    We were taken to Banff on the last day of our visit to Medicine Hat and stopped off on the way at a log cabin restaurant. It was the best food ever and it had it,s very own souvenir shop inside. We bought 2 pairs of sheepskin-lined moccsins which were so lovely and lasted forever. I would absolutely love more of the same.

    Have you considered using a true saddle stich or baseball stitch using a stitching pony? Stitching then becomes decorative and the pony takes some stress off the hands.

    • @simpleshoemaking
      @simpleshoemaking  8 месяцев назад

      Hi, Yes, but with shoe stitching the leather needs to be moved so frequently that I found it frustrating- it would be good if I would make a video to show how it would be done - thanks!

  • @aliciaaustin8373

    Looks great but I would've done a saddle stitch in a grove on the sole if you plan on wearing them outside. Whip stich doesn't protect the thread from being worn down by walking. Just my humble opinion.

      Hi, You have inspired me to put my moccasin-making book for free on my website, there are pattern imperfections that I don't think I'll ever have the time to correct, but you could still learn a lot from it, I hope! Just enlarge patterns on copy machine, make felt mock-ups to customize pattern..

    • @simpleshoemaking
      @simpleshoemaking  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, I made a model shoe over a last with the upper cemented to the sole, then punched holes through upper and sole, took it apart and made patterns for both..I have a video on how to make your own lasts that would work for pattern-making.

      @@simpleshoemaking That's what socks are for. I had hockey skates that had a foam bootie that clamped into a plastic shell. Not nearly as good as leather! Add a wool sock and one or two thin linen or cotton...Voila.
