There a stranger in my house. I thought I heard that or something like it. Very nice I finger pick most of the time when using piano sounds on the GR-55.
Yeah it isn't the best sometimes but often times it just takes a tuning or a technique change to get it right. I meant for this to come out on Sunday, youtube glitched! Enjoy the early release.
Thank You for this!...Sounds incredible ... Which model has a better Piano sound the SY 1000, or the GM 800?...
The GM 800 for sure. You could think of the GM 800 more for replication of sounds than actual synthesis. I see the SY1000 as more of a true synthesizer that you can create a tone from scratch from. Whereas the GM 800 is kind of like a MIDI keyboard that has different presets on it that you can switch to. Less actual synthesis and more like triggering a sound if that makes sense. So yes the GM 800 is your go-to for keyboard sounds and it blows the GR55 out of the water.
Do your stuff with patch 77 next!
I covered patch 77 in the all sounds video but I could do a short on patch 77. Going forward the GM 800 videos will be direct input and it will be covering all the sounds in a single category as opposed to the patches
Did you by chance, update the latest firmware version?
Nope, I never update firmware on guitar pedals nor do I plug them into the computer. I try to focus on the out-of-box experience.
@GearSounds Interesting. I was hearing some ghost notes and with the latest firmware they improved I guess the tracking and some of the ghosting.
Yeah, and I wish I could update it but my primary concern is that it wouldn't represent the pedal for most people. I would say 95% of people never plug in their pedals into a computer. If I were to update the pedal, the improved tracking when it represent the experience for most people. That is why I never will update pedals for the channel. If I intended to use this more professionally I would certainly have it updated. My intent is to recreate exactly what you will receive if you purchase this. There are still less ghost notes than the previous version but I never allow a company to fix a product after it's sold to the customer. I just don't believe in it. If they sold it with software they created ghost notes, that's what they felt represented the price point. I still find it to be fair.
@GearSounds Maybe have a 2nd one and update that one for yourself. The price point is still the same weather or not they release a good product or a great one. Our phones and computers all need constant updating. I'm running a custom 7 with an Axon AX100 MK-II with ghost hexpander. The Axon isn't produced anymore and for me it's been one the best tracking wise. I have the GM800 coming as well as a GK-5 internal kit for my 7 string since I will be able to take advantage of all 7 strings. Can't do it on a 13 pin unless you have two hexpanders, controllers, cables etc. The Sy-1000 also looks fun and that I can use ghost piezo saddles but no 7 string support. Pretty excited about the GM-800. Great playing and thank you for showing what it can do
What is the ax100 MK2? You're very welcome. I always have a lot of fun doing these demos and I've been playing this type of technology for many years now. I'm glad that came through in the demo. I wish I could afford to have a second unit, I would love to try to combine two units to make an eight voice synthesizer tone with four different types of expression. If you do purchase any other equipment I will hope that you take advantage of my affiliate links if you happen to have the ability to. It won't cost you anything extra and it helps me out a little bit.
A strange sounding guitar with little articulation. And every now and then a couple of notes from a old 80's sampled piano. Not my thing, but if you like it, you like it.
There is zero guitar signal inside this demo. What you are hearing is actually a separate synth voice that seems to have been added to try to create a blend between notes. I actually don't prefer that sound and I wish it could be removed and for some patches it is. That being said when you start to play fast it appears that even the patches that don't have that voice bring it back the faster the notes come, giving it a more synth-like sound.
@@GearSounds I don't think that is it. The pitch tracking is bending the piano tone as if it is a guitar sound. Piano's don't slide and bend. For a more natural piano sound, if possible, try to set the pitch tracking to a "quantized" setting that won't allow slides and bends. For that to work you will need to adapt your playing a bit. Tracking faster notes will probably always be a bit of a problem.
1. You're incorrect, the "quantize" setting you're referring to is called chromatic on this pedal, and that's already on (which means that it locks to a note and does not allow for bending) The piano tones are fully bendable but when chromatic mode is off and they don't lock to the pitch of a note, they actually sound very metallic and unnatural and will bend as you're describing, but that's not what's happening here. I hope that helps.
Bom dia! Para uso dos ons do piano, a técnica na guitarra muda drasticamente. É preciso pensar, lembrar do piano e dos synths ao serem executados neles fisicamente. É treino mesmo.
Good morning! For the use of piano sounds, the guitar technique changes drastically. You have to think, remember the piano and the synths when physically playing them. It really is training.
