    The stabilizing tech you used makes this look like a JFK assassination reenactment

    Really dig this technique and look. Really hope you keep making videos. As a recommendation: use a tripod for your main shots and a separate camera/phone for motion shots or use the tripod as a steadycam by holding the main post underneath the tripod legs to keep the shakiness down. Love the information and presentation, regardless!

    Hi. at the end to where you bathe it in baking soda do you let it dry off or do you wipe the water before adding the clear coat ?

    Neat! But confused, because isn’t vinegar also a good rust remover ?

    • @samusaran4799
      @samusaran4799 5 лет назад

      Matt Correia it softens rust to make it easier to scrape off but it also adds rust if you don’t remove it

    Does it work on stainless steel? Got a kitchen tray and bowl I'd like to use on my food photos and I would like them to look old and used. Should this work? Or should I use fine sandpaper first before using vinegar?

      +Karolina F are u asking if u can stain stainless steel?

    • @KaRoLaJnA25
      @KaRoLaJnA25 8 лет назад +1

      +Alex Storms Yup, you know, that Chinese piece of crap called stainless steel ;) I've bought few trays for my food photography. I thought that I could somehow be able to quickly destroy them and make them look older. After using steel wool on them there is only rust, a better option was to paint them with chalk paint.

      re-sand it and try, pitting from rust may give them a nice "aged" look

    Joe, how will I do it with a 5 gal. tank. That is the style I am looking for with my Harley. I am not picky. You mentioned lacquer. Would I use that as well? I am fixing to take all paint off on fenders, and gas tank.

      +Thor Hamm - Hi there, so did you do that to your tins? How did it turn out? Any pics? I'd like to do this to my Honda Valkyrie. Cheers!

      Hey, I have yet to get the paint off. I got very busy. But I am working on it. I will post photos as soon as it comes. Thanks for your response.

      Also, I did talked with a painter(cars), says, as long as you coat it with clear that it is ok but would rather use paint to get same effect than rusting it. Rust unpredictable with time.

    Will white wine vinegar work?

  • @hcamardelle

    Does anyone have any input on how this finish would fare if I used a clear powder coat instead of the laquer?

  • @doug5433
    @doug5433 7 лет назад

    If you were to 'block' an area before applying vinegar (using a vinyl stencil for example), would you be able to get sharp lines or will the oxidation blur edges? I'm thinking of building up a multi-layered stencil with multiple applications. Anyone know if this will work? Thanks

      Should work. Once I didn’t notice a sticker was on the bottom and it was not aged underneath.

    Help me understand why you would "cut away" at the exact points where folks would need to see the process?
    You bring the metal back to the camera after it has already been worked on. The point of these types of channels is to show the work -process.
