I bumped into Mason in NYC outside of Sardis, he walking out, me walking in, and outside I told him what a fan I was and he did a non-stop ten-minute improv just for me, to me, as a crowd gathered. "It doesn't surprise me you are a fan of mine because I could tell right away that you were an intelligent man because you dress so well with that marvelous suit and that striking tie and the cufflinks" and he went off on Hillary and all sorts if things. I've met many celebrities but Jackie Mason is a treasured memory. RIP Jackie. Well done.

@@djm4457 thank you. I'll never forget it because I told him I was a fan and in the business and appreciated his political views and he gave me what I wanted: a little Jackie Mason show, just for the fun of it, right on-target just because I was a fan and gushed a little. In this business, that is the mark of a true gentleman who cares about the people who, in effect, support him, unlike 99% who think that putting on a show in a movie, tv or radio exhaults them to the point of Devine detachment. I couldn't believe it and made me look darn good to the small crowd that gathered because he kept his little street show directed at me and when he was done and we exchanged goodbyes he walked away looking back with a big smile, I could tell that he knew what it was like to be a fan of someone and thrilled to be in their presence and have some special gift from them. What a wonderful, delightful man. I wish I had gotten to know him. I intended to call his radio show but a busy life always got in the way. He was great enough to know he was great because people loved him and great enough to be grateful for it. RIP Jackie. See you at the door of that great Sardies in the sky.

@@davidrosler5413 That's a fantastic experience to have. I'm sure he knew how much those few impromptu minutes meant, and would mean, to you. There is great intelligence, wit, perception, honesty, and tongue in cheek self deprecation in his humor. I'm going to the National Comedy Center museum this weekend in Jamestown, NY. George Carlin's daughter will be giving a guided tour of the incredible displays and archives there, and I'm told they are working quickly to have a special area set aside for Jackie Mason to be included. Im looking forward to it. Hopefully you'll be able to check it out someday. It's a truly extraordinary place.

@@djm4457 I'd love it if you could take some pictures of anything with Jackie Mason and Johnny Carson. I am in Nashville now, away from the advancing horror that once was my beloved city. Everyone I know wants to get out and some have, so I assume it's as bad as they say, now, in terms of economy and crime. I'm actually sorry Mason does at this time in NYC when it's currently so depressing. Must have broken his heart because he was all about Manhattan.

He's absolutely right about marriage in America. Johnny Carson was paying his second wife 6,000 dollars a month until he died, and that was a huge amount of money in those days. Another of his wives got 20 million dollars in the settlement plus a load of property.

When I was in third grade, I met Jackie Mason at an airport in Rome. He was in full make-up and my parents recognized him immediately. He shook their hands, waved at my brother and I, said a quick one-liner, and we went our separate ways. I only learned about his comedy years later! A very nice man.
