Thanks😀
Right On! We love this channel!!!

👍
Congrats on the new channel Marty! I liked seeing the actual POV walk-through, going up and down the stairs and seeing more rooms in the machine. Also liked see the size of the machines relative to your height. Good job, keep going!
Thanks. 👍
Keep these vids coming Marty. This is a very good first effort!👍👍
Thanks, as I run across interesting things I will try video them.
Well done Marty! Congrats on your first endeavor with this kind of video. Narration is fine, concise and full of interesting facts & figures. Videography was well done. Only once did I notice a pan that could have been just a little slower (in my opinion, anyway). Great idea to show Sally standing in the bucket, really shows the size reference between human and machine. You did a great job and it was educational indeed. Hope to see more in the future.👍👏👏👏
Thanks so much. 👍
The construction is reminiscent of ship building. Very compartmentalized. Even the doors are hatches. Great job on the tour. Thanks so much for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARTY. Keep the videos coming
Thank you, we will definitely give it a try when I find content.
Bravo for this Marty.
Thank you.
I would not have guessed this was your first video, watched all of it, good job.
It was my first real attempt on my own. 😬
Thank you for bringing us along to a place that I'll probably never get to see in person
That's quite an incredible machine!
Love the in depth heavy equipment videos
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video.
Happy Belated Birthday Marty and Congratulations on your new channel! p.s. I shared your video on my FB feed
Thanks for the birthday wishes and thanks for sharing.😀
Happy Birthday...and enjoyed the video. Just adjust the volume up and it will be perfect!
Thanks, I’ll work on that.
I wonder how many employees had to be used to operate that thing per shift! That is amazing!
I was actually thinking the same thing and I was thinking at least 5 per shift.
3. the operator, the groundman who moved the machine and the greaser@@MeanderingMarty
Brutus is the largest still existing, the largest was 3x heavier The Captain, at 28 million pounds. Being a KS native, thank you for this video, it is now on my bucket list to visit.
Thanks for the information and I’m happy you enjoyed the video.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
Great job Marty, very enjoyable video. She taught you well 😂 - I really like the POV style and look forward to your next one. Take care both of you. Cheers Mark (LEEDS ENGLAND).
Thanks, now I need to find a topic for my next project.
It's big enough to house the workers and a cafeteria for hot meals.
It definitely is with a 1/2 basketball court. 😂
Way to go Marty. Look forward to your future content dude.
Thank you so much.
great it is preserved all the other giants were scrapped
My thought exactly. 👍
We had walking drag lines her in Corby uk,to take off the overburden for British Steel, ginormous!
Sounds like a machine I would like to see. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Running that shovel off of A/C to D/C, was engineering genius.
I worked in a mill years ago that did the same thing a/c motor to d/c generator to d/c motor and when you walked into the motor room you could actually smell electricity in the air.
That is one honkin' rope shovel!
😂
M-A-R-T-Y!
Heck Yah!
Thanks for the great tour.
Thank you.
I like wire rope shovels. I appreciate your saying the bucket holds 90 yds. Like it you had Sally inside of it. Helped to give the bucket size a comparison.
I think it did to. 👍
Thanks for the tour !
Thanks for watching. 👍
Very good presentation and narration! 😊
Thank you. 😊
i'm from ohio. I need to put that on my route whenever I go west. thanks for the video.
Thank you 😊
Good job! Keeper moving!😊
Will do. 👍
You did good, I enjoyed your narration.
Thank you 😊
The only improvement I'd suggest is to adjust your volume up. We watched on our TV and normally have RUclips volume around 12 to 13. For your video it started out ok at 15 but we shortly had to turn it to 24 as your voice dropped. I notice the volume seems better on my tablet, so not sure what was the deal on TV. Otherwise it was great. Keep it up.
👍
My home area. Stood in the bucket when in HS when it was operating.
That’s awesome! 😎
they really should put in mock-ups of the missing equipment. I believe there si a break room for the crew (more than just the operator) that was not shown
Possibly as there were closed off areas.
Marty, Congratulations, and Thank you for the technical insights into that digging machine. The method of assembly of that machine would have also been interesting to see back when it was built. When I was much younger, we had a family trip to the taconite mines in Bemidji Minnesota where we took a family picture standing in a drag link bucket. I thought that bucket was huge, but the scoop on Big Brutus was notably larger. I look forward to your future discoveries along the way!
Thank you
Mind: blown 🤯
👍
Nice tour! My wife and I looked at Big Brutus about 20 years ago, when my kid sister was teaching over in Pittsburg, Ks. I don't remember if we could go into the beast then.
If you get in the area it is a definite must see again. If I get in the area I’ll go over again as I thought it was amazing.
Great detail. I really enjoyed the video. Only use a higher volume. I could barely hear you.
👍
😢
Hey dude don't be so hard on yourself you did a very good job at explaining the parts that you didn't know about the video was good okay keep them coming out and I will definitely watch them okay thanks Charles Williams later on jelly beans for now okay
Thanks so much. 👍
Great video. I wonder if there is any video of this amazing machine in action.
Might have to look to see if I can find one. 👍
I wish my first video was this good. Like said by others sound could be improved in my opinion I would rather have to turn sound down then needing to max it out. A couple times I did want to ask you to relax a little but my guess is that will come in time otherwise as a techy person I wouldn't have minded a little more info for example voltage and so on as well it is nice when guys get a short clip of info cards or add pictures so I could pause and read if im intrested.
👍
Imagine your machine is so big it has rooms with furniture a pictures hanging on the walls
This would definitely be the one.
It would have been nice to see "The Captain", at 28 million pounds (13 kt), it was triple that of Big Brutus. But sadly, it's gone.
Yes, it would have been.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏿
I was lucky enough to see Muskie up close the year before they scrapped it and got a picture of my old truck sitting in the bucket.
Brutus is so big, it must have its own zip code, lol!
😂
Wonder if this is where Manitowoc got the crawler design of their now retired 21000 from.
Some aspects could have been the same but I believe the 21000 crawler was half as high if my memory serves me correctly when I stood next to one at the crane company.
Thank you for tour of this special heavy metal Large boy 😊❤😊 did they build any kind of restroom facility on board. I think the big room behind operating station was a coffee break room. The two pedals believe thay are for swing. The "V" shaped control on Left control lever might have been the bucket floor tipper. If you ever are in Salt lake City, check out Bingham Canyon Copper Mine.( The information guard building at main entrance, the people are very friendly and give you a map to the visitors center, you will not be running into any off road haul dumps, It has a overlook view visitor center. Looking down into the huge cut benches. The modern ( P&H) big electric Shovels are NOT as huge as this bad boy, but they are big looking down at them. The thing that impressed me was looking at the biggest graders CAT makes. Three working in tandem keeping haul road smooth, huge windrolls on side.
I didn’t see a restroom but I wouldn’t doubt if they had one back then. Thank you for all the information and thanks for watching. 😉
I thought you did an excellent job with the camera and narration, but I was definitely after more technical information.
Technical information was provided at the end.
@MeanderingMarty yes, however I the technical information explained during the walk through in conjunction with video !!! . There are my thoughts as requested,.
There’s always a pigeon, that’ll come shit on your hood. John Prine.
MARTY my big shovel tour guide friend
there is a U-Tube video out there called ( The Worlds Largest Shovel Still in Existence) presenter is ( Mining & Shorts)
It has the building of and information about the big shovel. Just a FYI
Thanks.
Where did the "Big Muskie" rank in the size contest?
For a first vid ya didn't do to bad. Ya gotta start somewhere and there those out there who will "give you more critique than you want"....
Thank you.
Hi Marty.
Hello there. 🤣
Awesome! Thank you for taking me on an exciting adventure. Why did it stop work?
I believe it was just in place for the Hoover dam. And when the dam was finished, they didn’t have much use for it anymore.
amazing
Glad you enjoyed it.
