Polyurethane foam is a plastic and does not adhere well to slick plastics. I welcome you to come pull some off after I spray it to wood or metal though. It doesn’t let go easily.
There's no best insulation, it all depends on what you need it to do. Sometimes you want your insulation to also act as a vapor barrier, sometimes you want it to reduce sound, sometimes you want it to be flame resistant, sometimes you want it easy to install. Basements need different insulation than above grade. Different climates need different moisture barrier strategies
Never spray like this. When you don't spray the each corner of stud there's no seal. When the foam is expanding into the studs the only thing it sealed to is the osb. No studs.
@@trump-wj2nx the pmcs are a nightmare. The Graco ones are way easier to work on, and if you properly maintain it and keep the gun clean you'll rarely have issues.
Love your video, I love watching this stuff expand, it's therapeutic, like popping bubble wrap, lol. However, if you guys are using open cell, as the title says, there's no vapor barrier properties, of the foam, so how are you guys going do a vapor barrier, on the walls, post spraying?
If the home is sealed properly there shouldn't be any condensation getting in. Ventilation in the attic or basement is recommended. I'd sprayed a house recently and as we were working the home was almost dripping with moisture. But we solved it with 2 3/4 in closed cell on all exteriors.
His speed is to fast. The foam is falling off the substrate. He’s trying to keep the foam from peeling off of the plywood. Foam might be a lil cold also. I’d turn temps up
Foam isn't hot enough... OR it's TOO hot, which means that by the time you're spraying it, it's not cooling down fast enough to stay on the wall. Also, a certain degree of humidity in the air or debris or wetness onside the cavity will prevent it from sticking as well.
A chemical reaction. This spray hose is connected to to barrels of chemicals. To work properly, they have to be heated to a certain temperature. Once the temp is reached, You unvalve the spray gun, and the chemical runs down separate hoses to the nozzle of the gun. At the last split second, when you pull the trigger, the gun allows the two chemicals to touch, the air hose on the gun blows it out, and the chemical starts reacting and expanding on the fly.
That’s closed cell foam you are thinking of... closed cell you can only spray 2-3 inches in one pass for it to off gas and cool down. Open cell you can spray a bunch and it will not burn at the core like the closed cell will, that’s why you can spray 10+ inches in one pass
