I expected you to go "Ah-ha, you lose now! Because Mystical Elf has been singing a prayer for the last 5 turns! This prayer allows me to destroy all your monsters!"
Think 10 packs was probably TOO restrictive on an already super restrictive challenge. Would be fun to see that one on the wheel again, but with a bit more packs for fun rng.
@@JonaGDP there is a difference. Some parts of this wheel let you make a constructed deck vs some force you to draft. Making a draft deck be better than constructed is very, very hard.
Today is an important lesson. 10 or less packs of anything is basically trying to beat a constructed deck in Masochist mode, except its actually /worse/ than Masochist due to the restricted card pool packs have. Definitely remove anything less than 15-20 Packs. Its just a "You lose" button on the wheel when the opponent can pretty much build constructed at least in terms of spell/traps. You still did your best lol, it was an amazing watch still, the Sphynx dream was real. Mirage Dragon is so sad ;;
Couple suggestions for this, maybe do a overall wheel that will decide the type of challenge for the episode for both players, example only x-level only, pulled from x pack, x-attribute and so on you then go to the sub wheel where each player will find out what specific sub category they get if it's levels one player gets 4s the other gets 5s. this should hopefully keep games slightly more even without removing the random elements. Another suggestion is to make any pulled pack selection 1 state the pack to be more clear, but also up it to 24 packs the RNG is so high at least a booster box amount may let you access some of the strats the pack itself was designed to contain or support, and maybe implement a duel links style limit 1 like if certain cards are showing up to much or are super powerful maybe add them to the "limit 1" pool so for example if you want yo use graceful that uses up your single limit 1 pick so you can say take gravity bind. but overall keep up the work on the series it's interesting to watch.
I think if you only have to use monsters from the packs will really help the random pack wheels so you can still have the staple spells or just more packs in general.
If I could throw out a suggestion here. The two wheel idea is great. I would suggest you do one wheel together that determines how the episode will go. For example the first wheel has Level Limit, Type restriction, rarity restriction, draft restriction. Or something along those lines where you can still have the horrible slices like 10 packs of a set and the crazy ones like only dark monsters but they wouldn’t have to compete with eachother. I think it would keep the power level similar between each decks while still able to have a lot of variety. Or perhaps having the restriction where spells and traps have to coordinate with your restriction, for example, if you’re limited to only level 3 monsters then you can play gravity bind/level limit. Or only winds, you can play wind equips or the traps associated with wind monsters. It could be a cool variation on the current rule set to prevent power spells from kind of determining a lot of future games.
I feel with the Dragon-Type only challenge it should also restrict people from using ONLY Dragon support cards or cards with Dragons on the art... Gage's engine was MORE staples then dragons...
Maybe I'm tripping but I would have thought that opening up only Invasion of Chaos would have been the right move instead of Dark Beginnings. Lots of big beat sticks and 2k walls, plus Sorc and BLS are always a plus.
Noooo! You should have opened Invasion of Chaos! It's got Smashing Ground, Zero Gravity, Compulse, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, Chaos Sorcerer, a bunch of Burn options, Berzerk Gorrila, 1900 attackers, 1 tribute beaters, Gigantes, Prickle Fairy (and Lord Poison), Hyper Hammerhead, Gale Lizard, A Hero Emerges, Enraged Battle Ox, Dark Driceratops, Stumbling, Energy Drain, Destruction Ring, Chaos Rider Gustaph, Trap Jammer, etc. And that's not counting a ton of other high rarity cards. But yeah, it should be 15 packs, and if you pull a card that's banned or not in Master Duel, you get to duplicate one of your other pulls.
The multiple wheel option would be good with a re-spin mechanic. Like you can respin once and you decide whether its for the category wheel (i,e, Deck with only level___) or the wheel that specificies the limitation (Level 2s, Level 5s, etc)
I think a way to make this more fair is have the first wheel decide for both players, for example: (open packs, choose type, choose atrribute, choose level etc), then the second wheel both players spin their own wheel and the wheel will just have all of what was spun on the first wheel. So as an example, Ruxin and his guest spin the 1st wheel together, lets say they get choose type, both players then spin the second wheel individually and this wheel will contain all the types.
I mean, any wheel option that has a blanket statement like, "Dragon-Type only" should probably lead to a different wheel that spins for a Spell/Trap restriction too.
I would do 2 wheel spins. First would be the theme that both players have to do (level restriction, 1 type/attribute only, X packs, etc.). Then you and the other player can spin another wheel associated to the theme, and do that separate from each other to keep it a bit hidden still.
Love the series and great guest on. Wheel needs balancing, though IMO. Maybe tier it from 1 - 5 1 being terrible meme spins, 5 being decent GOAT structure. Then spin at the beginning to see what tier you BOTH spin at.
I think the pack restriction would be way more interesting if both players had it. They could play with different packs but youre effectively playing a limited format deck vs a constructed deck and it generally wont turn out great for the limited player.
Did you decide against using stein because the lack of a good fusion pool? I get St. Joan isn't the best payoff, but I think it would've been better than some things since card quality was on the lower side.
Imma be real, I love that format, but I have a suggestion for future deck building. If someone gets a type deck, they also have to match their backrow cards with that type. Makes it a bit easy to go with just staple cards, next to the type you have to play
@@AshwinSelvakumar It has Compulse, Smashing Ground, Zero Gravity, Destruction Ring, Dark Mirror Force, Dimension Fusion, D.D. Designator, Trap Jammer, Chaos End, Yellow Luster Shield, A Hero Emerges, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell and Energy Drain. That's plenty enough in a limited environement.
Maybe a restriction where you have to pull 10 packs, but you get a playset of every card you pull would be a neat addition to the wheel? 'Cause you did get some good 1-ofs.
This needs to be balanced, you are telling me that Gage has access to the entire card pool of goat format for dragons and you are on basically a masochist deck? Dude idk.
Maybe spin 2 wheels and have the first wheel be monster types and the second for packs, backrow can only be from packs and pack monsters are free to use
Perhaps you all should allow the loser of the first round choose to either force their opponent to reroll or ban a card from their deck, or the loser gets to reroll their deck to help balance things out a bit, we could even see more cards/variety to game plans.
Mystical Elf used to be my favourite card, I even used her in my Agents deck - to see her literally saving your a-- for like 10 rounds and holding strong filled my heart with love. I'll never forget you, even if everyone else has! looool Also: Whyyyyy didn't you use Heart of Clear Water on Mystical Elf?!?! Did I miss something??
Loving these videos but it's the spell and traps that are making the difference and the wheel doesn't account for those much, like getting a monster type just gives you free reign on the most powerful spells and traps but pulling from packs is terrible for them.
@@Ruxin34 what I’m saying though is Dark Beginning has a bunch of good cards in high rarity, just not all good cards in low rarity like you said. Has a wide variety in all the rarities
G2 Ruxin said he was going first yet Gage made the first plays when he was supposed to just pass to Ruxin? Uhhhh…could’ve/should’ve just had Gage go first and pass, so Ruxin can still go first and get the card draw like in actual GOAT
Feel like we should randomize the list a few times to reduce bias. Since all "Decks using only" etc. are all together and alphabetized, it makes it somewhat skewed. Otherwise great series.

Should be allowed to use any cards you pull from the packs as well
Also, if you pull a banned card or one that's not in Master Duel you get to duplicate another card (or pick another of that rarity in the same pack?)
I think that 20 would do for a good number balancing the deck, besides... it works with Dziff in his series.

We should bring back the Dark beginning packs option, but make it like 30-50 packs
Game three is one of the best to watch GOAT games I’ve ever watched
Honestly ruxin this is the best content I enjoy considering doing a Edison one as well

Or maybe the staples at 1 copy each. Not every monster type is as good as dragon.
@9:56 just seeing the luster dragons i see where this is going
I really like the pack opening portion of the wheel over the others options. Makes the decks even jankier
