The entire Aqualung album is a timeless classic. Ian has always led his band of musical merry-men to new heights of brilliance. May Jethro Tull continue for years to come.

    Look.
I was 30 feet from him and the speakers.
He hit every single note and yes with less sustain but in key and no mistakes AND he controlled the echoes at the same time whilst he performed some kind of Keltic style moves. I’ve waited more than 50 years to see Ian’s band but, we’ll, life and working and kids and women and stuff.
One day I realized I had been the Locomotive train .
I was it & it was me NO STOPPING IT.
    maybe you too
    in someway.
It was a tuff trek getting to the show.
    2.5 tanks of gazaline
A place to stay, our little dog had to be taken care of. Our 6 cats had to have lots of food water and love too.
    Made arrangements and waited.
We were not let down. Ian and the band were superb.
    I’m a musician too.
All my life but I couldn’t do that performance at my age now, maybe 30 years ago.
I’m back home now. 4 days of travel and all that road food stuff.
To be blunt, was it worth it?
Did I see parts of the show on my computer?…ye s s s.
    I’m spent.
    SHE’S wiped out 2.
    And at work today.
But we talked it over and…
Yes, it was SOOoo worth it!
An incredible performance by Ian and the incredible band.
    Spot on.
Oh, Ian Anderson has become a bit of a business man. And why not?
    He better have by now.
    Also, a bit fatherly.
Lots of verbal directions and most of all, absolutely devoted to the music and
Me, and all of us in the audience… and ME
    HELL YES there were tears.
AND DAMN if there was some SNOT 2.
    But I waited some 50 years and…
    Well…
    It showed up!
    Right on time…
All my love brothers and sisters.
    Peace be with you.
    MrJess

Not haters, just know when someone is done. Neil Peart of Rush knew when to call it quits in 2013 when he was finding it harder and harder to play at his level. His attitude was if he couldn't play at his level, he won't do it at all. Geddy Lee, the singer should have done that back in the early 2000s. He could not sing his songs anymore, and it was embarrassing to watch. This also was embarrassing to watch. There comes a time when, like it or not, it's time to retire.

Ian damaged his voice long ago and really began to lose the husky singing voice he used in the glorious 70’s Stand Up, Aqualung, TAAB, SFTW, HH, Stormwatch and ok even Broadsword in ‘82.. Though it is all hindsight, To my mind Ian made several major mistakes. #1- firing arguably the best lineup the band ever had who produced all the best albums- Martin Barre, Barry Barlow, John Evans, David ( now Dee) Palmer and the deceased John Glascock. Almost any fan of Tull will agree that their best work was in the 70’s. # 2- After firing that band becoming enthralled with Eddie Dobson and
all the electronic bunk-including drum machines and the like… In fact when manager Terry Ellis heard Under Wraps he was outraged and he and Ian had a falling out, because Ellis knew the band was going in the wrong direction. #3- trying to persist singing when his voice was clearly shot. He still sounded ok into the new millennium but it has been downhill ever since. # 4- Sending Martin packing ( who ironically has his own band which sounds better than the current Tull! ) Now with all of my opinions sounding negative I have to say I always thought and still do that Ian is a genius and can still write and play his flute- even the current Zealot Gene isn’t bad- until he struggles to sing. I would love a collection of instrumental numbers he is capable of composing. There is a great book in which the author talked to many many people in and around the band including Barre and Barlow and the main gist of the book is- Jethro Tull broke up in 1980 and a paler imitation has been carrying on since- think about it…… at every show what do the fans want to hear the most? Right you are almost exclusively the pieces from the 70’s. And I do admire Ian’s drive to create - that’s what made the band such a success. Again all my opinions.

Actually Ian Anderson doesnt really care of the Hall of Fame, thinking he doesnt need to be there... He said in an interview that the RocknRoll Hall of Fame should be honouring Rock like real American Rock, American-inspired music. Talking about Elvis, Chuck Berry... But he knows that alot of musicians from outside of the US became musicians because of the Americana culture. So he respect the Hall of Fame. But as a British Rock Band who doesnt have the sound of American music, but a more folkloric and European sound, he things hes better out. And the boss on the board of Hall of Fame doesnt really like Jethro Tull anyway. So Ian Anderson is cool.

Although the band has changed members, their performance is spot-on, even at a more leisurely pace. The guitarist truly rips excellently. Few musicians ever reach his level of accomplishments🏆😎.

@@PatThaiBangSaray Sorry, yes. You are absolutely right. I've seen Tull many times in the last 40 years....and aside from retiring, the best decision Ian has made in the late stage of his career was to have Ryan O'Donnell on the TAAB 1 and 2 tour. That was brilliantly executed. The kid could sing and with his stage training was able to inhabit the 'character' of a young Ian...especially employing a flute-like stick during his performance. And Ian sang several parts at the time as well.
A brilliantly executed idea and performance.
This, on the other hand, is just sad. I would have thought that Ian, of all people, would have the integrity to quit before he sounded like shit vocally. I guess not.
This is just so sad. I saw Genesis on their last tour in November 2021...Phil was not at his best but was impressive enough. And he is stopping now.
      Ian. Stop.

It's interesting to the differences between Ian Anderson's group and Martin Barre's. It's like two sides of the same coin. Anderson is somewhat forced to have a far more folk based sound due to his voice depreciation. Whereas Barre's band leaned into the hard rock sound because they don't have a flautist. I prefer watching Barre perform but I'm glad that Ian still has the drive to get out and do shows.

He did shows with a singer some time ago. You know he survived thrombosis years ago and that he has lungs issues which probably hamper his singing. He is still this great flutist and acoustic guitar player., but no longer the great original singer he used to be with his unique variations. Sad that when he dissolved Tull he split with the great Martin Barre, who ironically is touring currently with his band for the ´ 50 years Aqualung anniversary ‘ … Martin is such a great guitarist and person.

Saw them for the first time in 1977, and I still give everything from This Was to Dot Com a spin, but I've not the time of day for anything he's done since. I track bounced through that Zealot Gene thing. Nothing JT about it any way at all. It's not just the totally disintegrated vocals; it's also the over pronunciation of every word in the lyrics. It's got to the point where it sounds like Prince Charles trying to sing. For me, Jethro Tull ended at Dot Com. He's still a top musician, but that's not enough. Putting such a name as Jethro Tull on that album was a great legacy killer.

Ian lost his voice decades ago- it has been painful watching him try to sing for a long time. ( it just keeps getting worse) Tull always one of my favourite bands especially in the 70’s. His two greatest mistakes- firing the best lineup JT ever had- Barre, Barlow, Palmer, Evans, poor Glascock died. This was the band that produced SFTW, HH, and Stormwatch. Second mistake- trying to keep singing- he can still write and play the flute but the attempt at singing should stop.

He used a minstrel singer in the Homo Eraticus concert that sounded great. Ian limited his singing a bit and that concert was great. Still 100% on flute. Rearranging a song to fit the voice isn’t a great idea. This rendition of Tull sounds watered down. But every bit entertaining.
