This will be my first time actually staying in hotels when I go back to Japan in February! The hotel prices were SO cheap in Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka that I cancelled my airbnb because I feel like hotels just offer more security + cleanliness + guaranteed private bath/shower! Thanks again for the great videos KenChan!
Thank you for watching the video as always! Yes it’s still much better than before closure, but I feel hotel prices are getting higher so that’s good you booked yours already. I agree. Hotels are also in better location and easier in most cases.
Business hotels usually are the best deals in the large cities. And usually there are many choices near the stations. Which is usually a big factor in choosing a place to stay, unless you enjoy long walks at the end of the day
Daz san, I agree. Location is very important in Tokyo since we don't have Uber. You have lots of travel experience so you know more than me as usual. Business hotels are easy to leave the building and the location is usually great.
As always, KenChan-san, very informative. I love Japanese hotels, 5 stars, 4 stars, business hotels, capsule hotels, ryokans, airbnbs, ... but I have never tried a love hotel..
Thank you always. Woe, you have stayed variety of hotels in Japan. I agree each hotels from 5 star to business hotel has good points. Haha, maybe you can drop by next time. :)
Interesting video. Was searching for hotels in Tokyo for my upcoming short trip for 3 days. This video is really giving a good information about selection of hotel.

When I was first in Japan in 2014, in Tokyo I stayed for a week at the Maruchu hotel, it was cheap and verry nice and clean. In Kyoto, I stayed at the Gojo guest house annex, it was so perfect. In Osaka I stayed in a capsule hotel, it was a very interesting and fun experience.
Really informative video! In my travels to Japan, i always stay at star business or small hotels (18 to 20 Sq meters) 11 is way too small especially when traveling with someone. I also choose a hotel close to jr station and if not a metro station. I don't worry about free breakfasts in Japan because part of the fun is to eat at different places. If you have laundry, you can always find a place nearby to save some money. One thing I'm disappointed in Japanese hotels is lack of fitness facilities or those that have them charge an arm and a leg.
Thank you! Right. 11 is a little too small even for one person and you may feel claustrophobia if you are not used to it. It depends on the window and shape of the room too. I agree with the fitness facility. Looks like they have no idea what the gym is but made it. :)
Great video. I have stayed in plenty of business hotels, and they really do have everything a person needs.I found that love hotels often offered a lot more space for not much more money.
Thank you always. You are right, business hotel is a good choice as long as price is appropriate. Haha. If a group of two, it might be a unique experience to try one night. 👍
Hello ~ thank you for sharing this helpful video. My family and I are planning to visit September this year, our flight lands around 5 AM (local time). We have two small children and one elder in wheelchair, what would be you best suggestion we should book for our trip?! Should we book an extra day or is there a place we can rest before our check in time for the final hotel selection?! Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Hello, thank you for writing to me! That is great you are visiting Japan with your family! It's difficult for me to tell what your experience will be like, and what service you will get from the hotel. If you don't check in until midnight, theirs is a possibility that they cancel your reservation, so to be safe, it might be better to talk to the hotel what options are available for you. Some hotel try to meet your needs, so it might be good to talk to them in English, and see how they are sincere enough to fill your needs. Sorry I couldn't be much of help. I wish you the best trip in Japan. :)
Hello. I'm not sure which scene you saw, but I think that is Shinagawa Prince Hotel Main tower, or Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa. Not all rooms have Tokyo Tower view, so it might be good to check with the hotel. :)
Aakabane is not that far from Shinjuku. You can go to Shinjuku/Shibuya and Ueno/Tokyo directly. It's mixture of suburb and some old commercial streets and you might like it. :)
Thank you for informing me about Rakuten travel .....btw how will be the temperature in Tokyo at the end of may.....very excited to be able to go to japan again and trying capsule hotel 🤩
You used Rakuten Travel? It's hard to say temperature as it's like roller coaster recently, like summer on some days, get chilly too. I recommend you to bring light summer clothes but with some additoinal layers. Have a great stay at capsule hotel!
When you want to save money on your trip to Japan, capsule hotels are the best choice. Japan is a safe country, so you can rest well even in inexpensive hotels. You can use the money you save for transportation and sightseeing.
Coming November and December most hotel are fully booked . I have reserved rooms near Tokyo station ($1100)and Shibuya station ($1900)but still can’t decide which to choose Can you advice which area is more suitable for family with teenagers. the price are different by US$800 for 4nights .
Thank you for your comment. Let's say both hotels are the similar grade, it's not easy to explain to spend $800 more to be in Shibuya. But if your young family members are finding something priceless to stay in Shibuya, I think it worth it. :) I only can talk about the area, but Tokyo Station area is much more cleaner and my favorite, but it can be boring since it's more like a business district plus department stores. Shibuya is busy until late night, with all neons and crowds which might be closer to the image of Tokyo. As being said that, If your hotel is on Yaesu exit side, you can access from Kyobashi station to Shibuya by Ginza line and it takes about 17 minutes, also major spots like Asakusa and Akihabara is closer from Tokyo Station. I think my video about Tokyo 10 Neighborhood ruclips.net/video/tsd_92r9c2M/видео.html might also help to decide the area. I wish you the best Tokyo trip.
Hello. Thank for watching. I think Ginza is a good idea. It's clean and safe, fun place to walk around. It has lots of small to middle sized hotel such as Millenium Mitsui and Nishitetsu Solaria, and other nice business hotels.I think it's better not to go too far from stations for your convenience.
Hello, Thank you for asking. If that means a 16 yo is staying at the hotel by himself/herself, it seems difficult. Most of the hotels have set 18 years old (after high school) as a youngest age to stay at the hotel as a primary guest. Some hotels allow with parents' agreement, so it might be better to ask the hotel you are interested in. 👍
