So funny you mentioned the texture of the bags because I just received my Monster mash bag and I was just saying how the texture of the bag is Everything! It matters so much and the unbleached lining gives the bag so much character but also let's the pattern of the outside pattern shine. I truly love your bags and I appreciate you sharing your art and vision with us.
I loved your description of WI, you nailed it! I had never seen supper clubs till I moved here, totally a Midwest thing! And the sheep sheering at sheep and wool was insane to watch!
YES the Southern Indiana Fiber Festival is in my home town!!!! You should totally come down for it. It's October 18 & 19 and we have an adorable town square that you would love just around the corner from the fairgrounds.
I live in Washington State so there are always apples around - I get a weekly fruit and veg box with local produce and I'm looking forward to getting fresh new varieties of apples... but I still love a Honey crisp. I would totally buy one of those notions pouches - they were super cute!
I absolutely love your travelers cowl! The colors are superb. Ten years ago I went to the Mendocino County Fair and there were many sheep events and also sheepdog trials. I cried. I guess most people do the first time they see them live. I purchased a fleece there and still have yet to spin but a spinning wheel is in my immediate future and I do not regret having carried that thing around for a decade. Also, at this same fair -10 years ago- there was a variety of Apple that was small and ALL pink! A brighter pink on the outside and a pastel pink on the inside and I want to go back just to find those apples again! It’s happening this weekend and I’m at my mom’s for her birthday but I hope to convince her to come with me next year!! I have no idea the name of that pink apple. And I remember it being delicious as well as pretty.
Oh I hope you get to go back to your fair soon!!! There are a surprising number of pink apple varieties out there! Some of them even stay pink when you cook them!
I was laughing when you said how you cooked your potatoes! My dad was a potato farmer. That is the only way we cooked them through generations. My grandparents were from Yugoslavia, Austria and Germany. And yes, everyone always liked my potatoes and the taste of them. ❤❤
OMG I was totally going to ask you if you ever made bags with see-through fronts AND THERE THEY ARE!! I tried to make two, but I am a terrible seamstress. I use them for stitching so I made them like 9x12ish to hold the pattern etc. I would totally be interested if you made some of those! So, so cute!
Oh I so enjoyed time with you this morning! Have you need to the Young’s event? Young’s in a Sat is Sept seems like going to Costco on a Sat 😂. I thought about taking my grands, who will be in our care that weekend. How unwise would they be?? 😬
I saw the picture Emily posted of you checking out the fleeces Beth was holding and thought you’re close to buying your own! 😂 Well done on staying strong! ❤
I’m so sad that I got sick and was unable to attend WI Sheep & Wool and meet you. I think you’re so cool and while my wife doesn’t knit they do kind of listen in when I’m watching, so I think they do too. 😂 Just an FYI, the house next door to me (in Milwaukee) is for sale now and we have a honeycrisp apple tree. Hope I catch you next year at a festival, love those bags and your smoky handspun yarn.
I would be interested in Cross Stitch bags by Amy Beth! I’ve been looking online and it seems many of the stitchy bag sellers only ship to U.S. addresses which is a real bummer to this Canadian stitcher. Plus your bags are always amazingly cute!
Hi, I was wondering you mentioned your light when you were cross stitching could you show that light and what brand it is? I’m in my very late 40s and my eyesight is going quick.😂 thank you so much❣️ Hi, I was just finishing up the end of the podcast. I really think you should design a shawl. You know so much about construction and design. I think it would be gorgeous! Also, it would give us way to be supportive by purchasing your beautiful new pattern.
Applying is not “my jam “ (haha) but it is my butter. I hope to get some apples this week to make apple butter. Apples are early in Michigan, this year, which means I have to scramble to fit this in my days. I made peach butter and peach mango butter (so yummy) earlier this summer. Thank you for this podcast. It was so fun.
book rec: The North Woods by Daniel Mason. For one thing, part of the book largely features an apple. Beyond that, it's hard to describe. But I'm listening to it for a second time, right after the first, which I never do, but there's so much to take in and enjoy.
Fingerlings are the official potato enablers. "Sure, I could buy these russets for 5 cents a pound, but the FINGERLINGS, though -- that's where I come out ahead!"
I never knew there were so many different potatoes. Salt potatoes are a central/upstate ny thing. I’m in Syracuse , aka the salt city . Love listening to you. If you come across zestar apples give them a try.
Do you watch Toad Hollow / The Crafty Toads? They just did their August books wrap up. They have a lot of spooky fiction. Almost no non-fiction. They do all the crafts you do. You might enjoy them!
I’ve actually read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat…is that weird 🤔 I was working on my BSCJ, which is heavily weighted in Psychology. It wasn’t assigned…I found it and read it. 🌈🌈🦋🦋
@@fatsquirrelfiberswe have a few salt mines in NYS. My brother works at Cargill’s Cayuga Salt mine. I think that’s why you’ve heard them referred to Syracuse Salt potatoes. I came here to say the same thing. I never found his writings too scientific btw. I recommended his book on deafness to a few people looking for an introduction into the topic, most found it to be an interesting but quick read
The cowl looks great on your... esp with your bob kinda hair style laying over it. I love it. I know what you mean tho... it has a BIB vibe. But that's in our own heads, I think. You don't look like you're going anywhere near a rib.
Yes please, on the inclusion of the notions bags with sparkle plastic in your shop! Much cuteness! 🙂

Yes. My coworker from Syracuse introduced me to salt potatoes. I have to eat them with butter, to cut the salt. They are good though!

Snagged a green apple bag!!! Squeee 😊

I love your podcast.

@@hobbiesofholly it’s a fairly kid friendly festival…young’s has mini golf, a kid’s play area, and I think it’s still has a giant slide.
The Wool Gathering is coming up this weekend in Yellow Springs Ohio, it’s a nice gathering with lots of vending and fresh cheese curds.

That was brandy in your ‘Sconnie Old Fashioned. Glad you had fun!
Your bags are so cute. My grocery stores only have gala and red delicious right now and I eagerly await my preferred varieties to be back in season.

I really like that colorful skein of yarn you spun. I also like the same shawl shape as you! (Including shallow crescent shawls.)
I am so glad I got to meet you at WI Sheep and Wool!
@@Kitsunesunset it was so great to meet you as well!
You were there and I didn't get to meet you! Sadness. It was a nice day, wasn't it? I loved the herding dog trials ❤

I’m glad you enjoyed Wisconsin Sheep & Wool! I had planned on going but hubby fell ill so i have to wait a whole year. Ugh!
Oh no! I hope he is feeling better❤
By the way, I love your duck mug
I completely forgot there is a duck on this mug! There is a sheep in the side that faces me, and I guess it’s the only thing I pay attention to!

Amy Beth, I strongly encourage you to read (not listen to) Oliver Sacks' work. He was amazing & a gifted writer.
