  • After a productive Saturday of completing hay, and planting the last field of soybeans... Mark found himself in the ER with what looks like a torn tendon in his ankle.
We're back in the sheep barn now, and first on. the management list is weaning lambs.
    It's a loud one, folks.

my late husband balanced me very well too. i've mellowed now but at 19 i had a fiery temper strong opinions and a fairly dominant personality. my hubby was calm cool and collected let me rant even encouraged me to vent to get it out while right there next to me supporting and loving me unconditionally flaws and all. we met in oct /84 he proposed at 4 wks i said no 5 wks i said heck we barely know each other and again at 6 wks and i said yes. we married 9 months after we met and the day after i turned 20. we had 25.5 wonderful years together raised 4 beautiful kids plus 2 for a friend for 3.5 yrs all while he battled brain injuries, grand mal seizures, panic attacks, 2 heart attacks and open heart surgery by 32. we stood strong thru it all and loved each other completely balancing each other every day. I lost him 9 days after he turned 47 needing a heart transplant they wouldn't approve. it took 4 heart attacks to kill a man supposed to be dead by 35 told he wouldn't survive a 2nd heart attack that was how strong his determination to stay with his family. our kids were 24, 22, 21 and 30 days from 19 when he died. he promised he would stay to see them all raised to over 18 and he kept his word. its been 13 yrs and i still miss him and have looked for another man who is even half what he was. even was engaged for 6 yrs but in the end there has been no one with his integrity, his commitment, loyalty, his love for me so i will likely remain single until we are reunited. i know i was extremely blessed to not only find my soul mate the person that was perfect fit for me but so young that we kind of finished growing up together maturing growing and changing as a team. neither of us went thru the lousy relationships, the bad break ups, the one night stands, the cheating, lying, crap that happens. we were more than lucky and i thank god for sending him all the time even though i had to lose him too young and way before we were ready. I am grateful for the happy years we did have. its more than most get. seems like sandi and mark have that same kind of relationship too they are very rare and when u find it u hold on to it with both hands.

I think Canada is pretty much the same. Anyway, I just love your videos, and I've learned so much from them. How can people not like Piper? She's just a pup that's learning. I love all of them, too! Prayers for Mark. ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

Hi Sandy, I was introduced to you Utube by my best friend.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos, I think you and your family are amazing.
I was watching this video today and when you said that some of your viewers are saying they hate Piper I was horrified.
It has nothing to do with them…..your farm, your dog, your life. You tell them to mind their own business.
I think you are doing a fabulous job and the dogs are all very cute, as are the sheepies……my favourite 💕
Anyway, keep up the great work and I will keep watching as I love your videos. 🌸🌺🌸🌺🐑🐑🐑🐑

When I was 6 or 7 my mom for some reason decided to try out my older brother's skateboard. She was the mother of five of us and my dad had abandoned ship. Of course, she broke her wrist. Then put us on a Greyhound with my youngest brother still in diapers and we went from California to Pennsylvania and eventually back again. My dad was a Greyhound driver at the time and if he saw fit to do so would get us free tickets. Can you imagine this woman with a barely a toddler and then one boy a bit younger then me and my older brother and sister. The three of us were responsible for particular bags/suitcases, etc. always. Which was one very organized way of traveling.. I always knew what I was responsible for. I can't believe she did this with a baby and us and that broken wrist.. Back in the early 60s they didn't have things like Pampers, etc. disposables weren't much better than paper napkins, although she used cloth diapers at home, she couldn't do that on a 72 hour bus trip.
My mom could have used an admonition to not break herself as well. BTW. When I was 14 she let me take that trip all by myself! Can you imagine? Last year before she got too sick to talk much we were talking about it and she said she couldn't believe that she let me do that! One of my seat mates on the ride told me she was a high school English teacher asked me what year I was in in college. I had to tell her I was about to start the 10th grade! To this day, I'm now 68, that still cracks me up.😁

Piper isn't bred to be a sheepdog, so she may not get to where Kinsey is. She's a sweet little dog, but she does tend to slow things down and put herself in danger occasionally.

I never understand when people expect dogs to somehow become trained without ever making mistakes or practicing what they’re trying to learn! I do sometimes worry about little Piper getting hurt as she is often fearless when a little fear or at least caution would serve her better. People *should* understand that Piper is still a puppy & thus often gets excited when allowed to “help”. Sandi has said many times over that she is not a dog trainer & also doesnt expect perfection from her 3 furry companions. Piper is actually really smart & is making rapid progress in learning how to move the sheep. In another year or 2 once she is full grown & that puppy tendency to easily become overly excited passes I think she will rapidly catch up to Kinsey!

I often gasp when I see the danger she puts herself in, her growth plates don’t close until 13-18 months of age, any damage to the growth plates can mean major surgery and a dog living a life of constant pain. I have never said anything but obviously a lot of people have. Rain hail or shine I’ll always switch on a watch and hit the like button because I l❤ve Sandi and her flock of misfits.

A flashback from a previous video of yours came into my head where you said to a momma that was lambing “can’t stop won’t stop”. To me, that’s you and your family. Your resilience as a family unit is remarkable. Y’all are some of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen. I know it sucks right now, not knowing how things will play out with Mark and seeing him not well…but no doubt y’all will get through this together. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery ❤️‍🩹 sending all the positive vibes from Louisiana ⚜️
Edited to add: I love your dogs! They are fun to watch, with their difficult personalities. I love seeing them following you in the morning and running around the barn. Sure, they get in the way sometimes but like you said, they aren’t sheep dogs. It’s also been cool to watch them grow up on camera.
Now this comment is getting too long but whatever. I’m a person who’s very hard on myself and so are you. I know I’m just an internet stranger and someone who knows nothing about farmning but… I wanted to mention that I somewhat recently found your channel and binge watch your videos when I’m not feeling well and have gone way back through the years. I’m not at all a farmer, my bonus boy (step son) bales hay with his PawPaw (that’s his family business, also had cattle) and my daughter is a barrel racer, we own a horse, so, I’m not at all in the know about anything y’all do. I can relate to how important hay is though!! I’ve been so impressed about how much you’ve grown over the years. How much you learn from each lambing. I find myself watching lambing from a few years back and wanting to yell “take its temp!!” But I know that future Sandi will be geared up with a thermometer in her coveralls soon enough! You’re an inspiration to women, to young women, I hope you know that. Please don’t stop being yourself. Please don’t stop showing the bad days and the good. If you read all of this, I appreciate it. Sorry, I get wordy! I don’t think I’ve ever commented before, clearly I should in little bits instead of saving it all for a novel of a comment! 😬

WHAT!?!? Haters better lay off little Piper! 💪 She has Fans who LOVE 💕 her and adore her little fur butt! She is just a puppy that is learning her place🤗. She cant watch RUclips for tips, shes on RUclips showing us she is learning. I can say she is doing much better that she was a year ago, can't you? 😉 Sandi ALL the fur babies are Wonderful!
Don't worry folk aren't to fond about me having a pitbull for a dog but she goes everywhere with me. It's those little eyes and the looks that can melt my heart.

Many, many professionals & workers are choosing to retire early because of the unrelenting stresses they've been trying to work under. 🙏prayers for them & us.(And it's summertime now, so people shortstaffed by vacations) I was impressed by how quickly Jess was diagnosed & treated 💕💕

I am so sorry that Mark injured his ankle. I am sending healing thoughts to both of you because when one of you gets hurt, both of you both get stressed. The stress from having so much to do and being unable to get out and get things done in rough.
I don't think anyone really hates Piper. She is only a puppy. After all is said and done, I think that most of us worry that she may be injured because she thinks that she is bigger than she is. More than once, she has gotten head butted by a protective momma sheep. The rams really go after her when they are in with ewes. I just don't want to see her injured. She doesn't seem to get that when momma ewe stomps her feet. She needs to leave before she gets kicked or head butted.

To all that "sprain" a joint try to remember it is a tear in the facial tissues (ligaments, joint capsules, muscle connections, etc.). Because these are rips of the tissues and there is no blood vessel connections, the fluids that are released into the tissues carry the nutrients. There is no direct blood supply like the bones have. A bone break heals in about 6 weeks. A facial tear can take up to 18 months. Nutrients are delivered through the lymphatic system. Movement is key. At first movements with reduced weight bearing. The exercises that physical therapy teach really help.
I do hope a full and short recovery. I do feel badly for Mark (and any one who has such damage).

When you're used to being on the go constantly it's incredibly frustrating to find yourself with limited movement. Thank God I love to read or I would go absolutely nuts. It was awesome to see a video drop from you today, a great birthday present as I'm about to turn 50 tomorrow! Also love how you've been including more of what's happening in other areas of the farm, it's extremely interesting and it amazes me just how much is entailed in successfully running a farm.
