffers Fletcher Chu--Fong & Stuart Shreck)!

Wonderful panel - thanks so much for posting!
Our pleasure!
That was a fun 'Ditko' story!!!
Sumner says: "Hello Mark! I knew that you'd like it, mate!"
Hi Bob! True story--back in the mid '70s I talked Bob into going to San Diego Comic Con for the first time and he set up as a comics dealer. He was mad at me for talking him into coming because his sales weren't very good. Different times.
@@johnnyachziger3017 GREAT story! 👍🏻😃🚀
Do you not show the side screen in all your videos?
We show them when we can! You can see them on Glenn Hetrick's Star Trek panel, for example. But we can't show them when there are copyright or privacy issues or the guest wants the images shown live but not online (which happens more than you would think) 🚀
