  • The minor prophets with major messages series continues, this time with Jonah. Jonah’s story is relatively short in Scripture, but it has a major message strewn throughout. We learn we need to be merciful even as our Father is merciful. But how do you get that message from a man being swallowed by a whale? Check it out to find out.

    Excellent teaching. I had no idea just how wicked Nineveh was. I could never understand why Jonah ran from his assignment but do now. Our God is such an awesome loving merciful God, as is our Redeemer. Only by their Spirit in us can we ever begin to hope to follow in their path of love of our enemies.

    Was this teaching about Jonah or discrediting the book of Jubilee's again? The sojourner or the gentiles have always been able to convert even in the writings of the old testament.

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 5 месяцев назад +1

      Correct, throughout Scripture, God calls on Gentiles to repent, worship him, and keep his Sabbaths. Jubilees does not say any of that; instead, Jubilees says that God literally created spirits to rule over and lead Gentiles AWAY from following him, and Jubilees prohibits Gentiles from keeping the Sabbath. The Old Testament's acceptance of Gentiles who repent (like we see in Jonah) is exactly why we should reject Jubilees as unbiblical.

      While the Ninevites repented, they did not convert. Read Matt. 12:41. God's message for the city was to repent, not be converted.

    Nice explanation for the book of Jonah, but I am not sure if brother David Wilber is aware of the following video that actually proves that the book of Jubilees passes the Deuteronomy 13 test and the claims presented by brother David against the book of Jubilees are not so accurate to say the least.
    Here is the proof: The video title is Is Jubilees Scripture? Answering David Wilber on Kingdom in context channel.

      FWIW, I responded to Sean's errors in that video on my personal channel. The video is titled, "Sean Griffin is Wrong About the Book of Jubilees." Blessings!

      Shabbat Shalom,
      I just watched the video you mentioned where I was expecting to hear a response as to why the book of Jubilees is not inspired but unfortunately all what I found was a personal attack against another brother in the Messiah who defends the Torah and nothing about the content of the book of Jubilees itself.
      In minute 1:23 you said and I quote “Sean considers Jubilees to be a higher revelation than the Torah itself.” I listened to his 3 hours video and he didn’t say so. It is very clear you are putting words into his mouth. The fact that he said and I quote “It’s literally the only book that claims that... Genesis through Deuteronomy doesn’t claim that.” Does not by any means equate to him considering Jubilee as a higher revelation than the Torah itself. That’s what you like to think not what he considers as those words didn’t come out of his mouth and the video is out there for everyone to watch and listen to.
      In the minute 18:00 you say and I quote “So Sean, what exactly are you getting at here?” I cannot speak for Sean, he can do this himself, however I can say what I believe what he is getting at here. Sean’s whole point throughout his whole series of the ‘non-canonical books’ is WHO GETS TO DEFINE WHAT THE CANON IS? BY WHAT STANDARD SHOULD ANYONE JUDGE IF ANY BOOK IS INSPIRED OR NOT?
      In the minute 20:19 you cut Sean’s full response to your claim where he fully explains the context about not eating with gentiles in Jubilees but it seems for a reason only you know, you decided not to include the rest of his response to your claim in your video.
      In the minute 26:20 you said I quote “they could have brought food and water with them but they chose not to.” Really? So you think Moses and Yeshua could have brought food and water with them that would be enough for 40 days? Do you really believe what you just said? Who do you think you are fooling?
      Your last section in your video titled “A personal message to Sean’s follower is a flat out lie because he didn’t even utter any of the things you falsely accused him to.”
      I came to Torah through 119 ministries and their motto ‘Test everything’ has always been very important to me. Sean doesn’t have that motto yet he does apply it himself in questioning everything specially the so called ‘Early church fathers’ and emperor Constantine in defining for us what is a canon and what is not, unlike you David who even though you are 1 of the 119 ministries team yet you follow what those church fathers handed down to us without questioning or testing as the ministry you help with does encourage its listeners.
      I don’t know Sean personally nor do I know you personally but from checking both of your videos, it is crystal clear to me now who is really defending the Torah and walking in love while testing everything including the standard by which we can tell what is inspired and what is not and who is ignoring all of this and is just personally attacking a brother in the Messiah and not even willing to test anything including the Canonicity of the Scripture and what standard was used to determine what the canon is if any was used.

    You spent 15 minutes christanizing the book of Jonah. Did you once even consider the fact that there was no sacrifice required by God for God to show mercy and or forgive Ninevah? No animal, no human and no blood. Ninevah simply repented and turned from evil.
    We are never told in Tanakh to love our enemies but we are told to love our brother, our nieghbor and the sojourners but never our enemies. We are to show mercy by giving food and water to them so that YHWH will reward:
    Pro 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink;
    Pro 25:22 For thou wilt heap coals of fire upon his head, and YHWH will reward thee.

    Psa 59:5 (59:6) Thou therefore, O YHWH God of hosts, the God of Israel, arouse Thyself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to any iniquitous traitors. Selah

      The command to love one's neighbor extends to one's enemies as well genius. The command is meant to express the obligation of showing true love towards all human beings, not just our relatives, friends, or even the ppl we may agree with. The whole reason why God sent the storm and the fish to swallow Jonah is because he failed to love the Ninevites enough to warn them.

      @@theeternalsbeliever1779 Sorry there goober, nowhere in Jonah does God require, ask or imply that he should love the people of Ninevah. Only to obey what God commanded. God clearly asked Jonah to proclaim against the city and to warn them of destruction. Jonah believed that God was going to just that and became angry because God did not destroy the people. Jonah obeyed Gods commandment to preach not love.
      Jon 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he proclaimed, and said: 'Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.'
      My enemy is not my neighbor. If you could understand the difference you would then see some real truth. We are commanded to love our neighbor but that does not prevent us from showing compasion to our enemies because there is reward if we do so. Amazing that I have to explain so much to christians.
