    Hey everyone! This is a fairly advanced chainmail pattern so I wanted to revisit it in this video and create a super detailed instructional video showing you everything you need to know about it. I talk about starting a full Persian 6-1 chain, demonstrate the pattern, teach you how to connect ends, and show a speed weaving technique that will save you time on longer chains. Enjoy! :)

    You bring upon this puzzle of perplexity a great degree of clarity well done your Instructions are outstandingly clear and the tips and tricks you presented are really neat as I have seen other videos on the same subject and nobody beats it better to the point showing it going together as you have brilliant just brilliant puts a better spin on a complex puzzle of medieval art

    OMGosh! Can't imagine even trying this with rings smaller than the 5/16, IE 8mm, you used. Sure am glad just invested in the Xuron tweezer nosed pliers, straight and bent, esp. for connecting to ends.
    Really like the look of this pattern. Your close-up and camera angle really helped me see exactly how to do the pattern. TFS!

    i bought a chainmail starter kit and tried using their online guide. All of my chains came out as tangled messes. Five minutes of watching you work and I now have an actual chain! So excited to start making things, would really love to see a guide on how to integrate scales into a piece.

    Whats a good size ring to do multiple wallet chain styles. I was thinking of getting 16g 3/8 rings to make wallet chains. Is that a good size for most wallet chains? Thank you, love the video

    I like your videos. Helpful in so many ways, in the idea of re learning chain mail. But no matter what I still can't this damn pattern down. And I've seen all the tips and tricks. With ten mm jump rings and twelve, I can get it down. But any smaller, yeah not happening for me. An I really like this pattern but can't get the damn thing down. Lol

      The dimensions only slightly matter but can impact the final product. Some weaves require specific aspect ratios or aspect ratio range. In this video, he said he used 16g wire size 5/16" (assuming he bought the rings) the 5/16th" is the dimension of the rod used to form the ring. So 16g 5/16" is an AR of 5.3. Meaning he can also use 18g 1/4" for the same AR or as he showed @ 1:17 he used 20g 1/8", which is an AR of 3.9
      I am just a beginner in this, but you can find chainmail weave tutorials that will tell the aspect ratio or you have to do math like above and decide for yourself.
      Hope this helped somewhat.

    Why show us how to speed weave at the end only part way then speed up the video so we can't follow?????DUH!

    • @timshaw8204
      @timshaw8204  7 лет назад +1

      It's literally just the same step over and over again, I do show it once in real time. If you need to, just re-watch that a few times until you get it. The only difference between the speed weaving technique is that you put closed rings on the open ring as you weave, so most people don't need to see it repeated in real time after I've already explained how to put the open ring on the chain...

    Great vid. Just one point. If you, sir, could put "american exceptionalism" aside and start using metric system as %90 of the world, your vid would be even better.

    • @BubbleBunnyy
      @BubbleBunnyy 2 года назад +2

      That’s hard when all you’ve learned is one thing. The metric system confuses me because I was taught a stupid system.

    • @user-eu6oy4zp1u
      @user-eu6oy4zp1u 2 года назад +1

      @@BubbleBunnyy it's not stupid, but it is quite outdated. And is an "inheritance" from time when america was under english thumb.

    • @BubbleBunnyy
      @BubbleBunnyy 2 года назад +1

      @@user-eu6oy4zp1u yea I just really have a hard time grasping the metric system. Idk if I’m just dumb or that’s a common thing for people who have known that their whole life. Whenever someone uses kg or cm I have to translate it on google 😭
