Wow, saved my comment for this last video. This has been a tremendous series. I started fishing tournaments 2 years ago and quickly realized the fish have to be in a "good" mood to hit a moving bait, therefore after the first 3 tournaments, 3,4,4, out of a 5 fish limit. Something had to change, I went online and ordered a few different jigs for the next tournament and immediately, my partner and I had 5 fish in the boat and I was contributing. Now I don't go out with less than 2 tied on, our local lake is really pressured, clean, standing timber and rocky (big) Usually I will have a full size and a compact. Now after watching the entire series I will have a compact football tied on every time out. Thanks IKE
Excellent series and very helpful Mike! Now I need to start building confidence in my skirted jig fishing. Thanks for taking the time to teach all of this!
If you were a preacher I would go to your church every Sunday and never miss a sermon 👍❤️🎣😎
I could seriously listen and take notes on hundreds of hours of Ike talking fish tips and tricks.
I needed every word of this! Thanks!
Awesome stuff Mike, thanks for sharing🎣
Phenomenal series Ike!!! Please keep these in-depth tutorials coming. This is like when you once said when you were learning about bass fishing, you would read every issue of Bassmasters to increase your knowledge. This is better!!!
Never give up 🦅🦅🦅
Ike thanks for the in depth series on jigs. Much appreciated. With fall quickly approaching could you do a series on jerk baits. Hard and soft. Please and thank you
You're the best Ike. My favorite youtube fishing channel for sure!
Great series I love fishing his from Ohio.
I got a TON of useful info from that. Thanks IKE !
Thanks IKE!! I’m hooked on fishing but man do I love pitching a compact jig around some timber more then anything, it’s a staple everywhere but My home lake even more !! I see a lot with heavy action rods around my area and it’s just normal lay downs and standing timber I’m with ya on a medium heavy unless I’m fishing muck etc as u said . It’s the most pressured lake in state of Kentucky since right outside of Louisville per acre ..down sizing in line helps ..I’ll go to 14-15 sometimes when they’re finicky ..I like a 7”6 or 7”4 range mostly as well ..I’ll admit I’m the braid to flouro guy here but I will flip sometimes straight flouro..good tips !! I’m in love with some skipping and pitching reels I just got ..Not sponsored by em either but Lews nailed it with the “Lews Super Pro” says flip and pitch on the reel and doesn’t hold much line ..only 6.5oz in weight ..compact but has great drag ..skips and flips so easy..it’s spoiled me !! I love my Tatula series ..my biggest bass flipping actually came when I got snagged a few times and laid my flippin rod down took my abu Garcia with 12lb and caught a mega ..then down sizing line this year made a big difference . Only had one break me that way over few years knock on wood . Hope ya stick em out there
💖👍 I'm new to bait casting, this was so very helpful.
Great series Ike.Do more on other types of lures.
My favorite way to fish Ike! Fish 🐟 n sir!!
Great series. Can’t wait to get out there.
Catch them up!
Great info Mike... I have had limited success using skirted jigs, but the times I did get bites, I have lost way more fish than landed. I feel that I have "jacked them up" good enough (I have your 7' 4" signature baitcaster), but maybe not?... next time I will REALLY put the heat to my hookset and see what happens
Great series ike!
Awesome series Mike, thanks!
great series, thanks
I use 7 foot med heavy Quantum smoke rod with micro line guides and Quantum smoke S3 baitcaster with Sufix siege mono 12lbs, 14lbs. I changed to 10lbs line from 12lbs on my other reel. It's the lightest combo I ever used. Reel gears 7.3:1
Great 4 part series !
Thanks Ike. I'm excited to get out and try again with the skirted jig. I'm going to try deep in cold and hot water. I'm going to try the swim jig for the fall shad eating fest that will be starting soon!
Great content.
Great series! What's your go to braid to leader Knot?
Awesome series thanks IKE
Great info ike
This was awesome thanks man!
Loved this series...
But! Curious...where does the shaky head jig come into play? Only ask cuz I have seen quite a few guys using them with skirts, which in hadnt seen before.
I went out and got 10 of the mini jigs that you advertised 6 out of 10 the weed guards fell off. Can't beat dirty jigs.
So do you not add any backing on your reel? Just straight fluorocarbon? Would adding mono backing affect it?
I’ve never understood the purpose of a short leader to braid. I’ve thought the purpose for a floro leader was for less visibility. How does a one foot leader help you?
It also depends on what knot you’re tying to connect. Certain knots like uni-uni don’t pass through the guides too well, so a shorter leader might be helpful there. The FG knot passes through guides very easily so a long leader is perfectly fine. I usually tie a 15ft or so leader with an FG knot and use it for a month or so until it gets to about 3’ or so and tie a new one on.
Don't you mean medium/HEAVY POWER rods?
I thought the action only pertains to the rod's tip strength/flex..
Hard to watch a man with a crooked hat
Great series Mike!!
