If push comes to shove, these would be my absolute last line of food on the plate. Having said that, you raised some valid points re the timescales, long medium and short term. Another great video, thanks and keep them coming.
Cheers barry, they are not what I would choose to eat either by taste or contents.and nutrition...but..they are lazy zero maintance preps. That ,had a place imo. I could buy mylar bags, oxygen absorbers and bag a ton of rice for the same price. If the price stays at.91 quid as it is now, I'll try to buy one of these packs per month, few reasons. 1. If shtf I have a kit I could hand to extended family. 2.its not ideal but it's food you could add more of your preps too. Cheers buddy
Agree, at the price that you paid they are worth getting, but as well as the water issue, there is the fuel issue as that 20 minute simmer will use up quite a bit of fuel. The powder butter and cheese would be worth stocking, the rest of it, I would stick with my dehydrated stuff - soak in water, then heat up - it might not last the 25 years, but it should be good for 5 - 7 years and works out a lot cheaper. Saying that, I would love to get hold of some tinned freeze dried meats as I think that is where the main food issue is going to be I bet that your missus isn't very impressed when she gets up in the morning to a sink full of pans and bowls 🙂 Happy new Year to you and your viewers 🎆🎆
I cleaned the mess( ...ish..) before I went to bed. The tinned freeze dried meat is expensive as f#^#. I got a dehydrator in November for my birthday, it's not been out the box yet. I'll do a video when I get a chance. Happy new year when it comes bud
@@Scottishprepper73 Agreed, the meat is stupid money, but the protein is going to be the hardest stuff to get hold of if it does all go belly up. Once you get your dehydrator going, you will see just how easy if is to do stuff like onion, potato and other veg. When it is Mylared or vac sealed in a Mason jar, it is going to have quite a good shelf live and at a fraction of the cost of the freeze dried tins. Refection on my sad life, NYE and I'm here on yt 😞
We have been buying fuel your Preparation tins for a couple years just a couple every month or so good cheaper to give em a go . Great content Brian , happy new year.
Yeah their products are dear af here as well and we also don't seem to have anywhere near the variety of canned meats and meals that you guys have either. I have found some that are reasonably palatable so I have stocked up on them whenever I see them on special. Just found some 450g of canned ham on special at half price at one of our big Supermarkets so I have picked up a few more of them. Her indoors has been making a few soups recently with leftover chicken carcasses, roast chooks from the supermarket, or leftover leg of lamb bones along with whatever is in the fridge and in the garden at the time. They have tasted amazing, healthy and cost virtually nothing. Making do with whatever you have might end up being necessary in the future.
❤ always add cold water to pancake mixes and let sit for 5mins after stirring water through. Then pour cold mixture into hot pan. Hot water to a pancake mix will turn it into rubber because you've started the process of cooking in the bowl. Basically creating a dumpling.
You've given me ideas.❤ I'd keep the lid on throughout, to stop water evaporation and help the rice to keep absorbing water and keep the temperature up. But apart from that I'm brimming with ideas. Thank you.
You got it sorted👍 I’d love to stock some of the freeze dried stuff. But as you said, the price is too prohibitive sadly. Maybe one day 🤞 Great video mate. Thanks for reviewing the products
@ rip off Britain strikes once again mate. Out of curiosity, which store in the states did you get them? If you said, I must’ve missed it. One of my mates works for BA & I might ask if they can get some for me when they’re next over there.
Girdie girdie girdie 😂 reminds me of Catherine Tate interpreter sketch 😂. Must admit all looked very beige, think I would stick with Fray Bentos. Have a great New Year and hope you have 1 or 10 drams 🥃 😊
@IndigenousResistance192 it's for shtf and to forget about and stick in long term store,I could eat it ,if I had to but would add to it for meals tbh, for the price , it's worth getting but only at the price I got it from the US. Have a great new year matey
Agree mate, look in the comments one of the guys let me know about a deal on amazon. The 30 day kit is on special 95 quid delivered. I've just ordered one
Hi mate. Honestly cannot believe you have posted this now. 20 minutes ago I was just looking through Amazon and I saw a 30 day box of Augason farms freeze dried for £92. I have paid a hell of a lot more for other brands freeze dried so I thought it must be total dung but now I am seriously thinking of getting a box but still it seems very cheap for a 30 day supply for 1 person. Your thoughts ?
Hi mate, just saw it on amazon. 95 quid, yeah that's a decent price, in walart in the US it's comparable price so at 95 that's decent. I'm going to order a couple. Appreciate the heads up mate that's a.great find.
@@Scottishprepper73 I have just ordered 1. when I tried to order 2 there was an import tax of over 100 quid so if you are ordering more than 1 order on separate orders
