Rudy is an gigantic albino Baryonyx. The Baryonyx is basically a smaller version of a Spinosaurus without the fin. If you ever watched Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, you will see one coming from the tunnel on the island. Anyway, from what I heard, they were going to make Rudy a Spino, but because of Jurassic Park 3, they decided to remove the fin (making him a Bary), but they kept him the size of a Spino. That said, this is my favorite Ice Age movie because I was obsessed with dinos as a kid, and Buck is my favorite character.

This one is my personal favorite, I love Buck’s character! I love dinosaurs to the point where I’m kind of debating on studying them as a career as so I am very bias when it comes to this movie or any dinosaur movie tbh 😅 Also idk if anyone has said yet, I haven’t gone through the comments, but Rudy is an albino Baryonyx which is closely related to Spinosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus!

Ice Age is (at least up to this point) what every film series should be in that every film (again I emphasize; up to this point) has topped the one before it… up to this point. Dawn of the Dinosaurs is definitely my favorite in the series. Ice Age 4 & 5…. Definitely have some VERY diminishing returns.
I think that they should have stopped at four. Honestly five just feels like way to much, and SIX?!?! I wish instead of five and six they did a separate movie about how Buck got down there and his adventures with Rudy, maybe a show.
the big dinosaur villain was supposed to be a Spinosaurus,but they changed it into a Baryonyx to avoid copying Jurassic Park III,they only kept the size because a real Baryonyx was really small compared to a T.rex.
The second Ice Age remains and will forever remain my favorite,probably mainly because of a heavy nostalgia effect,the story is the following:
a year before(or maybe the same,I don't remember)the release of Ice Age in 2002,I watched my first naturalistic documentary,it was on prehistoric mammals(the name's Walking With Beasts),and my favorite episode was precisely the one set during one of the last ice ages,and it mainly followed a herd of Mammoths,so watching a movie,plus animated,with one of the main character being a Mammoth,was everything to me,and I want to specify that I was veeeeery little,I had no idea of how movies work,so,knowing about a continuation of the movie I was obsessed with blew my mind,I couldn't believe it,I screamed and jumped,and I ended up loving the shit out of it,and it still holds up that place to this day

Rudy, the largest dinosaur, was based on a Baryonyx, but they were significantly smaller than a Tyrannosaurus rex in reality. It was chosen because of its crocodile-like appearance.
Buck is definitely one of my favorite characters. He was a really nice addition to the rest of the characters
This is what I would consider, one of the 4 movies of 2009, The three others are Up, Coraline, and 9. Some other things I like about this film is that Momma Dino is now my favorite T. rex mother I’ve seen, and she’s kinda cute, I wish we could see her and her babies again.
This will always be my favorite film in the franchise. Weird fact: Buck was my first fictional crush when I was a kid.

Missed opportunity for a reference to the 1st movie here (when Manny hands over the eggs to Sid to take back): “Okay, Sid, you gotta stop with adopting kids outside your species.” Or something along those lines.
I think despite what people say, Ice Age 4 and 5 are very entertaining. I think you’d enjoy them. You definitely should finish out the series.
The third is the most fun for me!

Rudy is an overgrown Baryonyx. In real life T-Rex was much bigger than a Baryonyx and it could also kill the Baryonyx with 1 bite of over 12,800 PSI. In real life T-Rexes were also bigger than Mammoths, but not as much as in this movie

When Disney bought Blue Sky studios they shut the studio down. A lot of people lost their jobs. The studio shared one last short of Scrat. I won’t spoil it. Just look it up on RUclips, it’s a bittersweet moment.
It feels that the dinosaur Rudy is based on a Spinosaurous. That's just me. Don't know any further..
And for me, my most favourite is Ice Age 3 itself.. the action was immaculate and amazing.

Those Dinosaurs in the valley that you called Velociraptors are Guanlongs. They are a relative of the T-Rex. And Diego, who is a Smilodon can't be called a Sabre-Tooth Tiger, because he is not Tiger. He can be called a Sabre-Tooth Cat, because the Smilodon's closest living relative is the Clouded Leopard, not a Tiger or anything
As someone who can find enjoyable parts in EVERY Ice Age movie... I implore you NOT to see The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (the one that came out recently). It was supposed to be a miniseries produced by Blue Sky, but after Disney bought Fox, they shut down Blue Sky and reworked the series into a stand-alone movie and had it animated by the studio that did Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Happily N'Ever After. The models look terrible, the animation is slow and jittery, the framerate drops out in some scenes, the plot is seriously lackluster, and the whole thing just feels rushed (which some say it was produced in just a few months, and it feels like it). Also, Simon Pegg is the ONLY voice actor to reprise his role. Everyone else is voiced by pale imitations. Not only that, but key characters from the series are not shown or even mentioned. Peaches, Julian, Louis, Shira, and Scrat are all MIA. Oh, and Disney gave up ownership of Scrat, so he's no longer a part of the franchise now.
Oh my goodness, I beg him to not see that one. I really do like five, but... they should have stopped there, this is called milking a movie. And I feel like they should have make a short about Crash and Eddie leaving, but how in the world was there a MOVIE on it?!

To be honest, the fact that the series overall got a lot less serious and grounded, moving more towards just comedy was kind of off-putting to me. The events of the first one are basically never referenced again and the fact that we have the three friends is really the only proof that it happened at all. That first one though, I'll always have a soft spot for.
