  • We continue venturing through Bad Ischl. Noelia shows us the school in town. We then come to a square where there is a statue - Wirerdenkmal. We then head towards what looked like a huge museum, but turns out it was a movie theater/bowling alley. They had just planted new flowers along the walkway which were beautiful.
We were a little hungry before we started touring Bad Ischl, but we were getting hungrier. Noelia took us to Café-Restaurant Zauner where they have incredible chocolate cake and other pastries. The food and the dessert were both delicious.
After grabbing food, the next plan was to get back in the van and head to the postcard-famous Hallstatt. Bad Ischl was absolutely gorgeous and Hallstatt sitting right next to a lake was going to be another picture-perfect destination. The drive was about 30 minutes due south. And of course, the drive there was going to be memorable.
The last 10 minutes of the drive were all next to Lake Hallstatt. We also went through a long tunnel. It is one way in and one way out of that location. In Hallstatt, they have another venicular (cable car on a massive incline). When I looked at this one the internet they said the height is over sky-scrapers, so I passed on that idea. However, if I wasn’t terrified of heights, they had a very cool salt-mine at the top that we could have explored. Of course Angelina gave me a hard time once we got to Hallstatt, lol.
Once we get down to the walkway by the water, we started seeing quite a few people walking around and touring the town. As was explained by Noelia, Hallstatt’s main commodity was Salt. It made the area very rich.
One of the houses along the walkway, which was also a brewery, had a fire. Noelia knows the person. Along the walkway, you could see beautiful white swans in the water. Seriously…..something out of a postcard or beautiful painting.
