@@redheadedneighbor he had to sing the parts to the other guys because he didn't "write music" at that point. He has revisited it a couple times over the years as the groups he sang with changed, but it is basically the same arrangement as it was then.
Music done right is supposed to evoke an emotional response, and Home Free does that every time. In my opinion, the song they do with the absolute best harmonies is their rendition of How Great Thou Art which was shot in Austria. Thank you for sharing your reaction!!
btw, the man in the cowboy hat is Chris Rupp, brother of the beatboxer Adam. Chris and Adam began the group about 20 years ago (?) but Chris left it in 2016 to pursue other things. Thus, older videos feature him, but newer ones have Chance (Adam Chance) as barirone. Tenors are Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist. Tim Foust is the bass, leading this gorgeous rendition.
Another one doing this song is David Phelps. Check him out! I'm 82yo and love almost all genres of music, especially those who do so much better than me!
They did a Christmas song with the Oakridge Boys called "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" and one with Kenny Roger's. "Children Go Where I Send Thee " you should check out but honestly anything they do is amaz8ng.
#HomeFree Every time I listen to Home Free's rendition of this classic Christmas song I get waves of chills running all over me, from the beginning to the end. Thank you for such a beautiful, heartfelt reaction. Blessings always. PS. Hope you react to Home Free's "Do You Hear What I Hear", never really liked this song until Home Free did it. It's spectacular.
Home Free always delivers. Great job, but this is my 2nd favorite version. Try Bill and Gloria Gather, ft. David Phelps (live version). David is one of the worlds best tenors, and he truly delivers on this song. If angels sang, they would sound like him!
@@redheadedneighborHard agree on that one, the dynamics David Phelps plays with in that rendition are something to behold. ruclips.net/video/ElJ0fiD0lkc/видео.html
Your reaction was very moving, as was the story about the singing of this song at your family gatherings. The song has that special place in our family folklore, too. My father passed my mother a note during the singing of this song at a midnight Christmas Eve service, asking her to marry him -- after knowing her only four days. Hope you'll do Home Free's Do You Hear What I Hear. It's amazing.
I can’t sing worth a flip either. I think that makes me appreciate these harmonies even more. For something fun, try Home Free’s Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.
Any time I get to hear Texan Tim, baby Austin and Adam Rupp ( beatboxer) sing I'm extremely satisfied. Thanks for the Home Free reactions. Looking forward to more of their Christmas music.
Singing is a learned skill, not just a natural talent. There was even a deaf singer on one of the talent shows a few years ago. If singing makes you happy, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord."
@@redheadedneighbor And that's fine. Almost all of the loving renditions of "Happy Birthday" sound awful, and the person being serenaded appreciates every wrong note.
One of the few songs HF does that Adam sing and no beatbox. To hear their individual voices better, try 'Helplessly Hoping'. Thanks, good job. Welcome to the Home Fries.
I've seen all of your Home Free reactions and I must say , of all the reactors I've seen, you are without a doubt, the most sincereand compelling of them all! I've followed Home Free since The Sing off Season 4 and you see and feel what I saw and felt from the beginning! May God bless you and your family this holiday season and beyond!
This is another accapela group with a catalogue so large that many of their older song go undiscovered. Cranking up the time machine: "Ring of Fire", "Champagne Taste", "Everything Will Be OK", "Anyway The Wind Blows"
Thank you redhead for a real reaction! A lot of reactors kinda script it and you my dear are real! Thank you so much! Your new friend! Low bass Kenneth.
The harmonies are amazing, the crescendos and diminuendos, the glorious setting. And for many, this was their first exposure to HF - what a way to start, right? Watching the live video from Greeneville from the other night, Tim has tweaked it yet again to take advantage of having Chance to help fill out the bass - the bass in this video was Tim layered in with Chris handling the baritone parts. Austin's voice has matured, it isn't that sweet angelic sound, but a lovely high tenor. And having all 5 of them sing is always a treat. "Home Free - O Holy Night - Greeneville, TN - 12/2/2023"
They have two others that will wow you when you hear them for the first time. May I recommend "How great thou art" and "In the blood". They both make you feel things so deeply just because of HOW they are singing the words, and the harmonies will give you chills. This one brought me to tears as well, the first time I heard it and I do sing. I know the hours of practice and the skill that it takes to make that kind of joyful noise to the Lord. They are definitely gifted and blessed by God.
There is so much good stuff from these guys, but Do You Hear What I Hear is something truly unique and special. Snow Globe is a sleeper. It took me awhile to get around to that one, but now I keep going back to it. Love your reactions. Thanks to the #HighlyReActive guys for leading me to your channel.
A truly inspirational performance. Their harmonies building to crescendos and falling back and then building again filling the whole of the space with their voices both lifts the spirit in adoration and worship and humbles at the same time. They many times start out simple and then build adding layer upon layer of harmonies and complexities until they sound like a large choir. Love your reactions. Off the subject a little bit but I like the painting on the wall behind you. The colors caught my attention. Since you mentioned opera, Austin and Rob put out a video, Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera, Nessun Dorma. Sometime soon you will have to check that out as well. I'll be watching for that.
I love their rendition of this hymn - the harmonies & singing are simply gorgeous. It's truly the best version of it that I've ever heard. Thanks for playing this and your comments. When Austin was a kid he sometimes traveled and sang with his father's gospel quartet in Georgia, so if it feels like he took you to church .. . In a collaboration with The Oak Ridge Boys, they sing "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" and he goes full gospel.
It's been hard for me to get in the Christmas spirit the past couple of years (or listen to any music in general). But your content has helped, thanks.

I think this classic has a place in everyone's Christmas experiences. Home Free managed to make it new to me, all over again, when they released this gem several years ago. Now it goes to the top of my seasonal playlist every year, along with Adam Rupp's masterpiece arrangement of "Do You Hear What I Hear", and Chris Rupp's "What Child is This". Add to that their many funny videos, and Home Free is pretty much the heart of my Christmas music. I love your genuine reactions and utter respect for talent and skill. Thank you for this one!
I fully agree with you. This was the way I was raised to. Only our bunch would play a guitar and fiddle harmonica that my daddy played and played guitar. You wouldn’t even hear a baby crying. This is so beautiful to me. Great memories and great reaction. # HOMEFREE.
