That was awesome! Gotta give him the win in round 2. If it was a glitch and his jet survived when it shouldn't have, of course you get the win, but if he really did play possum on purpose, it was a brilliant move to get you off his six and get back on the offensive. Hi there, Thanks so much, Im very glad you enjoy the content and no worries DCS has a great community willing to help a new guy learn and get started. thanks for your feedback and ur support.
here are 2 mistakes i see on the 2nd round. the first mistake was made by your opponent when he disengaged the spiral. he did not notice the difference in speeds and kept circling at mach 1+ making it easy for you to stay inside his turn. had he made a wide and not-too-steep turning climb with that energy difference he could have positioned himself high and out of your reach and could engage at will. you did a similar mistake after you landed the shots. you had a big advantage in energy when you realized he was still in the fight, but threw it away it on a horizontal turn fight that favored his plane when you too could position yourself high above and out of reach so you can reengage on your terms
Agree 100%, he had an energy advantage most of the time, and never used it by taking the reverse to the vertical. The Mig gets muddy fast when slow and pointing down, and would not respond well, and without serious throttle input would risk a stall. Fuel is always an issue in the Mig-29, and getting you to climb would bleed you dry. F-15 is an EM dogfighter. It can turn great, but why play on an even field when you do not have to? Slow and low is what any Russian wants. The F-15 is always better at altitude, where that lifting body has a huge advantage in a clean configuration over the Mig. If a Mig does that slow routine above 15K it falls like a brick.
he had to fly at high speed and land at 2x landing speed....landing gear broke... and he tried to stop but because of his speed he all most ran off the run way into the fence
i enjoyed this video better than other versiones of pvp fights, you really can see the skill of the pilot with guns only. i hope we can see more of these in the future
I'm sure many MANY ppl have pointed out the Dicta Boelcke rule, but you already know that. He played the part very VERY well, a 10/10 from me. I've watched the original and the replay 15-20x and the way the F15 snaps around and around would fool everyone, especially the ones that say "You shouldn't of broken off or you broke the first or second rule of DICTA BOELCKE"
Very good dogfights; i wouldn't bet for a Mig-29 vs an F-15 but you did very well IMO; on the 2nd match the F15 turned the DCS into The Rise Of Flight, somehow he tricked you and became an undead plane with a fake dead maniouver from the WWI to kill you with one wind and a half and in flames, that was impressive. Time traveling undead F15.

First of all, this was as always a great video. Now let me judge about the 2nd engagement, I'd say he won because TacView is just a program which works in algorithms, it simply can't decide if he's really dead or not. He kept fighting with his crippled wing and achieved a win. So I think he won even tho I like the MiG-29 and always getting sad seeing it getting destroyed.
I usually think of winner the one who finds a reasonable firing solution first, which you did in the second round. Failing to hit is then a bit of luck, which should not be considered in a fight. That said, and since you asked, once engaged in the last turn fight, when you were progressively losing your advantage until it became a disadvantage, you should have followed your own advice: you didn't want to see you were losing. You should have done something about it instead of keep watching him getting into your 6. I appreciate you showing all of the stuff till the end though! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed quite a lot and learned too! Keep it up.
I credit both. Tackview doesn't matter if you're dead)) But fighting with half a wing gone is also not realistic. So, good effort on Maximuses part and good dramatic ending))
risen from the dead! But the pilot has calmed down, the speed of the MiG has fallen and everything, was hit by a "ghost"))) This is surprising, the F-15C is tenacious and hot, and the defeat turned into victory.
Well, as much as it was a great fight, i have to give him the second credit. TAC view is one thing that could be the bug in the game as we've seen you flying through mountains so many times in the TAC view, but the fact is that your plane is down. So I guess it will have to be a round #3... Good fight though, cant wait for the next round :)
I really enjoy your videos, especially the TAC view analysis. Have you ever considered bringing in your opponent to comment during the analysis so that we get both perspectives on the fight? I think the back and forth commentary from initial strategy to moments of improvisation could add value to your already spot on analysis.
its a great idea anthony, and others have suggested I am working on it, Its mostly a logistics issue, with getting them to see the tacview at the same time i'm recording etc, and then the editing, lets just say i'm looking into it.
Great come back gotta give it to the 15 driver. We all know a 15 can fly with one wing so it's not unreasonable he survived ?? This is good stuff keep it up
He did because he pulled off the okey doke! But you shouldn’t feel bad in any way, without that magic trick he loses. Now you have learned a valuable lesson and are a better pilot because of it, but he cannot say the same b/c that move may never work again. That was pretty awesome though you gotta admit. Some videos came out sometime after Operation Desert Storm of F-15s engaging Iraqi Mig-29s. Most of the kills were Mig-29 shot down beyond visual range (BVR). The few dogfights that did happen were very lobsided for the F-15s. Bottom line was the F-15 pilots were all top notch graduates of the "Fighter Weapons School" (Top Gun) and Iraqi pilots had basic fighter combat training from the then Red Army pilot training. "The hard deck for this hop was 10,000 feet! You knew it, you broke it. You followed Cmdr Heatherly below it after he lost sight of you and called 'no-joy'! Why?
The one and only advantage of F-15 against MiG-29 or Su-27 is power of his engines. At 18:00 it was the first time when your opponent started to doing at least something right. When you're in a dogfight on F-15 - you're going vertical 'cause this is a dogma.
Well, I try not to comment about games that I can't play well myself, but since you *did* ask for comments...Here goes...IMO you clearly won the 1st round (kind of an "unfair" scenario, for the Eagle but it was agreed to by both so...)...And you were well on your way to winning the 2nd....But then you made an assumption.....And that assumption got you killed....It certainly wasn't your opponent's tactics (except for right at the end) cause he was pretty much trying to do the very same thing that got him killed in "Round 1" (Trying to somehow outperform a much lighter aircraft in a horizontal turn)....If the "TacView" glitch had resulted in your opponents plane disappearing from the screen during the fight or exploding in a fireball or something similar, I would have to concede that you also won the 2nd encounter and were "cheated" by the glitch...However your opponent was still visible to you for the entire 2nd match and you assessed the fight almost perfectly...All except for that part where you assumed he was going to die right after being hit and apparently losing control. I really enjoy your videos and I hope my comment does not come across the wrong way...I sometimes play a far less realistic air combat game called "War Thunder" very poorly and if I tried to fight you in DCS I'm sure I'd lose 100 out of 100 times lol.
great comment. and a solid point. I'd also give him the win on the second round, its my personal belief that if the aircraft continues to be responsive you keep fighting. its not over till the fat lady sings. thanks for your comment buddy.
Alright... Time for my feedback (I see you told a couple things I taught you already) First Fight, your analysis is quite good. The F-15 should not have gone down knowing it built speed before the merge. A speed of Mach 1.0 is okay but usually you don't go over that... If you're too fast, then best option is to go up to save that energy into something you can use afterwards... Second Fight, you tried to stay too much in his 6 o'clock... Your speed was not consistent enough to follow and you should have been more conservative in extending your circle outside of his while maintaining visual. That would have helped to gain speed on your side while trying to find a strategy (like displacing your circle center and find the timing for a snapshot). You obviously made the mistake to think he was dead and while on the ground, your speed was too slow and that played against you... Remember, speed is key and fight to survive! Cheers
This dogfight was realistic at this point that taking damage doesn't always mean crash. this is not defined for tac view. But it is expected that the damaged bird limp to his base, not returning to the battle and hitting the enemy with gun!
I feel round 2 should go to you there. The damage model needs work. I know F-15s can fly with one wing but there's no way it should remain maneuverable enough to out turn you. And being on fire that long? The whole plane should be engulfed in that time.
Disagree. A bit. If it was a clean through and through, the wing will not disintegrate. As long as a structural member was not severed, it will only lose a little sheet metal. The wing also would not have stayed burning. Those wings are segmented, with valves that shut if it loses pressure. The fuel in that compartment burns off in 30 seconds. The damage model is off, but only because the wing kept burning.
@@mandoreforger6999 It's not just going to go straight through though. The MiG-29 carries 30mm high explosive incendiary and armor piercing tracer. 2-3 of those high explosive rounds are going to do enough damage to cause the wing to fall off (from where they hit and outward anyway). If not straight away then when it pulls any sort of G or does anything but very slow speeds.
Xei armor piecing round will not do much damage at all, reason being in that it is a shaped charge round which will create a jet of hot molten metal. It will slice right through with little damage. An HE round is entirely dependent upon the relative velocity between the aircraft and the round. There is a slight delay (milliseconds) to allow the round to embed into the airframe. These rounds are designed with the assumption that the shots will be fired from behind the aircraft and do not explode on impact. If the shot hits the wing at a closing velocity (rather than chasing) it will indeed punch right through the wing before exploding. The slight delayed fuse generally assures a kill, unless fired from front or above and through the wing. It was a through and through punch hole, no more.
great video but next time you should do 1v1 bfm with a plane that has a PFM. I dont believe it'll matter soon tho apparently they're updating the flight model Oct.10th.. We'll see, anywho just a little criticism because i know how broken the mig can be in the right hands
You win with better tactics, but in shooting they always tell you to follow through the shot. Don’t get off like a rookie cop. I hate video game but this is interesting
Hi, is it possible in TackView to activate the boresight indicator? Like a line that shows where the planes' noses are pointing?? That would be quite helpful.
I credit him with the kill. If he managed to fly the plane shoot you down then he got the kill. Unless the plane ended up totaled afterwards, you didn't get a kill. Regardless I would say you lost the 2nd match rather you got the kill or not. He could bail while you smacked in to the ground.
Fantastic video; Round 2 was very entertaining, and the win goes to Maximus. The F-15 is pretty tough. This story is a bit folklore-ish by now, but still relevant IMO. www.migflug.com/jetflights/f-15-lands-with-one-wing.html
man, good fight, but in the 2nd round, you trusted yourself, thinking that he was already out of combat, I think you should have finished it and not let it recover, because although in a real combat I doubted that he could fight back, even so there are records of an F-15, which lost a wing, and at least could continue flying until it landed at its base. but anyway, good lesson.
Regardless from what the tacview says. In the second round, from a physics stand point, it's impossible to recover from such a dive and the way he recovered his speed doesn't make any sense.. to me it looked like a glitch. I give the win to you.
in the end his pilot is the one going home to plow his wife, therefore he won. Your pilot became a russian pancake to serve as an example as to how many wings american fighters need. its only 1 btw
It would be interesting to see a dogfight between a WW2 fighter and a more modern jet. I realise that the jet has such a colossal energy advantage that it should amost certainly win, but there could still be some surprises.
I never see the F-15 go vertical at the merge despite the plane's very good thrust to weight ratio and it appears to put him defensive almost immediately..Is that a tactic unique to him, I wonder? Or is the MiG the better machine in a vertical rolling scissors?
I've got an question about this dog-fight - the moment at 2nd fight, at about 7000-8000m You guys are in down spiral, and so on to ground. BUT, what will happen, if You would break this spiral (having ca 250-300knts) and going with scissors? Wouldn't it give You more chance to overtake him at higher altitude? I' not an expert, just asking...
Of course the Mig-29 has an automatic firing system. When the radar or IRST calculates the correct time to fire it does so. Apparently it's extremely effective. Not much fun in a game, but there you go...
I've been wondering if that's a bug of TacView, seems like it counts any hit as a kill regardless of damage state. Between this one and that missile that failed to kill you awhile back, I'm beginning to wonder how reliable it is for instances like this where a hit isn't a kill shot.
That's not true. A few videos back, GS hit an enemy plane with guns and it registered hits when GS hit the enemy non-fatally, not kills. Here, GS took off a wing, which is something a plane needs to fly - and thus TacView labelled it as a kill.
Love the F-15, the Mig 29 is a sexy looking plane too. It's as if the F-15 and F-16 had a child. Why is it that fighter jets don't have rear facing guns/missiles?
I honestly had a lot of issues with that myself, then I hit up the user files section on ED website and downloaded some trackir profiles. try them and see what you like most. make u have precision mode on as well. I dont think I have enough knowledge on the topic to make a video about it
Good suggestion. I will give that a try. As you can see, I am new with the planes in DCS. I usually fly helicopters in DCS. Flying planes present a whole new set of skill to develop. It is like starting all over again. I really like your videos.
How much bigger is F15 internal fuel capacity? Your Mig was out of fuel at the beginning of the 2nd turning fight. F15 had been draining fuel for at least 2 minutes. Not sure what else would have continued to burn if it wasn't fuel.
Good question. I just bought a TM warthog and am still hopelessly lost. Binding tutorials don’t seem to help. DCS never seems to save my choices, it’s so frustrating :( No doubt I’m being stupid though. GS videos are awesome though.
Going to be a lot more fun after Wednesday and the updated MiG-29 with PFM.
looking forward to it matt. thanks for all u guys do over there.

TacView doesn't track much in the way of damage effects. It's pretty low fidelity in that regard.
would have to disagree. for the game yes, f15 wins that round, though it would have been done for if not a game.
Me too. I think F-15C has won 2nd round. But I think that most of the time advantage was on your's MiG side.
here are 2 mistakes i see on the 2nd round. the first mistake was made by your opponent when he disengaged the spiral. he did not notice the difference in speeds and kept circling at mach 1+ making it easy for you to stay inside his turn. had he made a wide and not-too-steep turning climb with that energy difference he could have positioned himself high and out of your reach and could engage at will.

Yes but in reality with a wing that damaged and most parts of it missing, the F15 wouldn't be able to maneuver like it did.
Aria A.S Do you have proof if that? Or are you just saying it because it’s how you feel?

Credit to both pilot.. You will never know your opponent until you saw his plane crash..
Maximus is Pixy confirmed.
It's your win. I saw it the first time.
Alright... Time for my feedback (I see you told a couple things I taught you already)
First Fight, your analysis is quite good.
Cheers
Thanks man, and yes youre right, lack speed is deff what got me killed the 2nd time. such a shame too I felt so robbed lol
Great insight lol I'm assuming this one based on your REAL life experience as a fighter pilot? Lol
Exactly
Id still give him the win, BUT thats an interesting view point. I never thought of it like that.
Disagree.
We'll see, anywho just a little criticism because i know how broken the mig can be in the right hands
well, rest assured its not in the right hands haha. I been flying the mig for like a week tops.
According to paranormal belief any violent death may cause a haunting, remarkably seldom are they thought to be this instantaneous tho.
can you do F-16 vs MiG-29 guns only PvP? I would like to see how a falcon would perform in a turning fight with the fulcrum
In the second round you're dead. If you don't see him eject or crash into the ground he is not dead. Stay in the fight.
You win with better tactics, but in shooting they always tell you to follow through the shot. Don’t get off like a rookie cop. I hate video game but this is interesting
Great videos,. Can you do one with Saab Grippen?
You win mate ..there was clearly fire on his wing
I love this channel
At 14:40, he just yanked that high G turn and gun bunnied you mate.
lol ya it still hurts mate
You won the battle the ghost won the war!
That was sneaky af
Hi, is it possible in TackView to activate the boresight indicator? Like a line that shows where the planes' noses are pointing?? That would be quite helpful.
we can call it the possum strategy: faking your on dead
Great vid 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks buddy glad you liked it
Gotta spam them Emojis
Growling Sidewinder as always
George George quality content, screams for its recognition
Your pilot became a russian pancake to serve as an example as to how many wings american fighters need.
its only 1 btw
ahhaha
"Plow his wife"......AND his girlfriends.....
In the 13:00 I would have tried to use the rudder to cut his turn from below, or get an unplanned disassembly against the ground...
American technology man, can't win with that! *America! F*** Yeah!* in the background
Everyone knows wings are an optional extra on the f15. It’s perfectly capable of flying without them.
Just curious how to you get your recording to capture the full screen? Mine only captures in a small window in the center of the screen.
It would be interesting to see a dogfight between a WW2 fighter and a more modern jet.
I realise that the jet has such a colossal energy advantage that it should amost certainly win, but there could still be some surprises.
The jet would hold the energy advantage all the time. It can keep making passes at its leisure.
wow great vid. Know i understand about air warefare. I Think F15 won the last round GG/ Magnus
Your opponents strategy was that he didn't have one. probably. XD
Not much fun in a game, but there you go...
what video capture software do you use to do your videos?, I mean recording DCS. thanks a lot!
im just using the Nvidea shadow play software.
Do you play with TrackIR or a vr headset? Something else?
trackir5 mate
I've been wondering if that's a bug of TacView, seems like it counts any hit as a kill regardless of damage state. Between this one and that missile that failed to kill you awhile back, I'm beginning to wonder how reliable it is for instances like this where a hit isn't a kill shot.
That's not true. A few videos back, GS hit an enemy plane with guns and it registered hits when GS hit the enemy non-fatally, not kills.
Here, GS took off a wing, which is something a plane needs to fly - and thus TacView labelled it as a kill.
yes the bf109 vs spitfire one, you can see hits landing on the spit, and tacview doesnt register it as a kill.
Love the F-15, the Mig 29 is a sexy looking plane too. It's as if the F-15 and F-16 had a child. Why is it that fighter jets don't have rear facing guns/missiles?
Ghost kill. Epic Eagle strikes again. WTF. 😂😂😂😂
He only wins if he could land with the damage. Otherwise it’s a draw?
ahahh ur harsh jeff. lets just give him the W on this one, after all hes still flying and im a crater....
Growling Sidewinder fair. He wins. It was over Dubai so it’s better for him to eject outside city limits in friendly territory :).
Can you do a short video on how to setup Track IR for the best use in DCS. I have a very hard time getting visuals on planes when I play DCS.
I really like your videos.
thanks man I appreciate that, thanks for ur support.
Fight to the 'actual' death ;)
"Round draw")) - lol just a joke)) 2nd round on him though, there was a pretty good acting at the end)
You lose bro, he still maintained control of his aircraft.
fair enough mate
15:39
So, have you found a reason to fight yet? Buddy.
(Spanish guitar intensifies)
P-51 vs A-10? Guns only? Or whatever seems fair.
When you were both spiralling downwards and you were trying to bleed off energy to catch his 6 o'clock would a mirage 2000 been better in doing this?
wish I could answer this, but I don't know a whole lot about the capability of the mirage
no question: the F15 won round 2.....you died, and he didn't......
fair point mate
How much bigger is F15 internal fuel capacity? Your Mig was out of fuel at the beginning of the 2nd turning fight. F15 had been draining fuel for at least 2 minutes. Not sure what else would have continued to burn if it wasn't fuel.
What version of the F15?
I have to say..he had a hell of a move diving after being hit..but if it showed him dead..I would have to say u won
F-16 vs MIG-29 next???
You win with better tactics, but in shooting they always tell you to follow through the shot. Don’t get off like a rookie cop.
What flight stick do you guys use?
Good question. I just bought a TM warthog and am still hopelessly lost. Binding tutorials don’t seem to help. DCS never seems to save my choices, it’s so frustrating :( No doubt I’m being stupid though. GS videos are awesome though.
I use the thrustmaster 16000M
