- DJ Jer reviews the Chauvet DJ Follow Spot LED 57ST. LED Follow spot is bright and great focus with DMX and on board options. great fixture stages, introductions, fashion shows, or anything thing you would use a follow spot for.
Thanks for the report. Obviously the case has no heat. Thanks a bunch
Great Video. I use one of these as the spotlight operator for my school. I was wondering what the second lever on the side did.
Do you have a video, showing us how to replace the lamp??
altman comet was a good follow spot. all bulb fixtures are more intense than LED fixtures. some are bust, some are good. You will never know until years later when someone writes a review. If it works for you great, compared to old stuff I don't think it cuts the mustard.
On the stand is it tall enough to not blind the performer in the show ?
For the same operation, say a grand entrance, would you prefer the follow spot or the intimidators? I know they both have plusses depending on a given situation.
+darrin plank If you are looking at doing a grand entrance and you want the light to follow them the entire time then the moving spot is a great option. Disclaimer: make sure you have two people. One to perform and the other to run the moving spot.
If you have great programming skills and are just spot lighting the entrance door then the intimidators would be a great option.
Thanks for the questions.
Anybody know how to change the bulb on this
what number would you use for warm white color gel? Also how do you get other gobos?
We typically use a color gel called "Harvest Wheat" or find a CTO filter to warm the cool white LED.
DJ Jer, It sounded LOUD in the video. I teach children's theatre and we need a new spot light. But I am concerned with how loud it seemed to be when running. I've read several reviews that have this same complaint. How loud is it actually?
A recording will typically amplify fan noise. For theater where it really matters I would say go check out a couple options in person to see if it will work for you. Thanks for the feedback.
Do you know how spotlights are actually used?
Please ask your question again.
throw distance?
Jared C I would recommend a throw distances of about 100 feet
For an $800 fixture it looks fisher price. Compared to the old style follow spot using bulbs that get hot, throw distance 300ft. Would you say that is the maximum throw distance of the follow spot?
Jared C great question. So this is the 75w led which is the old fixture. This video is a couple years old but if you want to shoot 300 ft. I would recommend the follow spot led 120. It also depends on your iris as you get further away it isn't so much about the battle of brightness but your beam angle gets bigger the further away you are. Does that help?
You didn't mention anythi g about gobo
Dj kelly follow spots aren't made for gobos. Could you make it work? I suppose but it isn't ideal and probably won't work the way a gobo should work. You would want to use an ellipsoidal to do gobo projections
djjermusic thanks for a swift reply. Please can you tell me witch version of the ellipsoidal I should buy that's as bright as the followspot
So this video is for the follow spot 75. Which means it is a 75w led. They now make a follow spot 120 which is 120w led. But back to your question. If you want an LED ellipsoidal that is brighter then the spot light in this review check out the eve 100z. We have 6 of them and love them. Otherwise another great option is the eve 50z which side by side it's hard to tell the difference in intensity. Both great options
djjermusic thanks again your a true professional
