This is in Wisconsin. Thanks for watching. 😎
@@MeanderingMarty thanks and can't wait to see your next episode 😁
Multi million dollar machine and they couldn’t afford to put a bathroom?
I hope it’s got air conditioning
It’s in the caboose. Thanks for sharing.
It had a house window air conditioner installed. Thanks for commenting.
How do you drive it with no steering wheel
It’s on rails so you just accelerate or brake. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Southern Pacific had much better seats in their locomotives. They were softer, more adjustable, with lumbar control and more. It looks like U.P. wised up on the seating for their employees. We also didn't have to wear those dimw3itted yellow vests. I retired as a conductor for S.P in 1996 just before U.P. took over... Thank God!
Great information and a story, thank you so much for sharing and watching our video. 👍
8 min forward and 8 minutes backwards?
If that’s approximately what the video comes to, I would say that is accurate. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@MeanderingMarty No I was really wondering if that is this track? Just a ride between two stations back and fourth all day long. And yes this is what the video shows, so that's what I can make from it.
Constant bells and horn would do my head in.
Yes I agree but I think that eventually you probably will tune the noise out, or go crazy 🤪. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Dang, his story becoming an engineer got cut off after being on the Flagstaff fire department. He called the company asking about the train... Sounded like a good story. Always wondered if the long distance freight crews had bathrooms on the engines? Thanks for the ride!
I didn’t see any bathroom in the engine but the caboose I believe had one. Thanks so much for watching.👍
What museum is this?
Las Vegas.
“I was a city fireman”. This man is old school and class with intellect. Notice the phrasing and how he carried himself young men.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching our video. 😉
❤Awesome wonderful workshop sharing posting operacion fantastic locomotive New York Union Pacific congratulations pictures American thank you ❤!
Thanks for watching and sharing.👍
GP30 ... I always liked the odd high ceiling in those 30's... AND listening to that whine of the turbocharger... Ran those babies for 42 years on the UP and still love that sound! "Smoke Em'...!
That’s a great story, you can tell I was enjoying the sound. Thanks for sharing and watching. 👍
I wonder how much fuel a big freight train goes thru in a day.
I’m sure it is a heck of a lot! I can’t imagine. 🤔 Thanks for watching.
I worked on this unit in the early eighties in Union Pacific's Salt Lake diesel shop. She looks better now than she did then!
That’s great! Thank you so much for sharing that. 👍
Sure would have liked to see the rest of the train. Why the omission???
I don’t feel comfortable filming people and their children, sorry for that. Thank you for question and watching. 😉
I would love to be a train engineer, is there any school to go to to learn everything about trains?🚂
🤔 their must be, I once learned to run a small yard mover for a mill I worked for to bring ingot cars into our railroad dock from another employee, I’m sure they got a place for that somewhere. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
My one and only bucket list item is to ride in the cab of a working locomotive and meet a Leon. I just think it would be a great and interesting experience.
My bucket item #56 is to be a hobo on the rails for a few weeks and not end up in Alaska. Thank you for sharing and watching. 😎
My uncle used to work for the railroad. I had an opportunity to ride along with the pusher team for a day at Horseshoe Curve in Altoona but I couldn't get away.
Wish you could have done that. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
@@MeanderingMarty Me too. Had commitments.
Master driver, love your work 😮
Thanks for watching and the great response. 👍
How did you get a ride on that 844?
I asked and they said yes! Thanks for watching. 👍
like bein in a boat. rockin
Yes it was a little shaky at times. 😳 Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Gotta have that banana for the road
😂 exactly! Thanks for watching.
Just guessing it was probably a warden station, kept all the gear n trucks for fighting fires n stuff, just a guess.
I was thinking for maintenance and some government cars or trucks. 🤷♂️ Thank you for watching and commenting.
Not familiar with this location. Looks like a ride-a-long for tourists?
👍 thanks so much for watching.
No safety stop
Guess not. Thanks for watching. 👍
The *real* 844 is steam powered. 😉 I do love the paint job on that diesel though. Very clean.
Yes that thing was looking like it just rolled out of the factory. Thanks again for watching. 😎
their is a banana in the cab of the union pacific!
🍌. Thanks so very much for watching . 🤣
I grew up on The NorthBound CSX Rail Yard At Flint, Michigan, My. Entire Life Was Listening To The Cars Being Broke Down and Switched Out As Well Fast Movers Heading North and South Bound. I live North of Where I grew Up 10 Miles and Still A 1/4 miles From The Very Same CSX Line. To This Day I Know Exactly What Time it Is, Or Within 10 Minutes or So Every Night I Can Hear That Lonesome Whistle Blow For Five Miles North Or South Of Us. When GM Left Flint, Michigan That Killed CSX Rail Yard. Although it’s Still There Just Not as Busy Ss Back Then In The 70,80,90.
Thank you for your story from the early years, I remember more general rail traffic back then in my town but. Thanks also for choosing the watch our video. 👍
Man I'd give anything to do this
I consider myself very fortunate that I have done this. Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
Good sounding 16 EMD 645 not crazy that’s power
It’s the kind of power that makes your hair stand up! When you stand that close to that engine you feel it clean through your body. Thank you for your comment. 👍
I’m thinking if you’re an engineer for any length of time, you’ve hit a car or two, right?
Of course, cars and semi trucks like to try and beat trains but some times fail. Thanks for watching our video. 😉
Every boy's dream.
Even a few grown men! 😂🤣😅 Thanks so much for sharing and watching.
Have you seen the steam winch at the Quincy copper mine?
No, I might have to go check it out. Thanks so very much for watching and commenting. 👍
Thats so easy to drive!
For some there is Not much to them but the most important thing is safety and giving braking distance and Watch, Watch and Watch some more.
We love you Amtrak 231!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
👍
Did you see EX Amtrak F40PHR unit 231???
I must of missed that one. Thanks so very much for watching. 😉
Your welcome. @MeanderingMarty
I really like the multiple views. Letting us look around is way more fun than just sitting the camera in the windshield. Keep up the good work
Thank you I tried to do exactly that so everyone can get a good long look from multiple areas. Thank you for your comments and watching. 👍
@@MeanderingMarty , This is the first time I've ridden in a train since I was five years old. We rode in a Kindergarten Classroom Field Trip in Bendle School, from Burton Township, Michigan, to Durand Michigan & Return in one afternoon, that was in 1955! Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed it.
Where can I go to run that line?
Nevada. Thanks for watching.👍
Engineer is a natural. I’m guessing he was an engine man in his career as a firefighter. A natural with the controls, smooth, zero fumbling, confident.
I never looked at it that way before but I think you’re right about him. Thank you for your input and watching our video. 👍
It makes sense. He looks like he's been running machinery a long time
Just found this, thanks for the ride.
Thank you for watching. 👍
Beautiful old school locomotive, glad to see it operated
Thank you for sharing and watching. 😉
@ amen!
I live about 400 feet from the Fort Worth rail yard. I think it is the maintenance part... Anyways nice to see the inside of the cab as I hear them 24-7...
That’s awesome to live that close and like trains. 👍 Thanks so much for your comment and watching.
Looked like a nice place to live
At one time it was picture perfect but now it is just too far gone. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I ran a 30 on the Western Maryland Senic rail road It looks way better in UP colors than black
That’s sounds like my dream job! Thanks so much for sharing and watching my video. 😉
Beautiful geep 30
It is. 👍
OH YEAH!
👍 Thanks for watching.
Very cool
Thanks, it was a treat to ride this behemoth! 😁 thanks for watching my video.
I have a question: When you're going backwards, how does th engineer know when to sound the horn for the crossing that he has no way of seeing (nor how far away from it he is) ??
There also was an engineer in the caboose with a radio. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
only in America do loco drivers sit sideways.
Thanks for sharing and watching. 😉
