I’m sure this young man gets the respect he deserves, do you mean you want him to become popular or well shared ? I like my gems to be well kept secrets, like appreciated amongst his community because the ones that blow up change the format and ruin the magic, among other things. This young man deserves a particular type of crowd that genuinely respects and understands his craft & he’ll be just fine ❤
I always wish I could reach out to kids who are being destructive to themselves and others; I know it's because they're hurting inside. But I also have to accept that when they see that I'm not the same gender, age, color, or ethnicity as them, they'll be suspicious and doubtful. I get it, and I don't blame them. I guess the best way I can help them is to use my social privilege for good and support the people they WILL listen to and who make them feel safe. How can I support people like this speaker?
This was absolutely beautiful. This is needed in our communities. So simple steps but because the trauma deeply rooted in our community many need to be taught just those 4 steps!!
I don't often go through and listen to Tedx Talks, but this one...my family was there but I definitely dealt with some of the things here... I'm here for it...I want to help. Shared this video on LinkedIn too.
Just because a parent is there doesn't mean they're able to do the things you need. We're all a work in progress. My parents went through enormous struggles in themselves to end the generational cycles of abuse and mental health problems. In a way, it was a privilege to see that happen over the years and an honor to have parents who were strong enough to apologize to their children and make real changes. It CAN be done. It's not easy, but it's possible and necessary.
🦋🌎I hope Nate’s endeavors for emotional fluency and creating a safe space becomes nation wide and global. Thank you for addressing how intergenerational trauma, abuse and dysfunction needs to stop so the healing can begin.🦋🌎
We also lack emotional fluency because we have a subsect in our community who allow celebrities, sports stars to be our heros, and this deep attachment to pop-culture and obsession of trying to be viewed as "cool."
Applause for bringing up Dr. DeGruy! As you were talking, I thought of that book. It was transformational in my ability to understand my culture as a White American. And tears of gratitude and love for those last words. I felt the love emanate from you.
Wow! What a powerful and thought provoking presentation. I’am so proud of you Son. Keep up the good work. God has gifted you for such a time as this. 🙏🏽❤️
Thank you for being honest about what happened to you that was not easy to do. Listen with understanding, Opening up your heart to display tender affection. Encouragement is inspired by faith, hope and love. Truthful and respectful dialogue is needed now more than ever before in human history.
51k in a year doesn’t seem bad. However people have to grow or want to grow to become emotionally fluent so they need to have in interest in this topic.
He should just be automatically included in every school system's curriculum, at least one presentation a year, in every school district, with versions for different age groups.
Much of the time, yes. That's often the only "safe" way to express pain, especially in a patriarchal society. Men are humans, and vulnerability and emotion are part of being human. They deserve to live their full humanity.
Nate did a wonderful job pointing out a social problems that need to be addressed by parents , schools and mental health professionals. Nate needs to address these three groups in order to create the safe spaces that he is recommending
Honestly I started crying watching this. My emotions are at all time high. Trying to just really thrive in society. Needed to hear this.
I hope you're still here! I hope you thrive and live out your life
I cried too bro
It’s a shame that this young brother doesn’t get the recognition and respect he deserves in Atlantic County , NJ . Keep up the good work.

This almost had me in tears cause how do you create a safe place when you don't know how to. You want to be able to provide it for sure.

This is BS
What does that mean? I"m not sure I understand?
