    Southern Pacific had much better seats in their locomotives. They were softer, more adjustable, with lumbar control and more. It looks like U.P. wised up on the seating for their employees.We also didn't have to wear those dimw3itted yellow vests. I retired as a conductor for S.P in 1996 just before U.P. took over... Thank God!

    Dang, his story becoming an engineer got cut off after being on the Flagstaff fire department. He called the company asking about the train... Sounded like a good story. Always wondered if the long distance freight crews had bathrooms on the engines? Thanks for the ride!

    GP30 ... I always liked the odd high ceiling in those 30's... AND listening to that whine of the turbocharger... Ran those babies for 42 years on the UP and still love that sound! "Smoke Em'...!

    I worked on this unit in the early eighties in Union Pacific's Salt Lake diesel shop. She looks better now than she did then!

      🤔 their must be, I once learned to run a small yard mover for a mill I worked for to bring ingot cars into our railroad dock from another employee, I’m sure they got a place for that somewhere. Thanks so much for watching. 👍

    My uncle used to work for the railroad. I had an opportunity to ride along with the pusher team for a day at Horseshoe Curve in Altoona but I couldn't get away.

    I grew up on The NorthBound CSX Rail Yard At Flint, Michigan, My. Entire Life Was Listening To The Cars Being Broke Down and Switched Out As Well Fast Movers Heading North and South Bound. I live North of Where I grew Up 10 Miles and Still A 1/4 miles From The Very Same CSX Line. To This Day I Know Exactly What Time it Is, Or Within 10 Minutes or So Every Night I Can Hear That Lonesome Whistle Blow For Five Miles North Or South Of Us. When GM Left Flint, Michigan That Killed CSX Rail Yard. Although it’s Still There Just Not as Busy Ss Back Then In The 70,80,90.

We rode in a Kindergarten Classroom Field Trip in Bendle School, from Burton Township, Michigan, to Durand Michigan & Return in one afternoon, that was in 1955!     Engineer is a natural. I’m guessing he was an engine man in his career as a firefighter. A natural with the controls, smooth, zero fumbling, confident.

    I live about 400 feet from the Fort Worth rail yard. I think it is the maintenance part... Anyways nice to see the inside of the cab as I hear them 24-7...
