    Anyone who's second guessing paid add-ons needs to consider the time-cost of money. If your job pays you $20 per hour, then one hour of your time equals $20. So if an add-on that costs $20 will save you at least an hour over all your projects, then it's worth the money.

      Thats completely my mentality and I cant think of one addon I have bought that has not made its money back time and time over!

    For that last one, you could just pick the n-gons in face mode and use "triangulate faces" from the face menu. (I'm kind of surprised there's no "select n-gons" in the select menu.)

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  7 месяцев назад

      That would be a great select option. I bet that wouldn't be too hard to create with Geometry Node Tools.

      You kinda can select n-gons if you select any quad -> Select Similar (Shift+G) -> Polygon Sides -> change "Compare" property to "Greater" -> deselect the quad. Yeah, in typical "vanilla = many keys to press" fashion. :)

    Omg! I spent so freaking long cleaning up my last meshes. Getting rid of zero faces and merging vertexs. God i wished I had known how to use these quick saves.

    When it comes to using triangulate modifier you can set it to triangulate ngons with 5 or more verts only so it will not touch quads. But I understand your demonstration as sometimes it's worth triangulating your mesh by hand and I machin3tools is very helpfull in this matter

    8:00 How did you get the problem areas to automatically be yellow?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ah... that's because the faces will be flipped and I keep my face orientation showing. Its covered in the second part of this video: ruclips.net/video/orqt8Fw7q8o/видео.html

    • @eitantal726
      @eitantal726 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@ArtisansofVaulSomething else to think about: Would be good to also easily detect face-on-top-of-face. This is the reason Show normals has some alpha even to the correct orientation. If you have a face on top of another, it will look different

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  7 месяцев назад

      @eitantal726 normally that's not too hard to spot just from the colour on top of each other, no need for the alpha.

      I could but as you have said there wasn't a font that was what I really wanted. Or at least it was vastly faster to search for an image.

    Is there any way to improve 3d scans by crisping up the rounded edges or deepening the the lines?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  7 месяцев назад

      There is but not really as an automated process. I found its pretty easy to go into sculpt mode and tweek bits, smooth and sharpen the edges of parts. The other option (which is what I generally do) is to remake the object in Blender over the top of it to get perfect dimensions. But that's quite dependant on how complex it is.

    I usually do these kinds of things in AutoCAD or other CAD program as it allows really simple geometry which then you can export as a .dxf and there are plugins that allow Blender to import those files then I just extrude them. Super rapid fire way to do such shapes.
