- You may remember my moms Golf II automatic from the Car TLC Video if not go check it out.
Overall it's probably the most reliable car in the family - does what it's asked for and nothing more. Until it decided to make weird noises and not got in gear. Here is how I serviced it.

How reliable are these transmissions ?, im looking forward to buy a mk1 with a 3 speed auto trans
In my experience - very! My mother drove it for 10 years and all we ever did was this oil change on the 9th year. Its not a particularly dynamic or smooth tranny, but never had any issues with it. So long as there is oil in it it won't let you down.

color of the oil? I have yellow oil on the dipstick. I bought a febi bilstein 14738 yellow substitute according to vag tolerance, the oil has not changed for a very long time, it could change color during operation. In your video, you fill in red, I'm confused.
I have always bought ATF II (as per the book) and it has always been red

There are two plugs on the differential itself - just like on a regular gearbox - one for level and one for draining.

There is a drain and fill plug on the diff itself.
I have the exact same problem it sometimes takes the gears sometimes then stops. I toped it up with ATF but I didn't remove the filter and the oil pan please assist

@@luthogogotyi9297 the filter might be clogged - its worth checking. Other than that - I don't have any other ideas.
става въпрос за вакум маркучите, излизащи от сервото до малкото пластмасово нещо за двата малки маркуча, колата работи много неравномерно на празен ход, единият малък маркуч не знам къде влиза, а четох, че причината за това “тресене” на празен ход е от тези вакум маркучи, много ще съм Ви благодарен ако може да ми споделите къде отиват въпросните малки маркучи или ако е удобно-ще се разходя до където Ви е удобно за да погледна пътят им. Благодаря ви предварително, поздрави!
Нямам конкретна информация на готово за вакуумите и няма да мога да ти помогна за съжаление. Съветвам те да търсиш в нета диаграма на всички вакууми и да се опиташ да ги наредиш правилно. Имам друг клип, където показвам тест за търсете на пропуски във вакуумите - може да ти бъде полезен. Успех!

Im not 100% sure, but I think it's a manual cog on the differential.

Yeah, that's what it says in the manual
Is it ok if I put dexron III ?
What is the spring for?
It returns the lever to which the throttle cable is connected. On these automatics the throttle cable operates the gearbox too.
