this has been a game changer! metering tips in this less expensive foam gun has made washing so much easier. no more measuring . load full soap into container and lasts a bunch of vehicles! especially nice from a business stand point. its always ready to go and never overflows or makes a mess when filling. thank you

I commented on other videos about how you can change the spray angle and they said they couldn't do it. Maybe there are different versions out there or they just cant figure it out. I got it just to prove the metering tip. Saw in the pictures it was the same ball at the end of the tube so knew it would work.

I just bought this Griot's foam Cannon from pep boys for $59.00 and pretty damn happy for the $. Especially after using a cheap one from advanced auto for the last 3 years. Huge difference. 💪💯🇺🇲 Great video
It is a great foam cannon. Keep an eye on the weighted ball it seems to rust if you leave it in water too long. I heard they fixed it, but they are replacing them as well if you hit up customer service.

Great review, I've watched many on this and definitely going to buy one I've been using the $20 Amazon cheapie, I've watched two other well known detailers do the review actually three and all of them didn't get for not going horizontal which wasn't a deal breaker anyway but you figured it right out thank you . New subscriber
Appreciate that. I think there are two versions out there with horizontal only and the weighted ball has a different diameter on some where the metering tips wont fit. I tried buying two and they were all the same as the one I had, but some people I trust said theirs is different and it makes since griots doesn't want to cannibalize the sales from the higher end BOSS foam cannon and might have changed the features.

Thanks for giving it a shot with the metering tip. Awesome work. Lets see how it does on the MJJC. If it works there then you have the best all around. Sure it will be a little heavier but the bottle has measurements, you can change the orientation of the spray, swapping orifices are super easy and it already has a killer foaming capability. Throw in a now mix with metering and the search is over until MTM comes out with their next unit. Lol.
This is true and the leakproof top. The Griots does have orientation. You just got to turn the fan spread till you hit resistance then you can change orientation.
@@CarsWithKeav true with the griots having orientation. I should have said easier orientation control with MJCC without impacting your fan spread adjustment like you would have to do with Griots. At the end of they day they are all superb. Looking forward to your next vidz.

I think a foamed perfect, you don't need super thick foam that just sits there. The foam pulled down nice and steady. I'm order one right now.
You are right, the only reason I go by thickness is that the thicker you have it with the same dilution the more soap you can save by dialing it down. I like it to run off real good on my first foam and rinse and then like it to be thick when I spray a second time to use with my mitt so I can do the whole car and still have useable foam the whole time.

Hey, thanks for sharing. If I'm not mistaken you took out a 1.1 orifice and put in a 1.25 orifice which actually made it foam less would've loved to seen what it what I've done with the smaller orifice.
I would get way more foam, but it puts extra load on the VE52 and I only have a 15 AMP fuse and my breaker pops when I’m running the A/C in the garage. The foam I’m getting g is about all I want.

I'm in the process of exchanging the BOSS with the Brilliant Finish cannon because many videos say the Brilliant Finish performs better. I there is a least 1 caveat: the BOSS cannon is much more robust with stainless steel components which are more heavy duty. If I were a pro detailer, I'd go with the Boss. However, as an enthusiast I don't plan to put that much strain on my equipment and it wouldn't see nearly as much use as a pro. The aluminum construction and plastic foam control should be fine for consumer use. And the tips as mentioned can be purchased separately if you want to fit them because that's the primary reason I purchased the BOSS originally. The BOSS construction and price are overkill for most, and it seems the Brilliant Finish is the way to go for most consumers.
One thing to look out for is that Griots is catching on and changing the weighted ball not to accept the metering tips. I'm sure its do to making sure they don't hurts sales of the Boss one. Seems to be hit or miss, but if it doesn't fit some have been able to use heat shrink or electrical tape round the metering tape to get it to fit. Also, I just did a video on how to use the metering tips on just about any foam cannon.

Just ordered one after watching your video. I also ordered mtm hydro 28 special kit with gun. which one should I keep? hope it works out with my new ryobi 40v 1500 psi whisper washer.
As long as you use the 1.1mm orifice you should be good. If the SGS28 kit included the MTM PF22.2 then to me the Griots is better. Just not a fan of the narrow neck and old school tube. Still makes good foam though.

Yup, only soap in the last one. Metering tip only pulls a small amount and mixes in the manifold. I’m using Gtechniq G wash in the video. Most all Gtechniq cleaning products are PH neutral, coating safe and designed especially for them. Their W4 virus foam is great as well for the pre-rinse. All my cars are vinyl wrapped, PPF front bumpers and coated. Coating integrity is why I choose them. Thx for subscribing. Got big plans for this spring.

Your pressure washer seems right on the edge of the 1.1vs 1.25 orifice. In which case I'd actually stick with the 1.1, you'll get thicker foam.
I'm choosing pressure washer longevity over foam. The 1.1 draws too many Amps and also can trip my breaker if I am running anything else at the same time.
When you spray the car with foam. Do you need to wipe down the foam then rinse?. Or just spray the foam rinse the hand dry?.
Depends on how dirty the car is and if you are ceramic coated. Just some pollen or dust then I would just foam and rinse. If after a rain then I would foam once and rinse then foam again and mitt wash then rinse.
Hey keave maybe you can help me out I bought this foam cannon and i got no foam at all what so ever just straight water…. I also have a foam cannon from amazon and it works fine… so i dont think its the power washer or any of the other equipment i think its the cannon?
Could be a lot of things. I will list them here, but if you need more help DM me a video of it on Instagram we will get it figured out. Water control lever needs to be all the way to the right. Orifice behind quick connect is missing or loose. Suction tube not fully installed or has a blockage. Manifold not full tightened to the cap (metal part attached to the red plastic)
Did you try the pink metering tip or just the purple?
Just purple, have not tried the other colors yet. I think they would be more soap so even more foam in theory.
What does the metering tip do exactly? And where can I find one?
Griots garage website has them and it changes the diameter of the pickup tube in the foam cannon. Allowing you to bring up only a certain amount of soap which in turn makes a perfect dilution once the water and soap mix in the manifold. You have different size tips to allow you to dial in the amount of foam you want.
I'm missing the point about the metering tip. are you suggesting that metering tip comes with the brilliant finish cannon or you switched it over from the Boss that you already own? My Brilliant Finish cannon did not come with any extra metering tip. Can I get that from Griotts?
The Brilliant finish shares the suction tube and weighted ball from the BOSS foam cannon. It does not come with the tip, but you can get the tip from Griots and use it in your foam cannon. I used the tips that came with the BOSS foam cannon for this. Problem is they want like $6 for a few tips and then some have told me up to $12 to ship it. LOL
Do you need those purple tips? I just tried that exact foam cannon (without the purple tube.) And it produced no foam what so ever. I just bought a Craftsman 1,900 PSI 1.2GPM electric pressure washer. Filled the bottle 3/4 of the way full and I put in Adam's Ultra Foam Shampoo. Do you know if I need this purple tube to make it foam?
Purple tip is only needed to do an auto mix which is all soap and the tip lowers the amount of soap being pulled form the bottle and gets mixed in the top. Have you tried any other foam cannon before or pressure washer? Do you have really hard water? Many things can impact foam. Have you tried each selection on the dial? Is any type of soap mix coming out or just water? Normally with good water you need about 100ml to 150ml or so of soap and the rest water in the bottle.
Where can you purchase just the metering tips?
You can get at Griots, but what sucks is they charge a lot for shipping on such a small item.
So do the metering tips fit the mjjc? Assuming they do, would you still take this brilliant finish cannon over the mjjc? Thanks
They can fit if you drill out the weighted ball or you can stick them in the tube near the cap. I have a video on modifying any foam cannon to use the metering tips.

when i threaded my quick connect it leaks and i’ve unscrewed and screwed multiple times on my foam cannon not my gun. any suggestions?
Teflon tape if you are having any leaks. They usually come coated with red stuff on the threads. I usually always on a threaded connection use Teflon tape just to be safe unless it is an o ring type plug which a lot of the newer foam cannons are starting to use.

@@blogsforary In my new scoring system for foam cannons that is one of the things I judge. The o ring connections have a much larger bolt size as well and hand tight is leak free. Really no tool needed.
Great review. Eagerly wanting to try out the automix feature with a pre-wash soap, a foaming soap, brake buster, and N-914, I went out and bought 4 of them and a 6-pack of each of the tips. However, I'm finding that the orifice in the "ball" that accepts the tip is way too big for the tip. So none of the tips are securing in there for me on any of the 4 brilliant finish foam cannons that I bought. I put the tip in, invert it and it just falls out. Was it loose fitting for you -- and did you have to wrap it in anything to get it to stay in there? I'm thinking about wrapping it in electrical tape or something just to get it wedged in there enough to stay in place.
That's weird I have had no issue with the tips, but maybe they have changed things to make it hard to use auto-mix on a Brilliant Finish? Mine are pretty secure in there maybe something to try outside of electrical tape is maybe heat shrink for wiring. if you have a chance hit me up on Instagram and we can exchange pictures on the weighted ball. I was thinking at some point they might try to stop hurting the sales of the Boss foam cannon. Nothing we cant hack around though you can take those tips and shove them in a tube near where it intakes or just behind the ball as well on other canons. Just have not had time to try it out yet.
@@CarsWithKeav Just got back from the garage -- it took 4 layers of 1/8" electrical tape to get a snug fit. I wish I would have thought of heat shrink before wrapping like 8 tips! If they fail I'll try heat shrink next time. Next up I'm going to do some testing with dilution ratios on the VE52 with aqua/purple/pink and the 1.1 vs 1.25 orifices, but my cars are already clean. Good thing my trees need some watering!

I’m like if I didn’t have to dry them again then I would.😂 Sounds like they found out and now are boring out the center so you can’t use the tips. I want to measure the AMPs of using VE52 with a 1.1mm, I was always afraid to burn mine out. I still prefer 1.25 since it eats soup a little slower.
@@CarsWithKeav Well guys, I too have both, the MJJC and the Brilliant Finish foam guns, The MJJC's weighted ball is different. It doesn't look like it would accept the metering tips, like the Boss does. And you guys are right, the hole in the ball of the Brilliant Finish version is too big (now) for the tips. And Griot's doesn't sell the Boss weight, for the obvious reason. I guess you could "deepen" the two stake marks on each side of the Brilliant Finish ball's opening, but I like the heat shrink option better (just finished doing that). By the way, these tips are commonly used in other cleaning industries, such as automated car washes (where you are drawing chemicals from larger reservoirs). If you want to experiment further, and "fine tune" your output (possibly based on the viscosity of your soap, pressure, water flow, and other factors), you can buy a kit of these nozzles (14 in all), with varying orifice sizes, from companies like W.W. Grainger, for about $13.00. I'm betting that "auto-mixing" could be done with most foam cannons. Now I am thinking of how to add a weight to the end of any pickup tube, that will accept orifices.....like a carburetor jet, or any other defined changeable orifice.
@@stevenb.182 I have a video coming out soon using these metering tips on all cannons including pf22.2. You can stuff them in the siphon tube near the top and seems to work well. Some of the cheap ones the tube may be too big though.

Only place I know to get the right dilution metering tips is Griots garage website. There are other companies and tips out there, but I don't know the right dilution ratios.
What type of hose you've been using in this video ? is it uberflex ?

Use a 1.1m orifice...it doesn't stress the Active. Use the Aqua metered tip with Adam's Mega Foam...Foam Canon endgame.
Just way too much foam and the load gets closer to 15 and I can’t run other electronics or I pop the breaker. I have tried.
Good to know, I was going to swap it to the 1.25mm based on other reviews. Maybe I'll try it with the pink tip and a 1.1mm orifice, if I can get the tip to stay in the ball...
pan the organiser used griot brilliant finish cannon diluted with water in the bottle without a metering tip. He got the thickest foam ever. Also voted it his best foam cannon when he tested it with mtm, chemical guys, mjjc in comparison.
I commented on that video when it came out quite some time ago. It’s what got me to try the brilliant finish. That was the MJJC version 1. The version 2 does better foam. Also Just due to manufacturing processes some do better than other if the exact same kind. I bought a second Brilliant finish because people told me they changed the weighted ball. I tested and that one foamed better, much closer to the MJJC. Same thing happens with pressure washers. Each one performs slightly different. Either way they are both good and MJJC has raised their prices. It’s not worth $80 to $90 when the BOSS cannon is the same price.
@@CarsWithKeav yes many variations output water flow. Orifice size. Type of solution. I have a mjjc in UK. I use 1.1. but I have to use 35ml solution to 665ml of water set to max dial. But I have a variable washer which I set to low output of water. But I'm deciding to go back to manufacture recommended solution amount because to little solution the cleaning properties don't activate properly. The last time I used 100ml to 500ml recommend amount it was like Christmas. I think less total volume and turn dial down a bit.
@@preteshpatel959 It takes many times to finally dial in the foam for own wash setup and of course you change your mind everytime you get it dialed in. LOL I'm running about 120ml and fill to the 1000ml mark giving me an 8 to 1 dilution.
@@CarsWithKeav I was curious because I saw many enthusiastic and pro detailers use APC with no foam just a extremely thin layer over a vehicle then rinse and it all comes off. So I was curious just a very thin layer of concentrated snow foam is better instead of piling it on because the inner layer of foam is actually touching the vehicle being inch thick is it necessary.
What PSI is the pressure washer that you are using?
It states 1800 max, but it works constant at 1100 with my setup. For foam though it’s all about gallons per minute which this unit has 2.0 max GPM. PSI doesn’t impact foam. Here is a link to the video I did testing this pressure washer. ruclips.net/video/StD2t_zvlDs/видео.html

@@benciha389 I used to have a 1.2 Ryobi and if you have a 1.1mm orifice Installed it foamed pretty good. Water quality is also a big factor in producing foam. Hard water has difficulty making foam. Just saw it sold out, but I found the following link. It’s slightly more, but it’s the same pump and is manufactured by Active. I purchased this foam cannon months ago and the damn threads were stripped. Couldnt get it to work at all so I just sent it back. Shame because I was excited to use it
Yeah, that thread has a tight tolerance. Just think if that was a metal thread top like the PF22. It would strip that in a heart beat. Sucks that happened. I almost stripped it out myself. One thing I'm going to do is use the inner thread and a smaller bottle filled with 100% soap since I don't have to worry about mixing anymore. See how that works out.
Newbie question. Can a foam cannon + pressure washer replace the need for a contact wash for general maintenance washes? I initially failed to see the value of the foam step for my use case (drive only on weekends and the car doesn’t get super dirty). But a contact wash takes a long time. Watching you foam the car so quickly, I’m thinking I could wash the entire car less wheels in about 5-10 minutes. That would be huge - but only if I can skip the contact wash. Thoughts?
I don't use contact washes most of the time. Only when the car has been driven in the rain, but as long as the car has a good coating or sealant then you should have no problem just rinsing off first then foam and another rinse. Sometimes I might do two foams (An initial pre-rinse not heavy in soap mixed with a small amount of PH Neutral All purpose cleaner). Most of my contact washes I really don't even use a bucket I just foam the car again and use that foam with my mitt (I only suggest this if you have a quality ceramic coating or the car is wrapped). My last video on washing a ceramic coated car I explain you can skip contact wash if the car is not that dirty. The coating will repel the dirt and will wash off pretty easily. A really good sealant or ceramic spray is good as well. Foaming is mainly an additional step to get as much contamination off so you are not swirling it around with the contact wash or as a quick way to wash if the car is not that dirty (I mean that's what a touchless wash does). Sorry this is so long. LOL
Do you suppose to rinse the car off first then use the foam blaster?
This is a very debated topic. To me depends on the finish and coating on the car and what kind of dirt is on it. If you are using a water hose then the pressure is not enough to really scratch the surface when rinsing. I feel you get better coverage with the foam if the loose dirt is rinsed off. Take caution though and make sure the rinse wont make the dirt possibly scratch the surface. A soft painted surface with no ceramic probably would foam first.
@@CarsWithKeav i have a sunjoe electric power washer+ the Foam blaster come with it, & i always rinse off first then apply the foam, But soon as the foam touches the car it runs off. It don’t get thick enough to shape the car

I have not tried that one, but the price tag of $90 alone is enough to make me pick this one. In that price range I would think a pf22.2 or BOSS Foam cannon would be better, but that's just my opinion based on reviews I have seen.

Would the Griot's Garage Brilliant Foam Finish still considered the best/top dog foam cannon out there?
Not when it comes to foam, but it checks every other box and I recently did a drop test video and it survived all of it. MJJC Pro V2 would be the best foam you can get and is a close 2nd in durability and build quality.
@@CarsWithKeav I hear ya. After doing some digging and watching a lot of videos, I'm gonna have to snag one of the MJJC S v3.0's. Pretty much the same as the Pro v2, just different aesthetics.
@@TheAnointedOne7 Don’t drop it with liquid in it. I like them and would take the risk. Clear bottles are not very durable, but I love the way they look.
I just called griots to order and was told that they will not work nor fit. Is this true?
I think they caught on because somebody else told me theirs did not fit. they made the hole on the weighted ball at the end of the siphon tube bigger, but they were able to get it to work by wrapping the metering tip in electrical tape and getting it to fit. I am working on a video to find ways to use these outside of the weighted ball and to work with other foam cannons. They also don't want that unit to be used for auto mixing as it messes with their sales of the BOSS foam cannon. I have not seen the new ones to know if they changed it or not.

Also noticed you can't turn the fans horizontal anymore. Newer models is stuck to just vertical. I tried turning on first foam cannon I got two weeks ago and it broke since I forced it. Got a replacement from Amazon. Tried turning it again and met resistance. Didn't want to force it fearing it might break again. Also the quick connect and ball is so cheaply made. Another one of my friend who ordered it because of my recommendation stripped the quick connect. He kept tightening it since it was leaking then stripped it Moreover, the weighted ball on his unit rusted only after 4 times of use. He always removed from the bottle after every use to air dry. Griot's cheating us with their new products. Stick with MJJC folks. Better overall quality. Stay away from Griots foam cannons and stick with their other products.

Griot's caught on with the metering tips and changed the hole on the weighted ball. Also, you can't turn fan blades to be horizontal orientation anymore on new models. Shame on you Griot's!
Yup, that’s what I’m hearing. You can still get the metering tips to work my wrapping it with tape or heat shrink to fit. You can also put it in the siphon tube toward the top. Making a video on that process soon. I knew they would catch on.

Love the Boss, but its so pricey. MJJC is now the ultimate after I took the suction hose and weighted ball from the brilliant finish so I can auto mix.
