Ron Cook is a treasure in Pittsburgh. The respect that everyone gave Ron at the end is more than warranted. Ron was always known as a straight shooter and non BSer. Will miss hearing his takes and stories. Enjoy retirement sir!
Ron, I have enjoyed without question all the time I have listened to you on the radio! A true Pittsburgh sports legend in his own right. God bless and enjoy the retirement, you deserve it.
Myron Cope and Stan Savran will always be the one two in Pittsburgh talk shows, but Ron Cook you are close behind. May you have a great retirement and I hope you keep in ear open on Pittsburgh sports and pipe in from time to time.
Ron Cook, I have always LOVED sports and I NEVER liked sports radio... I found it boring and mildly irritating. That was until I listened to you and Starky years ago... and ever since, I have listened EVERY single day I was able to. I can't tell you how sad this week has been but I wish you all the best down South. Thank you for sharing your stories and your passion with all of us!
Please tell Ron that my buddy Dick Cardosi, a native of New Brighton, who was Ronnie Lotts HS basketball coach, passed away last year. Dick was a Fontana Guy who coached at Ike HS in Rialto, CA
What an awful thing to say Whether you like the guy or not you shouldn't say things like that n Florida actually has it going on the free state of Florida Be well
If only you would be fortunate enough one day to retire off into the sunset after a long and productive career and somebody say something like that to you
Before everyone overreacts and attacks Mutual235 for what he said, Ron Cook did not die, he just merely decided on his own accord to retire and move to Florida. Over his time in Pittsburgh, he has at times, rubbed some Pittsburgh sports fans the wrong way and I don't think that he'd deny doing so. So I do understand why the poster said what he said and honestly I have no issue with it. He worked in Pittsburgh, reporting on mostly Pittsburgh sports teams and he, at times, seemed to go out of his way to report negatively on a local sports team like the Pitt Panthers, while at the same time he tried to put a positive spin on its arch rival psu. So while it may bother some Yinzers to hear someone voice a negative comment about Ron Cook, he earned that. Sorry.
Pittsburgh radio will never be the same without Ron Cook❤

Has Ron's replacement been named?
Y’all care more about pirates vs pens and Steelers losing vas lens it’s so boring in sports not having hockey talk over pirates
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Go get your StD’s in your new Florida community
