Absolutely brilliant and the best thing about it you weren't rambling on in the background like so many of these videos to the point of boredom instead you typed the instructions and just got on with it. Have subscribed. ;0)))
Oh my goodness! I had to pause the video just because I am blown away by the tape dual purpose! Beautiful and ingenious! Not sure if it was your idea but it was you that first showed it to me!!! Thank you so very much!
just starting out in gelli printing and this is the first video that came up. This has covered everything and I don't think I need to watch any more. Thank you
Thank you for making this fantastic video! A year ago I was searching for all this information when I was first starting to pull prints and have been watching countless videos to get more instruction and inspiration. Now all the basics are here for a beginner!
Thank you so much for this video, it was so easy to follow. So glad I found it. I have resisted buying a gelli plate for years but gave in last week. Can't wait to get going with it!
Tricky- notice the purple and pink is still on the roller for the “too much paint causes mud” sample- so does adding purple to yellow and punk to green...
I know nothing about gel printing and was looking for info to help me make a decision. This video was very helpful; I especially liked how you showed what happens when you use too much paint,
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first plate and brayers but it dawned on me that I had loads of questions about using them. This wonderful video answered most of them! Thank you, you are generous with your info and also a great inspiration. Kate. 🌻
This video is great and THE go-to for beginners! It has many good tips to have in mind before using a gel plate for the first time. Thank you for making this video!
I only just heard about Gelli art and my search on RUclips found your channel. I’m loving what I have watched so far. I’m definitely going to give this a try in the new year. You now have a new subscriber! 💕
hello! in the 'too much paint' part of the video (time stamp 3:00) , you started the brayer in the blue paint which turned the yellow to mud very quickly and showed that a clean blend was next to impossible. in the 'less paint' part of the video (time stamp 3:43) you rolled in the yellow first so you were able to get a nicer blend. although i agree that you should not use a lot of paint, i feel this comparison was biased to make the 'less paint' option seem better. i know this is not a scientific experiment, and i don't pretend that it is, i just thought if you are comparing, then the steps should be the same..... otherwise i like the video, found it very informative and as a very new person to gel printing, i really appreciate that you took the time to make it. i am excited about this new technique and the few times i have tried it, i just couldn't stop! i have so many backgrounds that i am sure i can't make that many cards! lol i'm definitely giving you a thumbs up and will be looking for some of your other videos. happy holidays to you and yours!
loved this -- I have Gelli plates, and have been watching videos -- but haven't done anything with it yet -- this is a good basic starting video - thank you!
So helpful to this beginner. One thing I saw on a FB Gelli printing page was that paper pulls out and dries the plate and not to use it. And to store it upright. And also how to get rid of bubbles on the plate. Can you clarify these? Thank you so much!!
As @iamdawt mentioned, sometimes air can get trapped between those plastic layers because it is harder to get perfectly smooth, like you can with plain white copy paper. Those air pockets can change the texture of your plate which transfers to your prints!
I got my gelli plate yesterday and was so excited to get started... I applied paint using a brush and used canson mixed media sketchbook paper and acrylic craft paint...the paint did not lift well off the plate...I tried again applying a thicker paint layer all over the plate,,,less than 1/3 of the paint transferred to the paper on the first pull, and none on the second pull... the paint remained on the plate and had to be washed off... Any hints what I am doing wrong?
You can actually make yourself with Gelatine. My understanding is because it is soft the Gellie plate you layering the paint your lifting the layering one at a time, you can even get a print from a magazine to reprint it's self.just put in Gellie plate you will find recipe's to make. It's a popular art form at the moment, Brigirt is wonderfully talented, she has a lot of excellent videos you'll learn alot, hope this helps you...
This video is very much appreciated, thank you! It has helped take the fear out of the process. I recently read that storing Gelli plates in an upright position helps prevent pitting, but you recommend storing them flat. I'm going with your recommendation until I hear otherwise.
I mainly make journals, but I love to Gelli plate, haven't in awhile. Came across your channel, and so want to play :) 😀 New subbie here, would love to be crafty RUclips friends! Tfs
I used plain white copy paper. I got a stain on the paper and my gell plate is dry now 😢. Doesn’t stick anymore. I tried in the case it came but got bubbles. So what is the best option????
@@GelliArts would a plastic zip bag alone maintain the gelli, or is the paper necessary? Instead of the typing paper, I am thinking of using sheets of Yupo or similar synthetic material.
From somebody who has never heard of this art, (I stumbled across the video), what you don’t actually explain is what the plate is made of and why the paint does what it does on the plate etc. Can somebody tell me more?
I need to know: why to make the gelli prints and how they could be used in reality? I don't see any artists, who are selling their art, used any gelli prints in their arts, I see acrylic painting, watercolors painting. So, my question is--why do use time and paint to do gelli prints?
One of the better gel plate printing method videos on RUclips.
Absolutely brilliant and the best thing about it you weren't rambling on in the background like so many of these videos to the point of boredom instead you typed the instructions and just got on with it. Have subscribed. ;0)))
Thanks very much for a straightforward introduction to the use of Gelli plates - subscribed.

That was pretty amazing. It answered a lot of questions I have had about printing on jelly plates. I really appreciate this video! 🌻Lisa🌻
Thank you for this great introduction! Why exactly is a gel plate used? Would I not get the same effects with a glass or plexiglas etc?

Excellent video, thank you! This has answered a lot of my questions. 😍
Really appreciate all of the tips as they were very helpful!! Made a lot of sense why I was having so much trouble!! I can’t thank you enough!!
Thank you so much for many tips.
Could you please show us how to clean the brayer as well?
Cleaning the brayer is always my concern.
Thanks so much! My gelli plate came today in the post so i was keen to know the care routine and how to everything important 😂❤
My plate pakaging read not to store the plate on something absorbent, like paper.
Exactly ❤
This video is fantastic - I am a novice so I appreciate all of the info.!
Thank you for making and sharing this video, it explains so well what to do and what not to do.
Very, very helpful. Thank you! I have just discovered this gel plate and can't wait to buy one and start playing!

Thanks for this very helpful video! The copy paper absorbs oil from the plate, is this not going to affect how it works?
Fantastic beginner info!
I wish I had watched it before learned a lot
Thank you. I needed this!!! Plus I need to review it often!!!💗
Very helpful, thank you!
Very helpful, thank you. Your videos are very easy to follow and I get much better results.
Thank you for this excellent and very helpful video !! It’s just brilliant 🎉🎉🎉
Why don’t you store it back between the two plastic sheets. That it came with?
I wondered about that, too! Hope you get an answer!
I recently read that air can get trapped between the layer of plastic and the Gelli plate, and cause pitting which will then transfer to your prints.
As @iamdawt mentioned, sometimes air can get trapped between those plastic layers because it is harder to get perfectly smooth, like you can with plain white copy paper. Those air pockets can change the texture of your plate which transfers to your prints!
Thank you Brigit, very informative yea!!!

Can I cut the gel plate to a specific size? I’m desperately looking for a 2x2 or 1.5x1.5 inch gel plate for a specific project.
Thank you for this simple, informative video!
excellent video!
Amazingly helpful! Thank you!
Super helpful! Thank you! I've been afraid that I would mess up my Gelli plate, and so I haven't been using it. That's silly.
This is sooo helpful. Thank you!
This was the best video and straight to the point. Thank you!
Could you use screen printing ink
Great explanation. I have one question,
Can I do gel printing on any other material? Like fabric, wood?
Thank you for sharing this information ❤
So helpful!!! Thank you! This answered so many questions I have.
Thank you for showing so much detail
So very helpful 👍 thanks for taking the time xx
The package says 'no acrylic paint'. Is it really safe to use acrylic paint?
Perfect video! Just got my plate today.. what paper can I use?
GREAT tips!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Sooo helpful! Thank you!
Thank you. This is a great tutorial.
Excellent info! Wish I’d learned this before I started using mine. 🥰
Fantabulous! Thanks for sharing! 😊
What kind of paper do you recommend?
This was very helpful. I really like the packing tape tip.

Interesting about cleaning the plate with olive oil!
Where can you buy the tape used to clean plate. What I use to pick up images is not as clear. Thank you for sharing!
It’s clear packing tape so you can buy it at a stationary store or anyplace where shipping supplies are sold.
Thank you, most helpful beginners vdeo i have found, hugs sara
Thank you for showing us.
Thanks for this! Soooo helpful!
Wonderful information
Very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks soooo much.
Excellent!!!
One site says to store flat, another says upright. Any long term storage solutions?
Flat, but don't put anything on it. Don't store it on paper, but use the plastic sheet it came with.
Very helpful!TFS

I was always taught not to store the plate on paper or anything absorbent as it would leach out into the paper and ruin the plate. It they incorrect?
If it's plain white copy paper, it won't ruin your plate!
I used plain white copy paper. I got a stain on the paper and my gell plate is dry now 😢. Doesn’t stick anymore. I tried in the case it came but got bubbles. So what is the best option????
The plate contains mineral oils; storing it on an absorbent surface is not a good idea.

Paper keeps sticking to my plate when I do a pull, please help!
I’ve used tissue paper, music sheets and printer paper only. Usually it’s the printer paper that sticks, but the music sheets have also stuck.
Maybe you're using heavy body paints? Anyway, the plate sticks less after a short period.
Danke ❤️
Can I use polymer clay with the gelli plate
