  • Throughout religious history make-up and jewelry have been taboo to many. There are many reasons given for this ranging from it being something only pagans do to something strictly forbidden by YHWH. We want to test these ideas to Scripture and see what we come up with.

I'm sda, we don't teach that makeup and Jewelry are sinful. We teach that the bible teaches modesty because these things can lead to pride and idolatry. Thus, the apostle say not to adorn yourselves in them, because they can war against the soul. How many of us feel complete by ourselves without Jewelry? Do you feel like you are missing something when youre not wearing your jewelry? Did Adam and Eve wear Jewelry? Were they complete without them? Not because these gentle men say it's ok means it's OK. There are two types of jewelry in the Bible functional and non- functional. If you decide to wear non-functional Jewelry, be honest to God and ask yourself why? Functional jewelry is used in legal and royal affairs. And so jewelry and makeup in and of themself is not evil. It all comes back to the intent of your heart. Just be honest with God. Why do you want to wear Jewelry and makeup? This young man didn't present all the context because he used royal and legal jewelry to prove that you can wear jewelry. The study is not complete because it didn't state the other side clearly and fairly. Esther, the prodigal and high priest is a poor example to used because these were all functional jewelries, nor vain like the rapppers and people who want to appear attractive or circumstantial like the exit from Egypt.

@@truthreveal I can tell that you're SDA, by the manner that you are addressing me - always needing to be right(having the truth). I don't feel incomplete without jewelry & it does not make me feel pride. I wear jewelry when I want to dress for something special. There's no need for you to reply, you've said all you need to say to me. I know an SDA woman who bought a watch for over $500 she liked the large gold bracelet that the time piece was set in - her husband said that the time piece has not been working for years, she wears it to church because the church members would not say anything because it has a watch in it, now that is funny!

In Ezekiel 28:13-17 God is describing Satan. He was beautiful and greatly adorned in jewels and became full of pride and sin. Though jewelry is not sinful we should caution not to come lifted up because of it. Do not become like the rich young ruler.

I think it was the first book, if I remember correctly. Even though it is not included in the modern bibles, the people of the times clearly had read and knew the book of Enoch because there are references to it, such as in Jude and Jesus, Himself quoted Enoch. Considering this, I would think it something to be respected like any of the other scriptures.

    • @mshazard4931
      @mshazard4931 5 месяцев назад +2

I believe that the book of Enoch is a different context.
The book of Enoch is referring to the fallen angels teaching the art of cosmetics and potions to MAN.
They taught men how to deceive others and look like woman.
This use of cosmetics and such taught by the fallen angels was a direct violation of YHWH’s laws.
It wasn’t the actual cosmetics that were the problem. It was the use and intent behind it. Men were using them to look like women, to try to get other men to lust for them.
Nothing new under the sun. You would be surprised how well some men can do that today.
Some look totally like a woman. Especially with the help of surgeries and such.
Men using cosmetics for the purpose of deceiving others into believing they are a woman is the violation of Torah.
Women wearing cosmetics is not a violation of Torah. Women are told not to look like a man. Man is not to look like a woman.
Fallen Angels taught man all of our technology, weapons, drugs, pharmekia, etc. Using those things is not a sin. Unless the purpose of their use is a sin.
If I use medication for my infection, that is not a sin.
If I use drugs to poison poison someone, that IS a sin.
      Intent is the key.

This teaching does a great job for clothing and jewelry… but it is not too strong on makeup. There is a lot inferred and read into the text. Esther was making herself beautiful for a gentile/pagan king - she was in Persia. This one is still questionable in my opinion.

I would humbly ask that you be a bit more mindful of the visuals you include as they were a bit of a stumbling block to me. I don’t think they promote greater understanding. In fact, they may be more likely to make men stumble and women feel more insecure and the need to wear makeup. Thank you for considering.

I am really sorrowed on how modern day Christians take away from the true beauty of Yahu'ah which comes through His Son Yahusha Ha'Mashyach...
They twist scriptures to justify vanity of this world and to justify themselves living in sin.
A wife's beauty only comes from the Spirit of Yahu'ah, if a woman does not carry His Ruach which Yahusha sends there is no beauty in her...
All makeup comes from the fallen angels and it is in vanity a woman wears it displaying being ungrateful to Yahu'ah on how she is created.
If a woman needs to put on makeup to beautify herself for her husband then he is a worthless man who loves vanity more than the woman created for him.
A man of Yahu'ah will always be lifted up by the Ruach of His wife and behold her beauty as glorious if she is walking according to Yahu'ah ways.
Keeping yourself washed, healthy, covered and obediant is what Yahu'ah requires to have beauty, not makeup and jewelry which is according to Torah a harlot and or a woman portraying herself to be a harlot....

Interesting teaching. It doesn't seem to be in sync with what Paul and Peter teach about outward adorning. If a person said, Come over to our house, but don't be concerned with wearing shoes. You would be thinking it's not necessary to wear shoes. Likewise, when Peter says don't be concerned with the outward adorning... one would be lead to think its not necessary for a Godly woman to wear and worry about such things.
Proverbs 31: talks about a virtuous woman and speaks little of her outward appearance but rather her actions (works). Why would a husband want his wife to put on make-up "to look beautiful"? Is she not beautiful without makeup? Make yourself beautiful: in your heart, that it cannot be corruptible, have a meek and quit spirit, in the sight of Yah is a great price! We are told that the holy women of old adorned themselves by believing in Yah and being in Subjection to their own husbands: even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. (Don't be concerned!)

hadassah/Ester was impressing a pagan king so her behavior was that of the pagan culture. so using that to prove your point that it is biblically endorsed fails, under that thinking polygamy is also endorsed.
the reason vashti was called the most beautiful was likely not because there weren't other more beautiful women but she was likely the most beautiful of the kings women
you are using the argumentative tactic of "conjoining" you are attempting to link the wearing of jewelry and cosmetics as being equal where as the scriptures you sighted clearly demonstrate these two to be separate
I would agree that scripture allows fine clothing' jewellery and nice shoes are permissible but you have shown that cosmetics are only worn biblically by harlots
she adorns herself as a prostitute in other parts of scripture isreal is adorned as a prostitute with make up she is not adorned with make up at any other time than when she is a prostitute
you mentioned a woman might to these things to feel pretty,if a woman must adorn her outside to feel pretty on the inside there is a high probability of spiritual problems 1peter 3:1/2 1 timothy 2:10/11
i would agree it is possibly permissible for a woman to wear cosmetics if her husband desires her to but i think it is ill-advised
i feel that biblical support for your position is lacking
a 5 year old girl is being trained to enjoy the attention that it creates from her outer appearance this is not good training her parents that are allowing her to do that have an understanding of what the makeup is really for the child does not have you seen the kind of behavior that is endorsed at child beauty pageants????

Sorry 119Ministries, this is another teaching I will not agree with. Under very few circumstances, do I believe women using makeup and adornments are acceptable. In our world today, women wear these things only for one purpose. They want attention and wish for men to lust after them. Yeshua told us clearly, that it is not just the action of adultery that is adultery, is also the desire in our own minds/heart. Women taking these actions are leading others to SIN. Didn't Paul remind us NOT to be a stumbling block to our brothers? Would that not extend to sisters?!
Make up serves no purpose other then to make a women look better then they really are, and it covers up "imperfections" to make a woman look younger or without blemishes.
Being MODEST would mean NOT painting yourself up, and dressing in provacative ways. While I generally enjoy the teachings, this seemed to be a "modern church" - esq way of excusing sinful behavior. That's not ok, and it's not given in a spirit of love, when you excuse sinful behavior. I do not accept the adversary or his sinful ways. Yaweh and Yeshua are my guides, not the doctrines of man, or the excuses of "teachers" - excusing man's traditions.

it is good that you have expressed what you think. this is acceptable and even encouraged. I don't support your argument but I respect that you expressed yourself, this should happen to all Christians, searching scriptures for the truth.
This is not an opportunity to scorn or point out how wrong someone is, but we need to reason together for *NO-ONE* has all the answer except our Father in heaven.

    • @jamesw.3491
      @jamesw.3491 6 месяцев назад +7

Makeup is not a part of dressing up nice/finely. All of you who disagree, you are free to do so. It doesn't change the fact that makeup, especially as we know it today, is specifically made to sexualize a woman. There is no denying that a woman who sexualizes herself is doing so in a sinful manner. It's used as a means to attract men and the attention of other men. What purpose does it serve for a woman to be covered in makeup to go grocery shopping, at the school function, or in worship, to be covered in makeup? It's to attract male attention,
You all can be "modern" church apologists all you want. God does not change, and God does not bend to the whims of his creation. Man's traditions mean nothing to the Father, It's obvious that some people are just blind followers, and not a thinking and understanding group. All these excuses apologizing for sinful behavior, lead to destruction.
This is why I have no desire to be a modern day teacher. In order to do so, you have to give in to the whims of the people, rather than just teaching and telling the truth. Man has despised truth since the beginning. It's part of our own sinful and selfish nature.

I’m a Christian woman and I can’t bring myself to wear makeup. I remember women who dressed like a prostitute and wore makeup, were referred to as a “jezebel”. And rightly so if you look up the story. She wasn’t someone a Christian woman should want to emulate. And then, look at history, even the old west days. Women who wore makeup worked in the saloons and dressed immodesty. Respectable, hard working women dressed and looked very different. They were feminine but in a Godly way. My coworker is a woman in her 30s and she wears tight leggings every day and her shirt is open so far you can see her bra. Some men have made sick comments to her and she complained about it. Ladies, if you don’t want the wrong kind of attention, don’t advertise for it. When I am able to wear dresses, men hold the door open for me and show me respect. That is the only kind of attention I need.
