Another great interview, Daniel. I was the frontman in Days Difference, so it was hilarious hearing Evan mention his song “Down with Me” and how incredulous he was that they kept his superior British accent on the track when we did the vocals. Total trip.
This guy is my new idol. I'm trying to be an apprentice for him. Hire me Evan. I'll write songs for you all day! Or whatever you need. Teach me the way!!!! 💪
daniel never misses. Nobody i’d rather watch interview someone in the music industry. Also, Evan Having writing credits on, “ classic”, “ halo”, and “ tonight tonight “ is quite the flex. fantastic interview
An absolutely great interview, Eminem story i came for but got so much more!!! Daniel does a great job letting him talk but you can tell how intrigued to listen as well 👏
One of the most refreshing conversations I’ve ever seen and you could tell how happy he was to get a chance to share his stories - looking forward to watching your other interviews!
I knew Evan was integral to the Eminem signing, but really cool to hear the history around the Pac album. I think a feature of every Bogart is pockets full of insane stories & the ability to tell them in an entertaining way…. and tenacity! 🤯
Listening to Evan takes me down memory lane. Whenever he mentions a song, i immediately think back to the first time i heard the song and how life was like for me in that time period. Amazing😊
I’ve heard Evan’s interviews w big songwriters and they’re good but since they’re friends and know everything about other there’s a lot u don’t get. Him retelling stories to a young person on the outside, learned way more
Saw a few seconds from this interview on Instagram and decided to check out the entire video here, which is something that I never do. I am amazed about Evan's journey and how many artists that I love he was in contact with. It was a pleasure to hear his stories!
really fun interview - the “narrative” point is super important i feel like. as much as being good at the thing matters, being able to convince people you’re good at the thing matters too, which can be a real challenge. thanks, daniel!
I don’t usually comment, but this is one of the best interviews about the music industry I’ve seen in a long time. It’s not boastful, just two music lovers sharing gems and telling great stories!
My jaw has been on the floor the entire time! These stories are insane!! I'm still stuck on the genius of the second verse of SOS. The fact that Evan had a hand in "Blackout" just shows how much of a talent this guy is!
I like that he will go down a rabbit hole when initially being asked a question but he somehow always answers the original question in the end. Great interview all around
I have so many songs I’ve written that I want to shop to artists, I’ve yet to figure out how to properly do it without being jerked. The gems this man is dropping are priceless!
… he’s Jewish buddy.. I didn’t even have to know before I looked it up, just listen to how he talks about how he really didn’t ever write and then boom he writes some of greatest hits? Dad was on top in 70s? Lol they don’t even hide it
The whole Eminem in the Korn video, just sent me! This dude is a legend and I love his story and he is so authentic and humble. Thank you for this interview and sharing such a cool background story to what I lived and loved!!❤
im barely an hour in and his whole story is very fascinating, i came from tiktok after seeing the sos video and i was not expecting to learn about this mans very deep history into some of my favorite pop/rap singers
I didn't know him before this interview, but man, it was so interesting! Thank you so much for introducing us to such inspirational people! Could've listened to him for 2 more hours
"I spell you're wrong in the pre-chorus, no one cares"😂😂 I always assume the lyrics was "Y O U are...", the fact you meant it to be "Y O U R..." is so funny to me, so relatable. The 80s songs titles is so crazy too, I remember listening SOS on repeat as a kid never had a clue. Thanks for this video, this channel is becoming one of my favorite and making me appreciate music so much more
SOS is such a classic, it’s so awesome to hear all the little pieces we missed years ago. Thanks so much for the love, Julia! I'm really excited that this interview with Evan is helping people see the magic behind the music! Appreciate you being part of the journey and here's to many more!!!
Admittedly, my brain always flipped it around when trying to make sense of it and I heard “why are you making it this hard” until just now when I read the lyrics
He feels like such a dad grandpa energy with crazy stories of the Wild West good ol’, build up from the bottom lose it all and crash and epic come back 🔥 healing nostalgia vibes
So great to hear these stories. Daniel, awesome work man, well done on getting this going. Evan, thank you for sharing some of your life stories. Always amazing to see how things evolve while we're working on things. Keep the passion for the music industry alive and we need to make the music business solid again for artists. Best, DC 👍🥁👍
This was the greatest and inspiring story for me to hear. I have a lot of music that’s out and I’ve been trying to be in the spotlight and Evan just showed me that I could ball out the same way with writing and selling my songs. I never believe that I could, not be in the spotlight but this just showed me right here. I may have been chasing my wrong path in success. Thank you for this interview so much.
Hey Daniel. I discovered your channel the last ep. Watched the whole interview. Now watching this one. Please keep em coming. You’re a great interviewer. Evan has such an interesting story. Looking forward to more.
Well I just found you through this interview. I kept seeing clips on FB videos and was compelled by Evans story. It's so amazing to put a face, a life behind some of the biggest songs of my teens and early 20s.
After hearing him speak about how mythical his father became because he barely got to know him before he passed, I keep thinking about how wonderful it will be for his children to have an interview like this with career and life so wonderfully captured and brought to life, a format where we really get to hear him tell it himself, with aristry and passion straight from the heart. ❤
Cool interview, but this dude is trying SO HARD not to seem like a nepo baby. "I grew up music adjacent" - bro you're mom discovered Kiss and your dad had the worlds biggest record label. You're not "music adjacent" and you did NOT have the industry work against you.
I have been binge-watching these interviews, and they are SO interesting and inspiring. I haven’t felt this inspired in a long time. You’re rocking this channel-keep it up Daniel
Been watching these shorts for a week and I finally caved 😂 Like that the interviewer lets him tell his story without interruption. Also it worked out well that it was chronological, loses value when people move back and forth in time too much. Mans is a great storyteller too 🤝🏾
I really enjoy Bogarts work but he is pretty disingenuous about getting his start. "Are you related to Neil? Yeah that was my dad. You're hired."..."Everyone just assumed I was there for some nepotistic reason" Because you were. You can be hired because of nepotism and still work incredibly hard to be successful, but don't pretend you didn't get your foot in the door because of your last name.
found this part so jarring like even deciding to get into the industry and having the confidence to do all that or reach to people was because of his family you think a random kid back in those days before the internet would even know how to do that loool
motr zhan an hour into this interview and man...evan has the passion. the way he talk about his friends or other artists....just makes me smile cuz its so joyfull and you cann see it in his eyes
Love the shorts so I checked out the whole video! He’s amazing! It’s also nostalgic. My friends and I sang to his songs in high school and college. Fun times
Literally just proved that the music industry is a price you pay with your soul... This shows they believe God does exist, but they denounce it and therefore a slave to the devil.
Such an amazing and inspiring interview! Evan's stories and anecdotes are fascinating, and I really appreciate how open he was about his challenges and darker moments. It's refreshing to see someone so accomplished not shy away from their weaknesses but instead use them as fuel for growth. Truly a masterclass in resilience and creativity. This conversation will definitely inspire many. Thank you for sharing!
This was freaking awesome!! This is the perfect pitch: A fantastically prepared interviewer who is defo ately a fan, matched with an interviewee. Lots of awesome storyteller!!
I’ve seen a few shorts and finally had to commit to the whole sit down. Super excited to hear his story unfold. It always surprises me to find out who is actually behind so many of the _HUGE_ hits!
What an amazing interview. Still watching and taking it in. Just the SOS second verse story is enough to watch this. Love Take You There. What a legend Evan is. Thank you, Daniel, for highlighting the people behind he music we all know and love!
Wow this is such an incredible and inspiring story and video! 😁I can just watch the video in one sitting. I like the questions that you ask, Daniel, you do a great job. 😊I love knowing the story behind anything and the process of how it came to be. I love music so much it's my life😍 like I literally am constantly listening to or singing songs. I want to learn more about the process of all aspects of it, even if I don't end up singing or songwriting as a job, it's just so interesting. I probably will still sing and write on my own time though. ☺
Man as soon as i started this vid i was captivated its after giving me passion to start writing lyrics again just as a hobby an u never no especially these days.god bless to u all.luv from Ireland 😊one of the best interviews iv listened to in a long time man is a legend a kinda unknown one
Thank you for this interview. This interview had a lot of lessons and backstories which I love. Great job to Daniel showing love and interest with Evan’s story. Love it man! Salute!🫡
@@DanielsWall I was surprised about hearing the whole Eminem discovery thing. The whole time I really thought it was Dave who got the tape from him but found out there was a whole different story
i LOVE hearing how the songs i grew up with and have loved for so long are made and what goes into it. The story behind every song and why each artist writes and creates the music is fascinating to me.
This is the kid that Eminem said he threw his cassette at and didn't think much of it. It's awesome to put a face to the name.
Oh shit. Ya i remember that interview.

So glad they talked about Bridget Mendler’s debut album… still one of my fave albums from the Disney stars of my generation.
She’s soooo good
It was such a different sound than the other singers, I loved it.

even as a kid you could discern the sound/lyrics were special and not cookie cutter.
Throughout his entire crazy story, if he’s remembered for nothing else, he can always be the man that linked Em up with Dr and Jimmy. Dope.
*Must READ:* Don't pay him any attention - he is lying. I discovered Eminem at 'Gilbert's Restaurant' in '97. We worked there together - washing dishes. I was so impressed and enamored with Marsh's skill that I vowed to get him some sort of label recognition. We would talk for hours about what his success would look like. I literally copied his e.p. hundreds of times myself through my own stereo and incessantly mailed his music all across the country. To Suge and Deathrow, Diddy and Badboy, to Fat Joe and Terror Records etc etc etc. I finally recieved a response from Evan from Interscope and he too was so floored by how original M's music was that he promised to get it into a listening session with Jim and Dre. He was so commited. He called us and left regular updates on his progress and the many schemes he was plotting and trialing in order to get the damn tape into Jimmy's office bag that he reserves for new tapes worth listening to. Anywhat, I am 'The Discoverer'. Which is why M namedropped me on his record. And why I have a Slim Shady LP producer credit and recieve royalty checks once a quarter that still gives me 10's of thousands of dollars worth of income every year. My role in this is also why Marshall, my friend, bought me a house in north Detroit where I still live and am currently raising my children. And as a piece of irony, me and Marsh bought and co-owned Gilbert's for sometime before selling it away. I think it has since closed. Idk. Or care. I'm rich as f*ck and am livin it up with better sht to concern myself with. You're welcome. For giving you Eminem. It was my gift to you. Yours truly, The Discoverer.
Love that you just let him go and tell the story front to back, chiming in only when the conversation called for it. Awesome interview!
Another great interview, Daniel. I was the frontman in Days Difference, so it was hilarious hearing Evan mention his song “Down with Me” and how incredulous he was that they kept his superior British accent on the track when we did the vocals. Total trip.
Yo!!! We smashed that!
Yo! Your band was sick af! Speakers is still so good!
Evan is such a genuine person, time flew by listening to him.
Amazing😊
Love that he lets the man's talk, doesn't interrupt. Just shows genuine interest. Keep it up brotha 🙌
Evan Bogart: *Random 90s musical refennce*
Daniel clearly not understanding reference: “wwoowwwwwwww”
The Eminem story is wild!!
I like that he will go down a rabbit hole when initially being asked a question but he somehow always answers the original question in the end. Great interview all around
Been getting cleaned up this year and have been stoked with how the creative juices have been flowing. Sometimes you just get a sign. Thanks dude 💚
Evan, thank you for believing so much in the man Eminem and bringing him to us.
I have so many songs I’ve written that I want to shop to artists, I’ve yet to figure out how to properly do it without being jerked. The gems this man is dropping are priceless!
Good luck man! Just don’t give up if you’re turned down by ppl at first!
Thank you Daniel for recording these videos man! Thank Evan for sharing your stories and knowledge
This means the world Xande! Appreciate you for checking it out - what was your biggest takeaway?
The short reels on fb and twitter brought me to this cause this is all so fascinating.
1:48 FUEGO IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE CHEETAH GIRLS SONG WHAT
so happy to hear this! Let me know what you think of the whole interview!
37:48 "I don't think korn or eminem even know that eminem is in the Korn music video, but Eminem is in the Korn music video." 😅
Em didnt even remember he was in the Still Dre video.
true
I didn't know him before this interview, but man, it was so interesting! Thank you so much for introducing us to such inspirational people! Could've listened to him for 2 more hours
Same!!
"I spell you're wrong in the pre-chorus, no one cares"😂😂
I always assume the lyrics was "Y O U are...", the fact you meant it to be "Y O U R..." is so funny to me, so relatable.
I thought that too haha
I had to go back and listen to Halo because of this interview. This man’s interview can be a documentary.
What an incredible interview with education, passion, hardship and growth. Gratitude to all of you. Thank you ❤
So happy you enjoyed it!!!!!!!
He feels like such a dad grandpa energy with crazy stories of the Wild West good ol’, build up from the bottom lose it all and crash and epic come back 🔥 healing nostalgia vibes
This man’s story telling is just as good as his writing skills. Great interview from beginning to end!
Daniel, you're killing it! The way you dive deep into the subject is mind-blowing
FB shorts brought me here. I absolutely LOVE this interview! Great chemistry, great questions, and great stories. 10/10 would recommend
Wow. The ending of this interview became full circle. Love how he was such an inspiration for you!
3:57 I always thought sos was the chorus and the “rescue me” is the post chorus
This was the greatest and inspiring story for me to hear. I have a lot of music that’s out and I’ve been trying to be in the spotlight and Evan just showed me that I could ball out the same way with writing and selling my songs. I never believe that I could, not be in the spotlight but this just showed me right here. I may have been chasing my wrong path in success. Thank you for this interview so much.
This dude is so cool, and the interviewee is so young and misses all the references... but he brought us the story 🙏 bless him
58:11 I always thought this was “Y.O.U. Are making this hard”
Hey Daniel. I discovered your channel the last ep. Watched the whole interview. Now watching this one. Please keep em coming. You’re a great interviewer. Evan has such an interesting story. Looking forward to more.
That family history though! Wow Nepotism isn’t even the word
Love the video man! Dudes recall is insane 🤯 Evan is a music industry legend
at first i wasn’t sure how i felt, but the secret marriage in vegas sold me - dude is a legend
Underdog? Lol. He’s the sun of the founder of Casablanca Records.
did you even listen to his story
you’re not completely wrong but well off and nepotism are definitely ultimately
This interview both encapsulates being in the right place at the right time, but also how powerful privilege is.... Good luck
yeah, little weird how much he emphasized nepotism playing no role and being a “double whammy” against him
Well I just found you through this interview.
You're not "music adjacent" and you did NOT have the industry work against you.
either way, this mf crushed it his whole career and carved his own path
This man wrote almost all of my favorite songs and I don't even know him. What a legend!
SAME!!!
I have been binge-watching these interviews, and they are SO interesting and inspiring. I haven’t felt this inspired in a long time. You’re rocking this channel-keep it up Daniel
Been watching these shorts for a week and I finally caved 😂
Like that the interviewer lets him tell his story without interruption. Also it worked out well that it was chronological, loses value when people move back and forth in time too much.
Mans is a great storyteller too 🤝🏾
I have t been this excited to watch a two hour video in a while! Let’s go!
Ryan should tell the story of how Beyonce’s Halo and Kelly Clarkson’s Already Gone sounds so similar.
EVAN To the guy with the "Seeker" shirt, Vernon Howard. EVAN EVAN
I really enjoy Bogarts work but he is pretty disingenuous about getting his start.
"Are you related to Neil? Yeah that was my dad. You're hired."..."Everyone just assumed I was there for some nepotistic reason" Because you were. You can be hired because of nepotism and still work incredibly hard to be successful, but don't pretend you didn't get your foot in the door because of your last name.
found this part so jarring like even deciding to get into the industry and having the confidence to do all that or reach to people was because of his family you think a random kid back in those days before the internet would even know how to do that loool
this is one of the best interviews i’ve ever heard
motr zhan an hour into this interview and man...evan has the passion. the way he talk about his friends or other artists....just makes me smile cuz its so joyfull and you cann see it in his eyes
Awesome interview! I love how you let Evan just tell the stories and not interrupt him. Good job, keep it up!
I dont usually comment but that was absolutley brilliant. So insightful and genuine, well worth the watch
15:00 eminem
Thanks
Always thought Dean Guyslinger was the guy to discover him
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
He starts at 15 then veers off for 9 minutes. The story really starts at 24 minutes
@@dinaboy2did you not watch the video? According to this guy Dean just took the credit
I generally hate podcasts, but this was fantastic man nice job, love the concept.
This has got to be one of the greatest interviews i’ve ever heard! So cool!
This series is so awesome !! It was so cool & insightful to hear his process of creating some of the best songs in history
LOVED THIS!!! This dude has written SO many tunes on my playlists. What a legend!
Great stories and learnings 👏🏻
He looks just like his dad. Especially when he smiles.
Such a solid interview man, love your content and questions you ask‼️
Ive seen shorts about this and i just had to check this out. So many HUGE songs and artists. Crazy story.
Very interesting interview! Thank you!
What a tremendous and inspiring interview. All the best to both of you.
best podcast out rn
This is my favorite comment of the week! Thank you for making my day!!!!
@@DanielsWall loving this series, keep up the good work 😁
What an amazing interview.
You have got to try your best to get Max Martin
Thank you for this interview. This interview had a lot of lessons and backstories which I love. Great job to Daniel showing love and interest with Evan’s story. Love it man! Salute!🫡
So happy to hear it connected for you! What was one of the biggest takeaways for you?
@@DanielsWall I was surprised about hearing the whole Eminem discovery thing. The whole time I really thought it was Dave who got the tape from him but found out there was a whole different story
Saw a clip of this on tiktok, came to watch the full thing, Evan was great!
Just when I was close to listening to all his songs he co-written I find out he’s written 267 songs….. imma be listening for a while
i LOVE hearing how the songs i grew up with and have loved for so long are made and what goes into it. The story behind every song and why each artist writes and creates the music is fascinating to me.
I’m an aspiring song writer and I keep seeing clips and I’ve just been completely drawn in by this man’s story
Great stories, great interview, thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Really inspirational.
Appreciate you for checking it out! What was your biggest takeaway?
Love your interviews! Always inspiring
never in a millions years would i guess its this guy writing all those hits...mad talent
So inspiring, thanks for sharing!
Do you think you'd be able to interview Greg Kurstin? He's also behind so much iconic music of the 2000s-2010s era
SO glad we can put some respect on Bridgit mendler’s album bc it really is amazing from beginning to end & highly underrated
