This is actually not a band but the solo project of Kamijo, who is the vocalist of the band Versailles. His voice and signing style has changed quite a bit throughout his career and he also seems to change it up every now and then for different songs. To stop himself becoming bored with his incredible talent I assume :D If you want to make a quick comparison, listen to a song Fuyu Tokyo by Lareine, then Masquerade by Versailles and then Eye of Providence by Kamijo for example. The difference in his voice is massive. His style of music has changed over time too, his solo project is a bit less epic rock opera than Versailles for example and a bit more... theatrical pop rock with a a lot of metal and bit of almost everything else thrown in. I absolutely adore everything this man has ever done but I can understand that not everyone who likes Versailles is going to like his solo work. Although one thing that has stayed constant is his ability to put an incredible amount of emotion into a song. However I agree with your assessment that this particular performance was not the best example of that.
