MLag if you search the youtube videos you will find one that covers making a DIY spot welder from an old motorcycle ignition coil and battery with insulated copper nails and a push to make switch. This is the best method by far for tagging lithium cells as it is highly predictable and avoids overheating them.
Why everyone thinks that Li-Ion will explode when you solder them?? Where did you get this miss-information from? Does no one understand that it's necessary to solder batteries, otherwise they are more or less useless! What are doing with a battery cell that you can't solder? Do you you really think you put them all in battery-holders, even if you put 1000 of them in a car?

Yes its true even though the lack of liquid chemicals in modern batteries reduces risks of damage and explosions due to boiling, you should be very fast at doing that anyway... And maybe just melt the wire a little before attaching it, for sure its wrong to leave a "pool" of molten metal in the battery`s surface.....
I hate all the negative comments of people saying stuff like, "I'm not rich like you I don't have a 3d printer." Ok well not all, but quite a few libraries have 3d printers that are available to the public for pretty cheap....

Pretty interesting. Only major issue as someone not that into electronics, but kind of a no brainer is, will this not over heat? No vents or a fan for cooling. Even I know that something that small needs some way of cooling off, especially if used for more than just a few minutes at a time.
Let me start by saying I think this was a cool project. Good job. I personally don't think you can't take an off the shelf SBC and use battery cells like that and ever hope to fit it in a normal "pocket". You'd have to create your own PCB and use a thin and flat battery. I'd love to see a project done like that. Keep working hard.

No heatsink?? That CPU is gonna throttle badly when running something demanding. Trust me, the thin aluminum shield on the Latte Panda isn't enough to cool an Atom Z8350 efficiently. So no wonder why people complain about its bad performance :p
@@metalphantom970 when not sufficiently cooled. yea. it usually throttles around 80°C, depending on the dptf configuration. Another reason to grab an Atomic Pi. It got a massive heatsink. but only has a 16GB EMMC.
yea I'm saying that because GTA Vice City and even San Andreas run a lot better on my Tablet and Intel Compute Stick which have the same processor. And knowing it does throttle when reaching higher temperatures.
@@NexXxus86 GTA San Andreas for pc was released many years ago and it's normal not being optimized like the version for mobile phones... Also, gta sa runs 30 fps max with this cpu at low and middle settings only so... I prefer to buy a normal tablet :p or just save up some money for a pc :)

Nice and ingeniously done. But, another $200 bucks and you have a Surface Go. Fairly compatible but the Go is much more sleek and capable. I do love the DIY stuff though. Great job!

If I'm being very generous with the shipping + duty fees, that's 350 bucks, the price of a microsoft surface go that's orders of magnitudes more powerful.
It’s perfect for those who need a potable Windows or Linux based touch screen solution. For instance, I would use one for recording to Reaper/ProTools and also control my interface (Midas 18 Channel) all in one sitting. The transfer of the project to another PC or Mac would be a breeze - compared to doing so on an iPad or Android tablet. Android and iOS are limited. I’m currently using an iPad to to control my interface and then using a MacBook/Laptop or my Mac Mini to record into. This little device would eliminate the bulkier recording solution and the need to find a efficient way to transfer my stems to my DAW (Logic Pro X or Reaper).
More like max 15fps prolly 3fps avrg drop frames crazy too although I've seen the same board without a case on it hooked up to a 1660 GPU and it ran games that are single core optimized like a champ some of them over 100 FPS it's a serious CPU bottleneck though basically a Celeron
That's a great little project but one thing I would change is making some kind of spring clip box or tray for the batts, then no soldering and easily removed if needed.

One care to be taken is to not overhead the 18650 batteries with soldering iron. It can cause huge damage to the batteries

Yes and casing for batteries is easy to obtain or just print. Then you can change dead ones for fresh.

Ozzelot I suggest a GPD Pocket. Great little thing. I wouldn't trust it with Windows, but luckily it works great with Linux preinstalled.
