I recently discovered your channel, and I realise this is an old video so you might not see this comment, but I just wanted to thank you for making sewing accessible - I've been putting off trying to make clothes for so long, and after watching a few of your videos I can't wait to try (unfortunately my iron is somewhere unknown as I moved recently-ish).
You could use that leftover tier to make a cute ruffle on the bottom! Also a small ruffle on the sleeve hem!

I love the idea, but I think it would Look better if you didn’t split the bodice and the belt down the middle you could still color block it with different colors but just not the split contrast straight down the middle of the top

I thought you couldn't add a zipper because you didn't allow for the seam allowance that's why added buttons
zipper on the skirt portion and buttons on the bodice portion
