Great video. My views - I spend 3 years living and working in Qatar: 1. It is easier to save lots of money if you are single with no kids, unless you are in a senior, high paid position. 2. It's not easy to do, but try to do your homework on your pay and benefits package and work out what that actually means - if you have kids, nursery and school can be expensive. The company I worked for, the education allowance had not changed in years and only covered 1/3 of the cost and could only be claimed from age 5. My colleague had 2 pre-schoolers and paid a small fortune for them to have little more than supervised play. Different companies have different packages and some pay far more than others. 3. Oil and gas remain the main economic drivers and the cost of living is pegged to the salaries of the oil and gas sector, you can live very frugally, but you can also be tempted to spend, spend, spend. If you leave your family at home, and send money home, it can be tempting for them to spend your money for you. 4. Your family have to be supportive. If your spouse is not on board working overseas (or being together overseas) can create tensions. 5. Have an exit strategy from Day 1. Whether it is a certain amount of money in the bank or a goal of getting your kids to a certain stage in education, you need to have a plan and work toward achieving it. 6. Buy second hand furniture for your villa or apartment - there are always people leaving and if you buy new, you will lose money when you leave after a few years. When I left, I sold all my furniture, a running machine, home gym, TV, washing machine etc for about a third of what I paid for them. In the end, I practically gave away some of my stuff to work colleagues. 7. You will meet some great people from all over the world. If you want to travel,Qatar is well placed to visit Europe, Africa and Asia and Qatar Airways is a great airline. 10. There are downsides - a lot of air pollution, especially in Doha and you have to abide by the rules, remember that you are a guest in someone else's country, so make sure that you are a really good ambassador for your own. I found the driving quite scary and have never had so many fender-benders in such a short space of time. Driving in the old industrial area was a case of 'every man for himself'. I am glad that I worked in Qatar, it was a great experience, but 3 years was enough for me. I was glad to return home to a cooler climate, with more sensible driving and the ability to buy reasonably priced alcohol from a supermarket. Most interesting is the journey it has set my younger stepdaughter on - she has a desire to see the world, can speak Arabic and is fascinated by other cultures - before living in Qatar she had a very closed-minded world view.

I actually want to relocate move their - with my spouse just to raise family and yes it's not perfect in any way- and racism and discrimination and political instability is rife in UAE countries however, muslim countries arre more family orientated and stress free and a more better quality of life, pleasant life in comparison to the western countries just work and work and stress no sun no family life or faith, stressful family unhappy family life is well! Your complaining about routine work life their- come to the UK and you will find out a stressful/ pressure work life! Plus depression and mental illnesses and no sun! There is plenty to do in Qatar, I think you have to expand your horizon. Obviously Qatar is a very small country hence you may cover a substantial amount of what the country has to offer in a relatively short period of time due to its size thus giving you the illusion that there isn't much to do.. The fact that you can't do much walking outdoors also adds to that illusion. Saying that it is depressing is a matter of prospective, I have American friends that don't want leave Qatar, so its only depressing because its what you make it to be. The only thing qatar lacks is greenery that's it.. Qatar is not a cheap country to live in, like Singapore or Switzerland, so you won't be able to enjoy it to the fullest if your not willing to spend.

Yes they can wear their natural hair. Several factors call for use of wigs/weaves etc. Some companies have a dress code - example cabin crew, cruise ship or front office hospitality staff may not be allowed locs, braids beyond a certain length etc. Often because they may wear a hat (no updo cornrows) and one must be practical. Secondly due to the weather in the entire region - hot, humid and sandy, the word PROTECTIVE for hair styles take proper meaning because natural hair needs protection form sun and sand alike. So there are no country rules pertaining to Afro hair but there are certainly corporate rules that may govern hair styles. Much like the military. Many service women and men we meet from US forces can only wear certain styles during holidays but never on duty.

Hmmm this actually apply to all countries all around the world, I went to the US, UK, NL etc and i didn’t feel secure cuz of the way ppl treated me. For example, if anything wrong happens I would be the first person to be blamed cuz I’m brown and Muslim. You shouldn’t judge a country until you live there and be part of the community. Your media makes my region seems very bad place ( which isn’t) and believe it’s the same here. Many of my foreign colleagues said that it’s easier to have a family here in Qatar cuz the kids are has lower % to be exposed to drugs and alcohol.

Great video. My views - I spend 3 years living and working in Qatar:
1. It is easier to save lots of money if you are single with no kids, unless you are in a senior, high paid position.
2. It's not easy to do, but try to do your homework on your pay and benefits package and work out what that actually means - if you have kids, nursery and school can be expensive. The company I worked for, the education allowance had not changed in years and only covered 1/3 of the cost and could only be claimed from age 5. My colleague had 2 pre-schoolers and paid a small fortune for them to have little more than supervised play. Different companies have different packages and some pay far more than others.
3. Oil and gas remain the main economic drivers and the cost of living is pegged to the salaries of the oil and gas sector, you can live very frugally, but you can also be tempted to spend, spend, spend. If you leave your family at home, and send money home, it can be tempting for them to spend your money for you.
4. Your family have to be supportive. If your spouse is not on board working overseas (or being together overseas) can create tensions.
5. Have an exit strategy from Day 1. Whether it is a certain amount of money in the bank or a goal of getting your kids to a certain stage in education, you need to have a plan and work toward achieving it.
6. Buy second hand furniture for your villa or apartment - there are always people leaving and if you buy new, you will lose money when you leave after a few years. When I left, I sold all my furniture, a running machine, home gym, TV, washing machine etc for about a third of what I paid for them. In the end, I practically gave away some of my stuff to work colleagues.
7. You will meet some great people from all over the world. I am still in touch with many of them; South Africans, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Egyptians, Phillipines, Tunisians. As always, it is the people that really make an experience.
8. There are some great events - Diamond League athletics, masters golf tournaments, handball, moto GP, live concerts (and of course the upcoming World Cup 2022).
9. Nobody does hospitality quite like the Middle East and the hotels and restaurants are amazing. There is nothing better than having a minibreak at a 5* hotel every couple of months. If you want to travel,Qatar is well placed to visit Europe, Africa and Asia and Qatar Airways is a great airline.
10. There are downsides - a lot of air pollution, especially in Doha and you have to abide by the rules, remember that you are a guest in someone else's country, so make sure that you are a really good ambassador for your own. I found the driving quite scary and have never had so many fender-benders in such a short space of time. Driving in the old industrial area was a case of 'every man for himself'.
I am glad that I worked in Qatar, it was a great experience, but 3 years was enough for me. I was glad to return home to a cooler climate, with more sensible driving and the ability to buy reasonably priced alcohol from a supermarket. Most interesting is the journey it has set my younger stepdaughter on - she has a desire to see the world, can speak Arabic and is fascinated by other cultures - before living in Qatar she had a very closed-minded world view.

Locals and expatriates are very co operative mostly . I do not mean always and everyone If Unluckily any one is garbed by specially a local Sponcer ( A Greedy and Bad Nature Sponcer not everyone. ) The victim is . Lost his job etc.
There is a big expates community working and living in haw-full condition. High salaried may have much better situation.
Well I can never forget the period and I thank to all of my friends , co workers and some locals I happen to meet.

I actually want to relocate move their - with my spouse just to raise family and yes it's not perfect in any way- and racism and discrimination and political instability is rife in UAE countries however, muslim countries arre more family orientated and stress free and a more better quality of life, pleasant life in comparison to the western countries just work and work and stress no sun no family life or faith, stressful family unhappy family life is well! Your complaining about routine work life their- come to the UK and you will find out a stressful/ pressure work life! Plus depression and mental illnesses and no sun! Coldness & darkness and gloominess and cold and wet constant rain! Never any sun!

There is plenty to do in Qatar, I think you have to expand your horizon. Obviously Qatar is a very small country hence you may cover a substantial amount of what the country has to offer in a relatively short period of time due to its size thus giving you the illusion that there isn't much to do.. The fact that you can't do much walking outdoors also adds to that illusion. Saying that it is depressing is a matter of prospective, I have American friends that don't want leave Qatar, so its only depressing because its what you make it to be. The only thing qatar lacks is greenery that's it.. Qatar is not a cheap country to live in, like Singapore or Switzerland, so you won't be able to enjoy it to the fullest if your not willing to spend.

Are Black women not allowed to wear their natural coily curly hair in public and is wearing straight European hair styles the standard of beauty in Qatar? In the United States companies were firing or discipling Black women for their natural hair and In 2019 New York and California had to pass non-discrimination laws allowing Black women to wear their natural hair I was wondering if it's the same in Qatar. Yes they can wear their natural hair. Several factors call for use of wigs/weaves etc. Some companies have a dress code - example cabin crew, cruise ship or front office hospitality staff may not be allowed locs, braids beyond a certain length etc. Often because they may wear a hat (no updo cornrows) and one must be practical.
Secondly due to the weather in the entire region - hot, humid and sandy, the word PROTECTIVE for hair styles take proper meaning because natural hair needs protection form sun and sand alike.
So there are no country rules pertaining to Afro hair but there are certainly corporate rules that may govern hair styles. Much like the military. Many service women and men we meet from US forces can only wear certain styles during holidays but never on duty.

Hmmm this actually apply to all countries all around the world, I went to the US, UK, NL etc and i didn’t feel secure cuz of the way ppl treated me. For example, if anything wrong happens I would be the first person to be blamed cuz I’m brown and Muslim. You shouldn’t judge a country until you live there and be part of the community. Your media makes my region seems very bad place ( which isn’t) and believe it’s the same here. Many of my foreign colleagues said that it’s easier to have a family here in Qatar cuz the kids are has lower % to be exposed to drugs and alcohol.
