I saw Reagan Youth pretty much every time they played CBs during 1983, and 84 up until the time Dave kinda stopped the show to help pick me up off the floor in front of the stage since I was pretty drunk. Dave kinda came down on me pretty hard but in retrospect that's exactly what I needed. A few years later, I'm not sure when but it was definitely later, maybe late 80s I don't know, we crossed paths outside of Washington Sq Park, and I could not believe it, Dave called my attention, he remembered who I was and was wondering how I was doing and gave me a card inviting me to a free vegetarian dinner in Brooklyn hosted by the Hari Krishna Center. It's possible this might even have been in the early 90s I don't know but what I do know was that Dave changed, he had a real far away look in his eyes, and while he did not have dreads, maybe we crossed paths after he came out of the hospital??? Either way I felt very sad for him, but what could I do ??
He was Dave Insurgent from one of the most important bands ever, while I was a nobody as far as the scene went.
In retrospect I should have helped him but what could I have done, we were all so young back then...
You know, I thought he committed suicide by hanging himself after his girlfriends murder and his mother's unfortunate tragic end, at least that's what Mike T from Adam 12 told me over the phone right after he found out.
It had to have been horrible for his father.
I'd like to know what happened to the House Of God tapes, because that stuff needs to be heard and given a proper release....
Good video, makes me feel a little sad and nostalgic at the same time, especially while I'm now living out here in Connecticut.
Dave was really something. He truly cared about the people.
I think it's wrong to condemn a scene even if there were numerous drug casualties, I mean I was a part of the 1980s NYHC scene, believe me it was not an easy time for anyone, and anyone who says it was either never was there or is lying.
Oh yeah, I still have that card Dave gave me all those years ago, it's in a place of honor.
I'll always wish I took him up on his kind and generous offer, as that would have been around the same time I either was thinking about becoming a vegetarian, or in fact had become one.
R.I.P. Dave.... you'll always be alive within my heart.

Was tough times back then, you'd need to have been there to completely understand the vibe.
I'm mid 50s and sometimes I'll see myself as a young man in these old videos and I feel for the young ones as they have absolutely nothing in the way of subculture.
      Subculture saved many people.

Thank you for uploading! Reagan Youth is in my top five favorite bands of all time. Dave Insurgent had a voice that was angry, young, scary and near perfect in terms of young punk bands from the 1980s. Ive tried to listen to other bands in hopes of finding one as intriguing as Reagan Youth but there's just no comparison. His voice conveyed the anger and urgency that accommodated most kids growing up during those times. His story is so unbelievably sad that even if just variable was different he still would have had a world of misfortune. In such a short amount of time he lost two people he cared about more than anything and I believe he knew he wouldn't go on much longer. RIP Dave. You were a legend ill always be a fan❤

Upshot: The parents were too old and traumatized from their own experiences to raise their son whom they had late in life. Son then grows up to be a spoiled idiot with possible personality or spectrum disorders and definite drug addictions that brought them nothing but grief. Being in the concrete jungle of NYC probably didn't help things either. But hey, between the used needles and nodding off he made a couple of albums for x-sub-genre of music. So by the estimation of the same society he railed against, he was _productive._ Or more correctly, _useful_ in the sense Lenin meant.

seems disrespectful and another look at it was he wrote some of the best rock lyrics of all time, was not selfish as a communist, and unfortunately succumbed to drug addiction, which happens to a lot of folks that experience childhood trauma (not saying that's his case), or mental health issues like schizophrenia (not saying he had that either, but it does share personality characteristics with artists). Your tone seems disrespectful, which is hella lame because his lyrics are some of the best of all time - super original and deep and insightful - something we see from people who are already operating/struggling on the fringe. I do not see how a spoiled brat would ever even think about explaining how peace an anarchy cooperate.
