The game was meant to be released alongside the Happily Ever After movie, but even though the prototype seems to be finished, it never saw retail shelves. I'm not sure why, but it's a neat look at a "new" old game developed during the NES console's life.
I believe the reason has to do with the fact that the movie was never released in time. This was made in 1990, the year the movie was planned to be released into theaters in the U.S., but it never happened until 1993.
@@jeremyriley1238 i believe Filmation was going bankrupt at the time of the movies original release date. This and the Sega Genesis game probably lost their funding when that happened.
It was a first person maze in the cabin where you can get an item, light up a fireplace, or fight Jason Vorhees, or in a first person cave scene where you can fight Jason’s mother’s head.
The best reason why it wasn't released was because of the copyright infringement suit between Disney(who owns Snow White) and Filmation (who closed its doors after losing the suit). It's pretty much a shame Softel did not reskin this though, everything about this game was oozing with some of the coolest NES games. The backgrounds look like a Tecmo game, the in game sprites look Konami-ish, the gameplay seems to be from some of the best Famicom platformers and aside from the Friday the 13th cabin music, you could have sworn you are playing Xexyz. Still a real shame though....
"(who owns Snow White)" Except they don't. All the fairy tales Disney adapted are in public domain (hence why Filmation had plans to do their own fairy tale adaptations). "(who closed its doors after losing the suit)." Incorrect. The lawsuit was filed in 1985 and was settled in 1987 and the studio was in business for two more years. The actual reason why Filmation shut down is because L'Oreal bought the studio (all they wanted is to get their hands on Filmations library of cartoons with zero intent on making new stuff).
Grimbot2 My apologies. Thinking about it now, It had mistaken it for the Golden film, Aladdin (which Disney lost the suit). I still think the game was cancelled after the company closed, though. Again, my apologies.
I don't think it was due to the legal issues, since Imagitec developed and released the SNES, which was released a few years after this no less. Could be they thought the game wouldn't sell too well.
The Reason because there is the Music of Friday the 13th in this Game is Because this Game Music was Composed by Hirohiko Takayama and it was Developed by Atlus, not Pack-In-Video. Its not an Awesome Game, but its better than literally almost every Sofel game out there.
Ahahaha, I know you aren't a fan, but I really gotta say that I do love Casino Kid and Wall Street Kid. Dragon Fighter was really awesome too (even if it was developed by Natsume)
NintendoComplete Dragon Fighter was the Only Good Game because it was Developed by Natsume, a company who made literally only one bad game literally a Perfect Track Record.
Pack-In-Video (now Marvelous Interactive) was not an actual game developer; they were a multimedia publisher. There has been speculation on who actually developed this game - either Atlus or Sanritsu.
@@curleed85 Pack-In-Video did in fact develop video games, but most of the time, they just published games. They developed games such as Thunderbirds, Rambo, and Die Hard on the NES.
There were a some games that shared music on the NES, to be fair. The one I remember most is the song that got used in both Rygar (talking to the Indra) and Jekyll and Hyde (the intro).
Indora no Hikari and Superman also, the overworld theme of InH is the main theme of Superman - the latter obviously only came out in Japan though, before Superman. :) There are likely more examples of that as well...
the average playthrough of mickey mousecapade is about 18-20 mins. this game fits the bill, it most definitely could have been released reskinned as another game (with a few bits of polishing up). not bad at all. i'd have bought it face value if it did release back in the day as happily ever after. so sad..

wow. Snow White is kickin' ass! this is better then the movie.
I agree
Whoa, the music at 5:44 sounds like one of the songs from the Friday the 13th NES game!
Nex Hahaha it absolutely is
Pack-in Video is very likely behind both games
CarozQH Both Games were Developed by Atlus, not Pack-In-Video.
Same composer, or same developer but the composer are being lazy to make a cave theme so they put the Friday 13 theme to this game, or what?

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that, I hadn't even considered that that might be the case.

Pretty sure the game got a snes release instead

This looks surprisingly good! With the theme it has I think it'd be hard to find an audience though, had it been released maybe
I never played this game but watched the movie many times. It's a bizarre film truly. Lord Maliss still scares me to this day.
Very nice graphics
The map screen music almost sounds like an upbeat version of the music from Friday the 13th.
i keep singing go go power rangers when i hear the first four bars of the music lol
The Friday the 13th music indicates that it was not finished, also can't shake the feeling that there was suppose to be more than 4 levels somehow...

The music and sounds remind me of Xexyz
It is the same composer, his name is Hirohiko Takayama.
And he also composed the music for Friday the 13th for the NES as well. Hence why you hear the cabin theme... @@Lion-EXE
The music sounds like it's from an Atlus game...
Que buenos gráficos tiene éste juego
Y que entretenido lástima que tenga pocos niveles👍

There is only one mistake this game has: One of the Dwarfelles is named Sunny instead of Sunburn.
I like the movie.
Better in french dub too
Will be a nice game.
Ninja Gaiden for girls.
Should have livestreamed this. I also wonder who leaked the game?
Why isn't that Snow White saying "Thank you" an ongoing since forever meme? Too underground I guess haha.
i like that game is funny nintendocomplete
Is there anyway to play this game?
The movie was terrible, but this wasn't half bad, was it?
It was.

So if the NES game was never released than whomever is selling it on eBay currently is fake? Or did the rom dump become public domain?
I'd guess someone is selling unauthorized reproductions.
