Hey Heir, thanks for making a video of this. This battle was a lot of fun. To give some insight into the battle, my teammate and mine's strategy was for him to kill the Romans better with me focusing on defense which is why I was just holding the chokepoint leading to the victory point and having more threatening units on the sides to funnel the enemy in and waste their ammo so I could flank with my elephants. Our plan went better than expected we were thinking we were going to get crushed and especially when my lines started to really fall I was telling my teammate to rush over and his timing was great and allowed for the elephants to get in before the Romans could organize in the victory point. Thanks again this battle was a ton of fun.
amazing battle! romans had you in the first half (not gonna lie), but then the epic elephant charge! omg it was brilliant! thanks for a great show! it would almost make an amazing scene in a film or something
Seriously Heir. There is no one quite like you who does these Replay battles like you. The depth in how much you know from the game. The strategies, and the suprising elements are all I need to immediately click on your videos.
Wow, what an amazing battle and loved the late surprise. I know historical isn't your main focus right now but I hope you keep mixing them in periodically as I love seeing them amongst the variety.
I haven't played any Total War games in about 6-8 months because I've been playing baseball sim games but I sure do love Rome 2. To me, Rome 2 was the height of CA.
Hoplites in phalanx get a 5 bonus vs infantry. The hoplite phalanx is really compact, so unless you exploit this by shooting the enemy sword infantry that envelop your phalanx (what else are peltasts for?), or you have a very narrow chokepoint, sword infantry just wins. Phalanx also doesn't work on walls, and hoplites don't get javelins that apparently everyone and their mother suddenly gain if they're armed with swords (hoplites also had swords, CA...). Before they forced the hoplite phalanx into their compact formation, any hoplite with elite spears could beat equal cost sword infantry 1v1, Thorax Hoplites for example used to beat Thorax Swords.
Hey, man, you are the first person I subscribed to on RUclips. A glance to the year of release of Rome 2, it was the Shogun 2 time still, we`re waiting for Rome 2 to be released, yeah like 10 years ago. I wish you all the best!
I was unfamiliar with those Late Roman units, didn't know that there was a DLC for them. now I gotta get that DLC next time it's on sale, damn the Herculanii look badass.
yea they were glitched in, it's worse when you see players with units like oathsworn for factions like rome or kush which are already op. Gamers will be gamers...
Rome 2 has by far the highest playtime for me and really reignited my enthusiasm for strategy games. Unfortunately it feels bland after Three Kingdom and Warhammer. I can only hope that they take what they learned since Rome 2's launch and apply them to Med 3 or whichever historical game is next.
If they take anything from Rome 2 and that period of CA games as a base for the next medieval, I would hope it would be the visceral animation style of those games. The sad truth is the future of historical Total Wars looks incredibly bleek imo if we keep getting visually watered down games that are looking more and more like they're hiring artists who primarily develop mobile games. There's also a slower paced nature to older TW games that just is non existent now both in battles and the world map management. I honestly don't know that I'd want to see what CA today would do to a medieval game but I'd still non the less be willing to hope a little that they had some part of their team who genuinely cares about making that time period authentic.
@@RKGrizz its just a question of style. I feel like 3K has a slightly more cartoony feel than Rome 2. Which is also why I prefer Rome 2 way more over 3K.
@@RKGrizz I think it works for Three Kingdoms, the problem though is CA seems to be locked into that style and it just wouldn't make for an accurate portrayal of the dark ages or ancient times. Troy Total War is a good example of this honestly. It had good ideas with the campaign mechanics which it was borrowing from 3K but the style just watered the whole time period down.
I think historically, hoplites did not have pilla or any javelin to throw. They preferred peltasts and archers more. Anyway in rtw2 hoplites r significantly worse than in irl imo.
I like your plans for using multiple different games for content. I think it will keep things fresh. Do you have any desire to try something in a genre you’re not use to?
I would really love to send you Rome 2 replays, but my pc cannot handle high grafic settings... By the way, at the time of the punic wars, roman armies were still composed of citizen soldiers, they will become fully profesionals later, with the marian reforms
1500 years of technology I suppose? Seriously though, I think those are units that came in much later, because even though I played the game quite a bit myself, I can't remember them either.
Is this a dream?!?! This was a very impressive battle, tactically! Thanks, heir!

Total war series, I'm waiting for you on my channel for short challenges
I enjoyed this battle so much, soon as the Legionary player won the meat grinder I thought it was over and then surprise elephants with the carry.

I still get recommended your Rome 2 battles. You should do the second part of your Carthage faction review. It feels incomplete somehow without it.

Classical era Heir of Carthage video- :D
No "What the crap is going on" opening- D:

That was awesome! Great camera work and commentary too, thanks for this.
I like the unit cards on the left too! It's more stylised and really reminiscent of contemporary artworks.

Love Rome 2. Soon as I fix my Elden Ring addiction I am back to This one.

Christmas has arrived early!
Oh wow really nice to see this!
That was fun to watch, I love these same faction teams

@@TamaHawkLive I don't know if I agree on the visuals being watered down. Three Kingdoms is stunning at times especially with the lighting effects.

Hi Heir I have one problem why did the hoplites in this game forget there own pilla to throw

600+ kills mvp
Heir doing a Rome 2 battle it’s a good day
You are feeling salty today.
ED factions are OP
Ah, Them were the days.. A Barbi charge cross a Soldadas romanas Engineers pontoon bridge ;3

This was an epic battle
Calvary is what destroyed the Roman's heavy infantry and thats what gave Carthage the advantage
Beautiful
I like the old style.
Nice to see Rome!

More Rome 2!! :)
Epic 👌
Every time I watch Rome 2, I remember how much worse unit movement/animations/time to kill is in WH.
I love rome 2
wtf, what year is it?
Bro, wake up, it's 2013.
oooooooooo.................
Roman pikes? Did I miss something?
1500 years of technology I suppose? Seriously though, I think those are units that came in much later, because even though I played the game quite a bit myself, I can't remember them either.
@@angels2online They were from a Late Roman mod, he does mention that the other Roman player was using that faction
I miss TWR2 sieges. TWW2 is a lot of fun, but the sieges are kinda boring...
69th view. NICE!
I like video. Total war series, I'm waiting for you on my channel for short challenges
