Thanks to SendCutSend.com for sponsoring this series on Laser Cutting with Fusion 360!
Looking to lay your parts flat in Fusion 360 for Laser Cutting?
The Arrange feature, which is not available to those on the free Personal Use license, is a great way to lay your parts flat in preparation for laser cutting. Arrange is only available in the Manufacture workspace, after creating a Manufacture Model. Learn how to quickly nest your Fusion 360 components with the Arrange feature, including the pros and cons to consider.
Lay parts flat with the Personal Use (Hobbyist) Fusion 360 license. Check out the next video in this series, where I demo how to lay your components flat on the same planar surface using Joints in Fusion 360.

Just tried this with a simple tabbed Laser cut box and arrange fails to break the model apart and rotate that parts to a plane?
It says the videos are private...
More playing later and ALL parts to be arranged must be individual components right down to the tiniest support or gusset. Back to Mapboards........
Will the other videos be made public ?
Maybe they are not released yet
So excited for this series!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks for another awesome tutorial. It always amazes me all the different ways that the same task can be completed using different functions in fusion 👍
So true! There are often 3 or 4 ways to achieve similar results. Thanks for watching :)
Great video. BTW, there is an option to turn arrange on in the design workspace in preferences.
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
when you have a nested flat files, how do you export them. I am exporting them but they are not showing up as flat on my other program
There are a couple of different routes depending on your need. You can export from a Sketch by right-clicking and then "Save Sketch as DXF". If you built as a sheet metal component/part, you can generate a flat pattern and export it as a DXF.
You can also place your flat/nested parts on a Drawing sheet in the Drawing workspace, and expert that drawing as either DXF, DWG, or PDF.
Which method are you trying?
Be sure to check "Convert to polylines" in the DXF export dialog.
@@ProductDesignOnline I'm curious how to bring over the flat nested parts from Manufacturing workspace into a drawing?
Great video as always!! I was a little bummed when I tried to use the advanced arrange which allows multiple "envelopes" to automatically be filled with the components, only to find out it is an extension which costs $1600 USD annually...like WHAT!? Come on Autodesk :)
Agreed! The nesting and fabrication extension doesn't provide that much value unless you're a machine shop that really utilizes it... It's too bad they don't have a monthly or small price for the extensions (at the moment).
Any way to unfold a curved loft body to lay flat?
Unfortunately, Fusion 360 cannot unfold curves at this time.
When I click arrange I can select the bodies but there's no option to select a face to arrange onto. The ok is greyed out too. I'm using an education version.
Hmm. The EDU license should have all functionality of the Arrange feature. Could you share a link to a screenshot/photo of what you see?
@@ProductDesignOnline Same, and can't choose multiple bodies. I think the video is outdated, and does not work like it's shown in the video
