Thank you for uploading this !
So funny, I just uploaded a video on how I personally use Windows Magnifier on my Windows 7, and now I find this! I'll link to your video for people using Windows 10 :-)
Thanks I learned a few new keyboard shortcuts. You know how much I love those lol.
Hey Melissa! Glad that you got something from it! and I LOVE keyboard shortcuts too! :D They're awesome and just make life so much easier.
@@LiveAccessible I tried the invert colors shortcuttoday but there is an application on my computer that has the same quick access shortcut. So it doesn't work for me🙁
can you just go out tab invert the colors and then I'll tub again to go back to that program? Or is it a systemic program? Can you change the shortcut key for that program? I don't think you can for Windows magnifier... Sorry! ☹️
@@LiveAccessible I'm going to look into changing the shortcut for the program if it will let me. It is for our lab software at work so I'm not sure if it will let me. But I'll let you know
I am so glad windows magnifier has improved so much over the last several years. I don’t even remember the last time I’ve had to deal with Zoom text.
Hey jvr! That's really funny because I actually use both of them. I actually really like zoomtext except that sometimes it can be a little bit overpowering for my computer and makes things slow, however, there are a lot of tools that I really liked from zoomtext. I love the recorder and the background reader. I also really like the inverting brightness instead of inverting the colors because it keeps the same general color and just makes it easier on the eyes. There's also something about the control of the mouse that zoomtext does that I find a lot easier to handle than using Windows magnifier. however! A lot of the time zoomtext does crash or it just doesn't work or something else happens and I want to throw it out the window. Lol. I'm just glad we have all these options! ☺️
Great video!
I used ZoomText a long time but due to performance and feature issues i switched to Windows magnifier. Great that Microsoft improve it continuously. One feature i am still missing is the possibility to use full screen magnification on my desktop and provide a non-magnified screen to others e..g. when doing a presentation or webmeeting with screen sharing.
hi there! I actually use both zoomtext and windows magnifier. There are a lot of features that I like on zoom text like the recorder and the background reader and the invert brightness feature that they have. They do have performance issues andit is a very power-hungry program, so certain things I have to use magnifier. I'm just very glad that they have both! And yes, I heard that magnifier does not support dual monitors, but I think they are working on changing that!
That really is superb and a great help because my vision's getting so bad.
Thank you

This video is great, thanks for making it. The other day I discovered by accident that when in full screen mode, you can move the screen around with CTRK + ALT + arrow keys. It's kinda handy.
Oh yes! I did forget to add that when I made this video. That's a really great tip. :) i'm glad it was helpful.
Thanks a lot brother. Your comment helped.
Thank you so much for this 😊 I was so used to zooming in and out using a trackpad i didn’t know how to zoom in on a specific area on my Desktop without it😅
Glad it was helpful! :) Also, just to let you know, this channel has been discontinued and you can follow my new channel here: youtube.com/@carrieonaccessibility. Best, Carrie.
More please!!!
This is fantastic although I did know all this already however I'm always forgetting the command keys. Now I have a go-to to come back on thank you Carrie.
I cannot wait until you get to the narrator part that is where I am horrible. So much I still don't know. Especially with NVDA I get confused a lot. Happy birthday
I will get to it I promise! LOL I'll be going over some of the settings and then mouse and cursor and voice dictation on Windows first though.
as much as I would like you to go back and watch the video, you can always print out the cheat sheet I made! The link is in the description. And then you can use your orcam to read it️
you are very inspiring, thank you so much for benefiting others and being so strong :)
Thanks for sharing and I'm glad that it was helpful!!
Thank for a very comprehensive video
It will help me a lot

Thank you so much, this is really helping my 6 year old son.
Hi there! I'm so glad it is helping. Also, something that your son might enjoy as my son does is changing the mouse color and size. If you go to settings, ease of access, and then mouse and pointer There is an option there where you and he can pick the right size he needs and a nice color. :-) Best wishes!
@@LiveAccessible Thank you I appreciate the help.

Very very nice
I just subscribed and hit the bell
My vision is getting so poor I must learn to use this magnifier
For example if I have my video editor open will it also be enlarged ?
Yes, it will! That's how I tend to edit my videos as well. I use magnification. I hope that it works out for you!

hi 😊 great video. i use NVDA.
Hi Molly! Thank you so much for watching and I have used nvda a bit as well. 😀 It is a great program especially since it's free!
Very helpful video Carrie, however I have to ask, have you or any of your subscribers, or viewers ever experienced issues with Ctrl + Alt + I not working. Myself and my son have tried numerous (6+) PC's, including a brand new one built today with a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro, NONE of them have ever switched to inverted colours using the keyboard shortcuts. It is possible to invert via the toggle box within Accessibility options, but this is frustrating having to open each time you need to invert.
I'm so sorry that this is a late reply! I can certainly agree that having to click on the toggle button would be such a pain!! Ugh. Have you updated your version of windows? I know that older versions of windows 10 has less accessibility features. Also, if you go to magnifier and the screen opens with all the controls like zoom in and out, click on settings. Then there is a toggle box that says invert colors. Right under that in small gray letters, does it say press CRL + ALT + I to invert colors? If it does, then I would use be my eyes and call microsoft and they should be able to help you with that problem! Maybe there is another setting or program that has stolen that keyboard shortcut. I'm so sorry about that and I hope this helps!
Thanks a lot!
Cool video Carrie you peaked my interest on windows 10 accessibility even though I’m blind and a Mac user oh I was still curious about the windows accessibility
Hey blind toes! Eventually, I will be doing Mac tutorials as well! Probably next year though. Lol ☺️
Live Accessible cool love to see your video on it because I was self taught on the Mac
nice vid. id like to see how you type emails or articles using magnification. im also a low vision
Hey Ryan. Thanks! That's a good idea! What do you mean by using magnification when typing? How magnifier follows the typing that you do or do you mean how to type?
i meant how the magnimeier follows what you are typing. special long articles.
Thank you f
Thanks for watching and if you're interested in other windows Accessibility features, I have a playlist on that. :)
ctrl + alt + mouse wheel isn't working for me. It's just enlarging the web page or the icons for example, not the whole screen. Am I doing something wrong? Can I change the shortcut somehow?
I wish there was a way to turn on and off screen reader with a keyboard shortcut on windows computer
Hi Larry! So4 narrator, the keyboard shortcut is control Windows enter. On previous versions of narrator and windows, it was just Windows enter. E that helps! ☺️
thank you! That helps out a whole lot
You're welcome Larry! I wasn't sure if you caught it during the livestream so I thought I would just make sure by replying and having it written down! ☺️
This was such a comprehensive and helpful video, thank you! I have been using windows magnifier for years, but in windows 10, I can no longer use the magnifier and Excel at the same time unless I turn off all the options except “mouse cursor.” Meaning the “keyboard focus” and “text insertion point” do not work, so I cannot easily use excel and the magnifier at the same time. If I try to use keyboard focus or text insertion point while using Excel, I am kicked out of Excel, and cannot type anything while these options are open in the magnifier. Any advice? Can you help? Thank you in advance either way.
Hi Daniel! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! Yes, I have heard a lot of complaints about Windows magnifier and Excel not working together very well. They are supposed to have fixed it and I don't have that problem on my end. Did you check if you have any windows updates that haven't been made yet? I Did hear that they pushed out an update a little while ago to fix the issue. If that doesn't work, I would contact Microsoft accessibility. they have a specific number for the disability help desk, but if you have be my eyes installed into your phone, you can go to specialized help, technical, and then select Microsoft and they should be able to help you and will see through the camera. That way, they can see first hand and witness what is going on with magnifier. I hope that helps! And I wish you the best.
Live Accessible wow!! Ok thank you so much. I will try the Windows updates first and then go down the list of your recommendations. That really helps a lot. Thank you so much!
@@danielmayim4537 I'm glad to help! I hope it works out. :-)
Live Accessible and all my VIP’s: after spending hours yesterday doing updates and trying to repair directly the Microsoft programs, then today spending two hours on the phone with Microsoft accessibility doing the exact same thing, I discovered this; there is no fix for the 2016 or other versions. The only versions that magnifier currently works with Microsoft XL is the 2019 or the 365 version. They are not currently working on repairs on the “older“ versions either. You can complain on their website, and maybe we should do that, but for now, it does not work.
Thank you anyways Cari. Because of your information, it led me to at least realize that it cannot be fixed, and I have to move in another direction, either upgrade to the newer version, or by zoom text. Thank you again. It’s great that you’re helping other VIPs. 🙂. If more of us can help each other, we can really make a difference.
If your computer doesn't support Aero, or if you're using a theme other than an Aero theme, Magnifier will only work in docked mode. Method 1: Change the theme to Aero Theme and check. ... Method 2: Press the keyCtrl+Alt+F to switch to full-screen mode in Magnifier and see if it works.
Hi there! Thank you for your comment! Sorry for my late reply! Yes, I have heard of the problem with needing to have Aero. I'm not sure if that's still the case with the newest versions of window, but I will keep that in mind and hopefully that can help other people too! 😊
really inspiring.
Hi Carrie Great video 😊 I don't use a computer or my laptop I give them to my daughter. I just use my touch pad.
Hi Tony! I use my phone a lot, but a computer is definitely much more powerful and could do a lot more things! But both are great! ☺️ What touch pad do you use by the way?
@@LiveAccessible Hi I use Samsung tab A6.I love steak but not allowed to eat it 😥
@@toniedudley6593 oh okay! So do you mean just like a smart phone? 😀
@@LiveAccessible Hi it's an android touchpad , You can do anything use it to make calls,Email,Play games ,facebook etc.
